Decent server for the price

TYAN B5191G20V4H 1U Rackmount Barebone Server LGA 775 Intel 3000 DDRII 667/533
TYAN B5191G20V4H 1U Rackmount Barebone Server LGA 775 Intel 3000 DDRII 667/533

Pros: Overall this is a great server for the price. Running 4x750GB SATA drives. The fourth drive bay is very tight when a drive is in the sled. Make sure to flash to the lastest bios.

Cons: FSB doesn't support 1333 Xeon Processors. The bundle offered by newegg includes a 1333 Xeon processort which won't work together. The included CD doesn't boot. You can still pull drivers from it.

Works but not with remote desktop

SIIG USB2.0 to VGA Pro External Video Card Display Extender JU-VG0012-S1
SIIG USB2.0 to VGA Pro External Video Card Display Extender JU-VG0012-S1

Pros: * Price * Easy Install * Works on XP ( but not after remote desktop session)

Cons: * Screws up the displays after a remote desktop connection * Drivers can be a bit of an issue

Overall Review: We have this installed on a few xp machines for a 3rd monitor. Everything works as expected until you start remote desktoping into the machine and then come back and physically login. On the physical login the siig driver causes at least one of the other screens to drop and takes over as the primary or it will cause the screens to flicker and requires an uninstall of the driver before working again. Still troubleshooting this with SIIG. After speaking to their Tech support they mentioned that people don't usually use this with remote desktop configs. Trying a beta driver currently but these units may have to be replaced shortly for my RD users.

Won't be using WD anymore

Western Digital RE3 WD1002FBYS 1TB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive
Western Digital RE3 WD1002FBYS 1TB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: They were not seagates

Cons: So after two seagate failures in our iscsi arrays in under a year and all the issues with seagate firmware lately I decided to switched over to the WD RE3s in 500gb and 1tb in our last iscsi build. So far out of 24 drives we have had to RMA 9 in under 6 months. I am now back to buying seagate and replacing the WD when they fail with segates. Much better drives all around.

Adequate for small foot print machines

APEVIA X-QPACK-NW-BK/420 Black Aluminum 1.0 w/ ABS plastic front panel Micro ATX Desktop Computer Case 420W Power Supply
APEVIA X-QPACK-NW-BK/420 Black Aluminum 1.0 w/ ABS plastic front panel Micro ATX Desktop Computer Case 420W Power Supply

Pros: We have deployed 65 of these units with intel board in them as replacements for Dell machines over the last two years. We have just started moving to the Apevia X-Qpack2 with newer builds. Over the last two years we have had only minor issues with 4 of these units. - one unit has a bad audio jack in the front - two units have dead lcd displays - one unit has an lcd display that flickers Yes the case is a tight fit once you get everything bundled up but thats the price you pay for small cases.

Cons: The overall workmanship of these units is average but they do what we need them to do. The motherboard tray and top cover are very light metal. The Ultra Microflys are actually a better case but unfortunately not available at newegg. It would be nice if there were a way to add a card to the system without having to disconnect some of the cables and slide the tray out. LCD displays seem to be an issue. Power supplies are not the best but have yet to have any issues with 65 we have.

Overall Review: They do what we need them to do...they are small and they run without any major issues. I can't say the same for the Dell Optiplex's that they replaced.
