This phone is a STEAL

Samsung Galaxy Light (T-mobile) LTE Quad-Core 1.4GHz Cell Phone
Samsung Galaxy Light (T-mobile) LTE Quad-Core 1.4GHz Cell Phone

Pros: This is basically an S3/S4 in a smaller size. If you want the benefits of running a Samsung phone with the familiar interface and good quality but want something smaller than what is typically offered - this is the phone. It's running a quad core processor - that's not exactly entry level - and it has 1GB of RAM on top of that. None of the specs blow you away but they're all good. The screen is great and very responsive. The phone feels GREAT in the hand. It has all the main features you'd want and runs a current Android making it something that will last you a while.

Cons: 8GB of phone storage is poor. Buy a 32GB micro SD card to go in it and create a programs folder in that to install to. That will keep your phone storage from filling up in a month from program junk. Reception can be iffy but that's because we're on the border of LTE and 4G. We were getting 1 bar or none of the LTE so I tried turning off the LTE and it immediately picked up 5 bars of 4G. Head scratcher there but that is a great thing to try if you're having problems and if it works then you're set.

Overall Review: This is a brand new - no craigslist junk - Samsung Galaxy phone. It's smaller than the huge S series phones but still has a great processor, good RAM and a good screen (You can watch movies on this without a problem) plus a newer Android. I can go buy a 2 year old Galaxy S3 for T-Mobile used on craigslist for over 200 bucks or I can get this brand new for 150. EASY choice. This phone is great.

Good system - Take your time with the setup

Zmodo ZP-KE1H04-S 4CH NVR + 4 HD 720P Day/Night Outdoor sPoE IP Camera Smartphone Scan QR Code Quick Remote Access
Zmodo ZP-KE1H04-S 4CH NVR + 4 HD 720P Day/Night Outdoor sPoE IP Camera Smartphone Scan QR Code Quick Remote Access

Pros: Great picture during the day Pretty simple initial setup Good cable lengths - 2 50 footers and 2 80 footers Good interface Smartphone setup is a breeze

Cons: Cameras have trouble with spaces that can be both light and dark. While initial setup was simple, getting it tweaked how I want it took quite a while. The computer or internet viewing is not so simple as the smartphone one. It involves logging into your router and opening ports etc etc. One of my cameras fogged up, or smoked up when we started using it. I tried to contact Newegg about it and nobody replied. Neweggs email customer service these days really SUCKS. The camera goes in and out of being clear or fogged but it is mostly okay now.

Overall Review: Initial setup is great. Test the cameras, then mount where you want and run your cables carefully. Plug in your box and hook it to a monitor, then plug in the provided mini mouse. Put a hard drive in the box and the on screen guide will help you format it and set it up. Boom - you're up and running already! What you need to do next is up to what you're looking for. The resolution out of the box is down from the max - so I had to go to each camera and right click and set each one to the max. Then I set up the motion recording and full time recording info. I blocked out the street where cars go by so it wouldn't start full recording every time a car drove past (without motion it records in like 4 second intervals to save HDD space - then with motion it's in full video record mode). My smartphone setup was a breeze and it worked 100 miles away when I was showing someone - so that is great. Setting it up so you can view it from a laptop or any web browser in the world - NOT so simple. It involves logging into your router and opening ports and allowing this and that... not for the inexperienced computer person at all. I tweaked each camera for the best coverage but they have light and dark problems... for example I have one under our front entry which is covered. It points towards the covered front door to see who is there - but the angle is so wide that it also covers the front yard some too... well, under the cover is darker and out in the front yard is full light. So it tries to compensate for the light by darkening the picture but then it's tough to see the people at the front door - depending on what time of day it is and what light it is outside. The night view is pretty decent but don't expect to read a license plate or perfectly see a strangers face with it if there is much distance at all. It does the job of being a deterrent by itself and would certainly capture a crime within it's viewing range, but it would probably not be good enough footage to prosecute someone unless they were point blank. Make sure you TEST each camera BEFORE you mount it. One of mine smoked a little inside it before clearing away. The camera was foggy and continues to occasionally fog up. I'm still not sure what is wrong and Newegg WILL NOT ANSWER my emails about it. I've also tried contacting the manufacturer and not heard back. Overall this system is great for the money. Good cameras, very easy setup. You can get up and recording on all 4 cameras in less than 90 minutes depending on where you locate the cameras and how you hide your cables. The tweaking can be done over time as you get used to your system. I do recommend this system - just make sure you test everything before you install it... you don't want to have to undo all that work! =-)

Way Better than I thought

SAMSUNG Series 7 XE700T1A-A06US 4GB Memory 128GB SSD 11.6" 1366 x 768 Tablet PC with Docking Windows 7 Professional 64-Bit
SAMSUNG Series 7 XE700T1A-A06US 4GB Memory 128GB SSD 11.6" 1366 x 768 Tablet PC with Docking Windows 7 Professional 64-Bit

Pros: My tablet came in an unmarked brown box and was placed inside a clear air pad which was completely sufficient for shipping. It came with the tablet, the dock and 2 power cords - one for the tablet and one to leave connected to the dock. Once charged I booted it up and it immediately went into loading Windows 7 on it. The sticker on the back worked perfectly and within 20 minutes or so I was in a fresh copy of Windows 7. I went to the Samsung website to get drivers and whatnot from support but what another person said is true - I believe it's called Easy Software Manager. If you input XE700T1A-A06US on samsung .com it should bring up the page for downloads and you can look for that. Install that first and run it and it will help you download a bunch of other stuff including drivers for the accelerometer and sound etc. The wifi drivers in Windows 7 work fine. I upgraded to Windows 10 by forcing the upgrade (just google it). I had to try several methods to force it but finally found one that worked. The upgrade went smoothly and took close to an hour. Only a couple of the Samsung downloads didn't work with 10 but they didn't need to. Let me say - Windows 10 on this tablet is excellent. I use it in desktop mode - not tablet mode - and it works great. I changed it so the screen keyboard pops up anytime it predicts I need to type in text and used Windows update and the Device Manager to get the best and newest drivers for everything. Windows 10 is great on this thing. The i5 processor is fairly fast and it's in a tablet... pretty cool to have that kind of processing power in such a small form. I have had 8 internet windows open along with an Adobe pdf and MS Word and had no slow down at all. It powers through it well. The RAM seems to be more than enough for this tablet as well. My refurb had a few little scuffs and scratches on the bottom where it docks but other than that was perfect - like new. The screen had zero scratches and everything seems to function correctly. I hooked up a USB wired ethernet adapter to the USB port and Windows 10 recognized it immediately. Turned off wireless (which works fine) and used a wired connection for a while flawlessly too. Mine has a Samsung logo on the back but not on the front. Everything works how I'd hoped. High powered system in the size of a tablet with a nice sharp and bright touchscreen. Bonus I found... it boots in about 10 to 15 seconds from being completely turned off. Not sleep - off. Very nice perk.

Cons: The weight is a bit on the heavy side to hold for too long. The vents on the back do need to be open to the air - not blocked - or it will get hot fast. The operating system takes up a lot of space. By the time I upgraded to Windows 10 and got a few programs on there I was down to around 50GB of free space. Just run the Disk Cleanup on the hard drive and then after it scans click "Clean Up System Files " to clean up old Windows install files. If you have upgraded to Windows 10 like I did this will gain you a ton more space but you will not be able to go backwards back to Windows 7 after you do this. I loved Windows 7 but have no thoughts of ever going back. I wiped all those files and gained around 35GB more of free space.

Overall Review: Remember - Windows 10 has Windows Defender built in. It does Antivirus, Anti Spyware and surfing protection. So DON'T BUY more antivirus software. Its a waste of money and will slow you down. One of the first things I do with a computer is install Advanced System Care Free on it. It isn't too intrusive and it does some amazing things. I run it once a week or so to keep things cleaned up. I check it to scan everything except Vulnerability Fix (windows updates mostly) and Disk Defragment. It cleans a ton of stuff and keeps things running quickly. I also like to go into the toolbox and use the Startup manager. Programs you install these days all like to start all their own junk when Windows starts and you don't need it. Do yourself a favor and disable all their startup junk. It will greatly speed your system up. Then I also do the Turboboost and have that start with Windows. It disables several of the processes in Windows that normal users will never use at all and frees up RAM. It speeds things up without being an annoying intrusive program. Finally you'll want to go into the Advanced System Settings and then Performance, Settings, Advanced tab, Virtual Memory - Change button... uncheck Automatically manage and put in a custom setting of at least 4000 min to 8000 max. I set mine very high at 12K to 20K but that is probably overkill. It gives your system some more resources to use when taxed. This may not be a Surface Pro but it's close and it's about 700 bucks less. Shoot you'd be spending this amount on a Surface RT tablet 2 generations old and nobody wants Windows RT. This runs my desktop version of office, Adobe Firefox, even Quickbooks or my engineering program. Very portable and fairly powerful for under 300 bones is a very good deal. I'm happy so far.

5 years with Ooma

Ooma Telo VoIP Internet Voice Home Phone Service Box-Factory Recertified
Ooma Telo VoIP Internet Voice Home Phone Service Box-Factory Recertified

Pros: Free internet service - although now you do have to pay taxes. Works without a computer on at all. Mostly plug and play.

Cons: Occasionally there is delay or someone is hard to hear but it does not happen often.

Overall Review: We bought the original Ooma 5 years ago for about $160 and it came with a little Ooma Scout as well. At the time I was paying $25 a month to Qwest (now Centurylink). That comes out to $300 a year for our little used home phone service. We ported our number for $25 (at the time - it has since gone up I see) and cancelled our home phone service with high hopes. We were not disappointed. The unit was basically plug in and use it. No computers to turn on, no gimmicky stuff. It was a box that my home phone plugged into. And that was it. Here we sit - 5 years later - and we haven't had one problem. At the time we signed up for Ooma there was $0 in any fees including taxes so we bought the unit for $160 and haven't paid a penny since then for our home phone service. Do the math with me... 12 months x $25 = $300 $300 per year x 5 years = $1500 I paid $160 one time. $1500 - $160 = $1340 in savings over the years. Yah, I would say Ooma is a pretty decent deal. We've enjoyed free calling to anyone in the US for all that time without any cost. I hope it lasts another 5 years - this thing is wonderful. Don't think twice about it - buy a NEW Ooma and start saving money. In no time you'll be counting the savings. Typically on a new unit if it lasts you more than 6 to 8 months it will have paid for itself. Any time after that is basically free money in your pocket! Enjoy the savings!!!

Polk Audio Monitor70 Series II Floorstanding Loudspeaker (Black) Single
Polk Audio Monitor70 Series II Floorstanding Loudspeaker (Black) Single

Pros: They cover the full sound spectrum. Great full sound for home theater guys like me. They seem to be able to crush anything I throw at it with either a 70W / channel receiver or my nice Yamaha 120W / channel receiver. They both sound beautiful and full.

Cons: None - but I was able to fix a sound problem (please see other thoughts)

Overall Review: As many have said the speakers are big. Not a huge footprint but heavy and tall. You'll want to make sure you lean on them and rock them into your carpet for a good solid foundation. I noticed a problem developed with one of my Monitor70 speakers. The only sound I was getting was from the tweeter. I actually took the speaker completely apart checking all connections and I was ready to return it when I reseated the copper connector from the top speaker wire inputs to the bottom ones (bi-amping and all that). I run one set of awesome banana plug speaker wires from my Yamaha to these speakers and I leave these copper connectors in place. I found that it wasn't making a good connection. I wiped the connector down, reset it and twisted the knob down good and tight and low and behold my speaker was working again. All that work and it was just the stupid connector on the back. So try that first! =-) I have 2 Velodyne subs, Infinity bookshelf speakers on the side and Polk Monitor60's in the back for a nice 7.2 setup. I'm running the CS2 as my center. These Polks really brought my home theater to life as they put out a ton of sound from top to bottom accenting everything nicely.

Not recertified at all - repackaged defective

Sylvania SDVD8730 7" Dual-Screen Portable DVD Player
Sylvania SDVD8730 7" Dual-Screen Portable DVD Player

Pros: 2 decent screens SD card slot read AVI movies Carrying case comes with it Stereo Speakers on each screen

Cons: It didn't work. I loaded 3 different DVD's - original and burned copies. I also used an SD card with a couple movies on it. All options loaded where you could see the movie trying to start but then it would freeze. It was like the processing power of this DVD player couldn't handle processing a movie despite it being a movie player. The player froze every time within seconds of showing an image to the point where I had to physically power the machine off and back on again. This was supposed to be RECERTIFIED. Meaning it broke or was returned once, put through some tests and made to work correctly before shipping it back out. DON'T BELIEVE IT. These units were obviously not retested before sending them back out. They were probably powered on and if they turned on they were stamped okay to ship. I will never purchase a Sylvania product again knowing now how they do their business and treat their products.

Overall Review: My kids were excited to get it in. Disappointed to see it go back in the box about an hour later. What a piece of trash. On the bright side Newegg RMA was about as easy as it gets. Just contacted them and they gave me a UPS prepaid return label and an RMA number. Item went back in the box it came in with the new label and the only cost to me was an hour of messing with the broken product and some tape to tape the box back up. Thank you Newegg for being an advocate for your customers with these junky brands.

CHEATERS!

I bought items for $26 that turned out to be JUNK. I returned them through Newegg to an address provided which turned out to be a wrong address for $5.50. The items were returned back to sender (me). I returned them to the correct address - this time for over $6.50 (across country). The seller refunded me minus $3.90 for a restocking fee. All told I am out $5.50 + $6.50 + $3.90 = $15.90 for a bad $26 purchase. So to return my product I lost 60% of my original purchase price!!! The seller is unapologetic and puts it all on me despite the flaws in the product and the complete garbage that it was. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS SELLER!
