Honestly didn't expect much for $200. I went for this because of the insane price of a 7.2k laptop drive these days. Even a 500GB 7.2k drive is more than $100. Now my MacBook Pro boots in 10 seconds flat.
TRIM works in Mac after using Trim Enabler
Trim works in Windows boot camp by default.
Cons: Had to update the firmware because the drive sounds very unstable from other reviews.
Firmware update utility doesn't work in Mac because it doesn't allow switching from AHCI to IDE so I had to use a desktop.
Overall Review: OCZ rebates are great. I was given an option between AMEX gift card or check. Asked for check. Also had an option for rushed processing at the cost of $3.
Pros: Very clean, articulate bass, warm mids, and very clear highs. also very well balanced despite the huge amount of bass these produces. got these as a set of review headphones from monster, the tips feel very nice and comfortable too.
Cons: wires is a bit bad, they're the tangley type, why they didnt include the dr dre tours wires is beyond me, specially when monster is a cable company. the part of the cable near the plug looks like it will easily break and frail, and monster's 1 year warranty is pretty short.
Overall Review: was very surprised that monster could create such a fine product despite their overpriced and mediocre quality cables that dominate their operations
Pros: Great ram, overclocks very nicely, looks stylish and cool with the blue glow.
Cons: incompatible with certain motherboards (doesnt post), got bios update and fixed this.
Overall Review: should be cheaper.
Pros: Very small, stores 8GB
Cons: price is somewhat noncompetitive
Overall Review: would be nicer if the 8GB writing was engraved
Pros: great looking case, ive actually replaced almost everything except the framwork itself because fan wasnt powerful enough for such a tiny case and modern processors, psu was trash. if you want something quality, get the thermaltake lanbox that my friend has.
Cons: fan doesnt have high cfm, not 3 pin so no throttle, i had this for about 10 months now, the psu started smelling like burnt rubber then it let out a miniexplosion that was contained in the casing so its fine, i took it apart to take a look and theres a fried cable casing from shortage, be careful of the temp probes, they die if theres close contact with the cpu and high heat (above 80c) as both of mine (one was in the 88800gt and another in amd x2 4000+.
front usb somehow didn't work for me so i just got rid of it altogether.
Overall Review: the use of psu isnt recommended, it's hot to the touch and burning to hold at system idle, 430w should hold for my brisbane processor and my 8800gt but it doesnt. bought a ocz stealthxstream and everythings back to normal, if you game at all, i suggest u get another psu to be safe.
Pros: moves lots of air, using this with my cpu heatsink
Cons: noise, but thats expected with a 4k rpm fan. thats almost as fast as a slow hard drives rpm. at max, it sounds like a 747 taking off but most of the time from a foot away, it wont even get as high as 25% with fan throttling.
Overall Review: the review before me, this fan is a 12 volt dc fan, not a 5v. panaflo fans are generally great if you don't mind the noise level. its a cheaper alternative to watercooling which i cant afford.
Pros: great fan, little noise, tons of power, very cheap with that mail in rebate. (brings it down to $45 for a very quality psu), high wattage, very long cables, more molex (5) and sata (3) than most people need
Cons: size is a little big, barely fits in my small formfactor matx case (apevia xqpack), too much cabling, in my tiny case, it looks very messy
Overall Review: loads of unused connectors, specially dual cpu headers. most dual cpu mobo will come with a splitter. almost used a bag of 100 zip ties just to tie them on the rails to improve airflow
Pros: moves lots of air, choice of blue led color is great, quiet even at 100%, 3 pin to 4 pin molex adapter useful, fan speed is throttleable
Cons: not that i can think of, the noise is a less than a hum from a foot away, i bought this thinking it will give me 747 takeoff sound. the leds get slightly brighter when at full power than at 25%. you have to look very closely in order to tell
Overall Review: comes with nice accessory although i don't really need them.
Pros: cheap, looks nice
Cons: front fake fan raddles, fan quality is very bad, company went out of business so don't expect any rma's or anything
Overall Review: do not buy, i paid almost $100 for the black version of this a little while ago and the only reason why i bought it was because i had a $80 rebate. they went out of business so i wont be seeing those $80 again.
Pros: almost silent, fast read speeds, probably fastest 7k200 hd out there, legacy power support (4pin molex)
Cons: oem, no cables no nothings whatsoever
Overall Review: buy retail, the money u save buying oem will cost more if u need the cable
Pros: good brand, epp, looks nice, got memory cooler included
Cons: doesnt work well with non epp boards
Overall Review: cheap, even for non epp memory
Pros: small compact, has usb port, sofar read speeds very fast
Overall Review: the cd is useless, nobody need driver anymore, save the environment and not waste plastics
Pros: great dvd drive, liteon has the best error correction and adv sector scan for reading scratched disks, lightscribe is always good
Cons: no cables whatsoever, lightscribe disks r very expensive
Overall Review: i needed to buy an sata cable from local pc store, buy retail version, the dollars u save buying oem will cost more if u need sata cable also no lightscribe or nero software included
Pros: everything is included that ull ever need, great for budget pc because of intergrated gfx, some uv reactive parts, good software and driver updates on foxconn website, intergrated gfx can play almost any modern game on lowest setting, boards very colorful
Cons: intergrated gfx isnt crossfire compatible with my 2400pro, optional firewire should be built into the board, epp memory doesnt work well
Overall Review: infrared connectors on board?? ive never seen that before on any motherboards...
Pros: looks very good, controls fan somewhat, not like the others have mentioned about breaking in a couple weeks
Cons: DO NOT PUT THE WHOLE SENSOR ON THE CPU, PUT ONLY THE TIP or else itll burn it up like i did, its hard to read from the sides, theres too many cables which make it a mess
Overall Review: should include some cable management solution, i have matx case so it looks messy
Pros: it glows with anything thats uv reflective
Cons: not bright at all, it looks purplish blue, broke the second day i got it, too lazy to send it back and get refund, not worth the pain
Overall Review: velcro shoulda been better, sound activated module should be included
Pros: great temperatures considering my matx case and stock amd x2 4000+ brisbane cooler, it runs around 35-40 idle and 40-45 gaming
Cons: tube is a little small for more than a couple applications, very sticky and hard to wash off or get off the cpu, HEAT UP (LEAVE COMP ON FOR A WHILE) BEFORE TURNING IT ON or else itll pull the cpu right off the socket
Overall Review: nothing really...
Pros: very good graphics card, quiet. i can play halo 2 with max graphics setting w/o vsync, the ati drivers are also very stable unlike the nvidia ones for vista
Cons: poor overclocking, burns quickly, runs around 70 during gaming in my matx case
Overall Review: the box is kind of ugly, it doesnt look like its directed to gamers but rather anime fans
Pros: looks nice, both the power supply and the fan glows blue. sliding motherboard tray, temperature monitor, small
Cons: cpu temperature monitor burns on contact with the cpu, never put the whole sensor on the cpu, put only the tip on. handle is very flimsy, back motherboard tray warped when it got shipped to me, i had to hammer it back or else the mobo doesnt go back on. cooling is an issue but i flipped the fan to blow in instead of out. the case is crammed and 8800 series of gfx cards arent gonna fit at all, difficult if not impossible to mod the case to fit them. i got a ati 2400pro instead cause its shorter and its quieter cause theres no fans. the included fan is also very noisy and doesnt have fan speed control (its a molex 4pin connector)
Overall Review: a manual would have been nice along with more screws and cable ties
