LG 42LD550
Pros: -Great picture and color -Good blacks and whites for a LCD -Very nice contrast ratio -Easy[for me]to set up and calibrate without any manuals or disc -Trumotion makes games and shows look nice if you keep the setting low.
Cons: These are only things I had happen to me and is not intended to represent every unit. My TV did not come with a stand, called Newegg and they had me call LG. LG was very helpful and sent out a new one free of charge. I've noticed a "bright" spot on the lower left side of the screen right on the edge. I've found with calibrating it goes down substantially but it is still there and a annoyance. I plan to use the 1 year warranty with LG in about 9 months to get it repaired or replaced. The bright spot is only noticeable when there is a very dark scene, on loading screens and the black bars under and above some movies. Unless you are actually looking for it you won't really notice it.
Overall Review: Over all very happy with the TV, I gave it 5 stars despite the cons I have because like I mentioned above, these are isolated incidents and I feel the quality of this television is top notch.
Great Value
Pros: - 90-Day Gigabyte Warranty - HDMI 2.1 - DLSS 2.0 - 50W over reference spec - Cool and quiet for 270W It looks brand new; everything works as it should. Performance is excellent, a significant upgrade over Vega56. Ideal for 1440p and entry-level 4K. DLSS is much better than I anticipated. Not worth overclocking the core; it reaches ~1950-1980Mhz out of the box. However, it is worth overclocking the GDDR6 to 7500Mhz increasing bandwidth from 14Gbps to 15Gbps. All GDDR6 can easily handle this.
Cons: 8GB VRAM could become an issue at 4K. Don't bother with Ray Tracing, it's fun to play around with, but ultimately RT should be reserved for RTX 4080+ performance levels.
Overall Review: At this price, it's a good deal in the current market. It should serve as a nice stop-gap until the 5000 series. Overall I'm happy with the purchase.
Gigabyte G1 Gaming GTX 970
Pros: This thing is fast, cool and quiet. Advertised clocks are 1178Mhz/1329Mhz. Mine arrived @ 1177Mhz/1405Mhz out of the box and can OC to 1500+Mhz with no voltage bump. IDK if that's normal or I just got a high binned chip, but this card is a monster for the price. The TDP is 244W and the cooling solution will allow for some big overclocks. I think temperature will be an issue before max frequency is. Gigabyte also hand selects every chip, look up Gigabyte gauntlet testing.
Cons: Slight coil whine/buzz when under about 50% load or greater. This isn't really a bad thing, just an annoyance. However, I can barely hear it over fans/hdd, in game with speakers up or headphones on I hear nothing. If there ever is an issue, which I doubt, Gigabyte offers a 3 year warranty.
Overall Review: Replaced a GTX 580(max oc) and the 970 is about a 60% increase in power. For the price this is a steal.
PS3 Slim 120gb
Pros: It only does everything =p 40nm technology for cooler operation with less power consumption. Very quite operation, when there is a game, movie or song playing you can not hear the system running at all. Quieter than the Xbox by leaps.
Cons: XBL is superior to PSN. Especially on titles like GTA4 and RDR. If PSN was on par wilth XBL for parties and matchmaking I would pay the $50 a year for it, hands down.
Overall Review: I was a Xbox fanboy since the 360 launch. I finally decided to buy a PS3 for the blu-ray and exclusives. I was very impressed with the PS3 from the moment I first powered it on. I suppose first impressions do last forever, the PS3 has taken over as my main gamer/media center and the Xbox now only plays exclusives. Very happy with my purchase and as always Newegg rocks with the fast shippin enthings.
PS3 Controller - Black
Pros: -Well built - Light weight - Great battery life
Cons: -Xbox 360 controller is superior for online FPS games
Overall Review: Newegg rocks. fast shipping. =)
Great cable for the price
Pros: Works exactly as it should. Cable seems to be well built.
Cons: None.
Overall Review: Do not pay top dollar for these cables that claim to give you a better picture. HDMI is a digital signal. No cable, no matter how expensive, will not make a difference. Newegg rocks as usual fast shipping an everything. =)
