Satisfied
Pros: I have an external WD 500 GB that I was using over USB but it also had the option to use eSATA. I finally configured my PC with external eSATA ports, and now my transfer rates quadroupled. I really didn't expect such a dramatic boost and I couldn't be more pleased.
Cons: I wish the eSATA specifications allowed stable connections over longer distances but that is unrelated to the quality of this cable.
Overall Review: No complaints yet. Cable works as advertised.
one stick failed after 4 months
Pros: Two sticks worked great for 64 bit Windows 7
Cons: After 4 months, all of a sudden my operating system, programs and data started becoming extremely corrupt, blue screens. Ran memory tests, one of the sticks went horribly bad. Of course it happens after the return period.
Ordered 2, one DOA
Pros: The one that wasn't DOA works just fine with my USB 3.0 externals
Cons: One was DOA and the return shipping cost is almost as much as I paid originally.
Failed after 3 years
Pros: It worked great until it failed
Cons: It took 3 years and it began to fail with loss of power.
Not for the Pro users
Pros: Well, so far it does hold over 900GB of data...
Cons: MUCH noisier than my Seagate 1TB. Even worse, it has this terrible lag that freezes the whole system for a few moments after a small period of inactivity, apparently it goes to sleep a lot. Also meaning I will never be able to use it in RAID.
Overall Review: Fortunately I'm only using it as a second backup drive for mostly static data. Plus I was curious how it would stack up to other brands in the 1TB zone. I'll see in a few months if this drive randomly fails or not.
FAILED after 3 months
Pros: Worked great until it failed.
Cons: Was working just fine for 3 months, had two partitions, one for Vista 64 bit and another for data storage. One day I started my computer and it defaulted to my secondary drive with a backup OS, seagate drive was since unrecognizable. Seagate wants $ for shipping and I will likely just recieve a refurb of the same model. No thanks.
Overall Review: Just went ahead and purchased a WD 1TB, I'm not going to waste any more of my hard-earned money on a seagate.
