-Cost to Performance
Cons: -Doesn't fit my palm as well as my previous laptop
-Chassis could be better for the price.
Overall Review: Overall this laptop was a solid purchase and a massive upgrade compared to my MSI laptop from a few years back. I bring this with me everywhere. The 3080 Max-Q is definitely a bit underpowered as far as 3080s go but this is by FAR the best value 3080 laptop around. I have a hard time believing that the 3080 Max-Q won't out perform any of the competition's 3070 at full power and those laptops are often more expensive than this one. With the Max-Q comes some pretty decent thermals and therefore a super quiet laptop. I can finally pull out my laptop in a professional setting and not worry about people seeing some over the top gaming laptop that has fans screaming while in a meeting or doing simple word processing. If you're not gaming, this thing is silent. The 10870H isn't a bad processor by any means but I would have loved to have a Ryzen based laptop with the Aorus logo.
I've been having a few issues with getting some games to recognize when a second monitor is plugged in to the mini DP port. I'm hoping that there will be a few patches coming in the future where this process is a little more streamlined when plugging in my desktop monitor. When not using my main monitors, the 240hz 1080p IPS monitor is absolutely gorgeous. The colors look wonderful and actually made me disappointed in my desktop setup. While I have no experience with the OLED, I can only assume those panels are even better.
My only other real complaint is that my palm is a tad too long for how the keyboard is placed. To me, it seems like if the keyboard was shifted forward just a few cm more it would be absolutely perfect. I'm slowly getting used to this but it is a bit awkward. If you have smaller hands this won't be an issue at all. The keys feel nice and I have no complaints with them or the per key lighting. Each key gets bright and the color is pretty decent. The software to change the lighting is a little lacking and can be pretty cumbersome... but once you get your theme set then it looks great. Aorus, PLEASE give your software a little visit and maybe make it a little more user friendly. Maybe some tooltips or a better tutorial.
Overall I love this laptop and I'm super excited to have such a capable mobile rig for VR and couch co-op with friends.
Pros: Looks sorta nice.
Cons: Doesn't support my ram's XMP profile at 4266mhz.
Ethernet controller doesn't work at all.
Overall Review: Do yourself a favor and don't buy this board. My first board was completely DOA. I went ahead and RMAed it to Newegg and waited 10 days for my replacement to come in. This one at least booted for me but without internet. I installed drivers in a number of different ways but end up having to rely on a third party wifi card to keep internet. This board has the Intel I225-V Ethernet controller that is known to be defective. Intel stated that with driver updates and restarts that it should be fine. It's not fine. The controller still doesn't detect the known working cable that's plugged in. I have tried every previous driver on the internet as well as the current driver and nothing works. As of the 2nd, Intel stated that V2 of the chip is fixed but there seems to be an unreliable fix for V1. If your board has the V1 chip (which this one has), there's no promise your ethernet will work without a 3rd party expansion card.
