Biggest drive you can get for a laptop... period!

Western Digital Green WD20NPVT 2TB IntelliPower 8MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 2.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive
Western Digital Green WD20NPVT 2TB IntelliPower 8MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 2.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: 2 freaking terabytes on my laptop!

Cons: It's a little slower than my 7200 rpm 1 terabyte drive it replaced.

Overall Review: This drive is VERY tall. It will not fit in the majority of laptops. I was able to get it to fit in a cd caddy for hard drives on my dv6t. It BARELY fit and I thought I had plenty of room. It looks like it's a good 20-30% taller than my old terabyte drive. I personally don't really care about a slightly slower speed. I use this drive purely as a data drive and use my main SSD drive for all the stuff I access frequently. This drive is just for my big data that I only use once in a while, stuff like photos, videos, downloads, etc.

Most Critical Review

OCZ ships products too early and makes users beta test

OCZ Vertex 3 - MAX IOPS Edition 2.5" 240GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) VTX3MI-25SAT3-240G
OCZ Vertex 3 - MAX IOPS Edition 2.5" 240GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) VTX3MI-25SAT3-240G

Pros: I really wanted the speed that this drive claims. 500mb/sec drive speed and .05 ms access time is something I can definately get on board with. Unfortunately, the drive doesn't work as fast as it says it is. In real world testing, it was not more than twice as fast as my 7200rpm hard drive. Still an improvement, but definately, not the speed jump I was expecting.

Cons: This drive and all the others in the OCZ line are plagued by major firmware issues, which essentially make this drive unusable. v2.09 of the firmware was the only stable version of the firmware and unfortunately was abysmally slow. I am now of v.2.11 and it is fast, but unstable and there is no fix available currently.

Overall Review: OCZ should not expect end users who pay $500 for a hard drive to do their beta testing of their firmware. This is the last time I ever buy an OCZ product again. Ever. The company that is behind the product takes shortcuts at the expense of the users that trust them. The customer support is terrible. They keep shifting the blame on other things and make end users jump through hoops, when in the end, the drive is defective.

Headphones are too tight

Monster DNA On Ear Headphones for iOS - Black/Rose Gold
Monster DNA On Ear Headphones for iOS - Black/Rose Gold

Pros: Decent build quality. Removable cable. Reasonably high quality sound. Decent sound isolation

Cons: It's hard to enjoy a set of headphones that makes your ears hurt from wearing them longer than 10 minutes. The sound quality is decent, but for me, I'd rather have a comfortable experience than slightly better sound. These headphones are REALLY tight on the head with no adjustments. I'm guessing it is the same for all the Monster DNA headphones since they only vary a little based on color.

Solid memory, great price

G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 32GB (4 x 8GB) DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Desktop Memory Model F3-10666CL9Q-32GBXL
G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 32GB (4 x 8GB) DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Desktop Memory Model F3-10666CL9Q-32GBXL

Pros: Reliable memory, works well at rated speeds

Cons: Doesn't overclock well, but won't take an egg off for that.

Terrible Memory

G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F2-8500CL5D-4GBPK
G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F2-8500CL5D-4GBPK

Pros: None

Cons: This memory is not reliable at all. It runs VERY, VERY HOT. It does not pass extensive memory tests. The most annoying part is that it takes hours for the error to show up, so I can't quickly find the problem in memtest. It does not run on my Gigabyte motherboard reliably at all due to occassional bit flips. After trying all kinds of things including setting Northbridge voltage settings, setting timing manually, loosening memory timings, setting memory voltage to 2.1 and being on the phone with tech support, I have come to the conclusion that this memory simply does not work with either my Gigabyte or Asus board. I have 6 sticks, so I know it is not just one bad stick. It is a problem with the batch I got and I believe the memory as a product.

Overall Review: DO NOT GET THIS IF YOU HAVE A GIGABYTE MOTHERBOARD. I would think twice about getting this memory at all given how hot it runs. Seriously, it gets so hot I can barely take it out of the memory clips without feeling like it's burning my fingers.

Terrible, badly-designed, overpriced Enclosure

Rosewill RX-358 V2 SLV - Silver, 3.5" SATA to USB & eSATA External Enclosure with Internal 80 mm Fan
Rosewill RX-358 V2 SLV - Silver, 3.5" SATA to USB & eSATA External Enclosure with Internal 80 mm Fan

Pros: None. If the fan were actually on TOP of the hard drive where the heat actually is, then this might be a decent enclosure.

Cons: I don't know how there are so many reviews here that are positive and don't point out the most obvious design flaws with this enclosure. First, when you put the drive in, you notice that the fan is on the BOTTOM of the hard drive, not the top. Then, if you lay the unit horizontally, the fan hole is COVERED so no air can go in. If you lay it vertically, there is no stand to keep it stable. On top of that, the unit has no airflow on top of the hard drive, so the fan is useless anyway. What a piece of trash. And everyone who posted a positive review, how the heck can you even use this product when it's so badly designed?

Overall Review: The fan is non-replaceable by the user since it is clearly proprietary.
