A lifetime of routers, this was the most expensive and the least useful3/29/2021 9:18:31 PM

Overall Review: I've had a number of routers over the years. While getting the NAT sorted out for gaming has never been particularly fun most routers the last few years have been pretty simple. For most just enable QoS and it works. On this one, it works for a day, then back to strict NAT. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.And that's beyond the headache of the first few weeks of owning it where speeds on my gigabit connection were limited to an absolute crawl (before it finally started working after about the 100th factory reset).Just a headache, through and through. Currently compelled to leave this review because I couldn't join a Rocket League tournament with my friends on Xbox because once again, my NAT is strict today. 3 years of owning a prior ASUS router and I don't think my NAT was ever strict once after clicking a simple enable QoS toggle. This one is a daily headache.

Manufacturer Response:
Dear Ryan M, Thank you for bringing this to our attention and I certainly understand your frustration. If possible, please provide me any log detail regarding your current situation. In the meantime, try going into the router firmware and under the WAN tab go to the bottom and under DHCP frequency query select NORMAL mode (instead of the default of Aggressive mode), and then click the Apply button. The Normal query mode may help solve dropping WAN issues. Try using the normal WAN port instead of the 2.5Ghz WAN/LAN port for your WAN side connection to your modem. In the Wireless tab try turning Asus Smart connect OFF. If the issues persist, you can reach us via ASUSWRT(ASUS router Web UI), or ASUS Router App, or you can send me at cl-adrian@asus.com. Your case for reference is N2104000980. Thank you for choosing ASUS! Best Regards, Adrian ASUS Customer Loyalty – US Support

Pros: You can file your taxes through it.

Cons: Does not import from online verison State file costs extra even though the name implies that it's included Clunky software

Overall Review: I've used the HRBlock online version through their website for years. I thought this would basically be an extension of that. It's not. It's clunky standalone software that can't sync with any of the data you're previously entered/given to HRBlock, it costs extra to use, etc. Even offering this for sale, especially with the misleading title, has soured me from purchasing at Newegg.
