Pros: Works as advertised. Great for server storage constantly being accessed via the network.
Cons: They do seem to run a little hot but proper ventilation fixes that.
Overall Review: I bought the first one 4 months ago to test in one of my servers. It performance was very consistent and reliable. Its worked out so great for me I bought another and then another. I have three more planned.
Its a shame so many people are getting DOA and a greater shame that this trend is growing across the industry. Too often it seems that when I order more than 2 products the chances of a DOA increase exponentially. If I buy over 5 products its almost guaranteed that something will be dead.
Pros: I bought this to move a RAID set further away from the CPU in a pretty tight 2U server chassis. 3 WD Reds front loaded with their own fan greatly reduces the heat inside the 2U.
Its not noisy at all and works perfectly.
Cons: Why are there 2 4 pin molex connectors in the back instead of SATA? I had to break out a 4 pin modular cable (adding another cable to the mix) just to get this installed.
Overall Review: Could use an option to turn off the 3 LEDs. Luckily my 2U case has a door over the chassis and its covered but just how many LEDs do I need in my house these days?
Pros: Great CFM:DBA ratio. This thing moves air and keeps the CPU cool. I have a AMD Phenom II 1100T, and while not the best CPU on the market i did run this thing maxed out for a couple of hours (not Over Clocked) and my CPU never got above 40c.
Cons: Mounting, Mounting, Mounting.
I have never seen such a horrible mounting design in my life. The under bracket isnt stable and has no self retaining abilities. You have to lay your motherboard on a flat surface while the back bracket bubbles out causing a rocking back and forth of the Mobo while you try to push the "too short" screws down to meet the threads.
Luckily I have a shop and went to manufacture a new back plate and use my own screws.
Overall Review: I removed an egg for the mounting bracket and for others it may be more important but for me its just minus 1 egg.
Also, incase you didnt notice, this is 135mm which = HUGE!! Do not try to install this in a Medium case, full towers only. I did not minus a egg for this because I bought it knowing full well what this is.
Pros: It work and does extend USB.
Cons: Its USB 1 and if your planning on using it for fast data transfer you'll be upset.
Overall Review: I guess Newegg has decided that if you omit USB description then you should assume its USB 1. Lesson learned Ill inquire if its USB 2 before buying next time.
I bought this to extend the connection between my Cannon and my Laptop through DSLR PRo so the session producer could see the shots in real time.
Needless to say it couldnt do that job.
Pros: Ive built 4 machines using this case over the past year and all my clients are happy. Great air flow, great space, great ideas for hard drive storage.
Cons: Plugging in the HDDs can be a bit weird if you dont have both doors off the machine.
Overall Review: I really dont like doors on PCs I wish they had a version without the door on the front.
Pros: Works as advertised
Cons: I had to order this twice, the first set came DOA. Now Ive often seen one stick be DOA but both of these were. I had assumed it was the MOBO because how could both sticks be bad. So I ended up ordering a new Mobo first and when that arrived I still had a zero post issue. I then ordered new RAM and the problem was fixed.
Overall Review: Decent but for the same price you can get a more reliable brand. I used this on the off chance of testing a new brand. However I will not use it again.
Pros: Easy assembly, Aluminum, Works as advertised, eSATA worked perfectly.
Cons: The Blue LED could be less bright.
Overall Review: Ive been building Ex-HDDs for years now and have gone through every brand and model out there. This one not only impressed me with the easy setup, but the eSATA fired up perfectly on XP, Vista, and Windows 7.
Many models will cause your PC to refuse to post while on. However with this one my PC's booted perfectly with this thing left on, in both USB and eSATA mode.
By far if your looking for a good external hard drive case with NO FAN for a good price? This is the one.
Pros: This thing is Ole Reliable. I bought it to replace my dieing 8800GTX that I overclock Day 0. I have NOT OC'd this and it runs very nice.
Overall Review: Its not the KING. Its not a GTX 200 its not even a GTX. Its also not a 4870 but for what it is its great.
If your looking at getting a card to game with but you dont want to shell out massive bucks; then this is the one to get.
Plus good ole BFG's lifetime warrenty doesnt hurt either. Just dont OC it or you kill your Warrenty.
Pros: Works as advertised. I bought these because the timings matched my other 4GB. Wanted to wait a while before i posted some info.
Cons: none really, just be expecting more then what it is.
Overall Review: Not for overclocking. Dont even think about it. You will get a little out of it but not enough to make it worth the shortend life.
Pros: Works like they say.
I have had this thing running over night cooling a Phenom 9850 overclocked to 2.81. It kept the temp from going above 59C for over 24 hours while running Prime95. No errors no warnings.
Cons: Big, You have to take off your mobo to fit it. It doesnt sit high enough to clear some of the taller RAM models like the Corsair Dominators.
Overall Review: The clearance on this thing really needs to be higher. I have 6GB in this machine and luckily I had my Corsair XMS' with the LEDs in first channel and they fit under this beast. I also didnt much care for the installation instructions, I realize they have to print many languages but its a bit confusing.
I have a Asus Crosshair Mobo and this thing fits very well on it.
Pros: Unlocked Multiplier, Quad Core, Easily overclocked, Fixed B3 stepping, No TLB bug. Its AMD. I got this baby running at 2.97GHz on my first shot with just air cooling, Using the Asus Silent Square EVO 92mm.
Cons: Uses alot of Voltage, Maxes out at 1.59V cant overclock past 3.2. (Well I cant get it stable above there)
Overall Review: Be sure to update your Bios FIRST. There are alot of updates out at this time. If you already have a AM2 board then this is the one for you. This thing compares real well with the Q6600 and costs almost the same (except if you went and got that Q6600 youll have to buy a new mobo as well)
Pros: I love this thing, I bought it last year and Ive been kicking it but ever since. I have it over clocked to 2.8Ghz and its running great with air cooling only. I wanted to get a year in before I wrote anything for this product.
Ive been running Vista since RC1 on this thing and Vista x64 since last March, this baby cruises.
Cons: Its locked at x13 OC so I had to raise the FSB to get a good OC on this thing. No problem I used watercooling on my chipset and VGA and got away with air on the CPU.
It doesnt really compete with the slightly higher priced Core 2 Duo's out there.
Overall Review: This is a great processor for its price and will crush anything in this price range.
