Why I've never purchased another brand
Pros: Quite simple here. It still works. Highest speed my board will handle. Works well while keeping cool.
Cons: Just sad I can only use 8GB max. No problems here.
Overall Review: I have to put this first: Check your laptop specifications first! Make sure everything matches up. Also check for maximum amount supported. The only 'con' to this is the price. But, you really do get what you pay for here. I've used Kingston since I built my first rig in '02. Aside from one stick getting a static shock that would kill any chip I have had zero problems. I should note that the stick continued to work for a few months after. I only pulled it because when my memory would fill up it would write to a bad sector and you get the blue screen of death. Most rigs are sold with 2GB of RAM on Windows 7 Home. That's about 1GB for Windows then add in the misc. bloatware from your manufacturer and... it's gone. Your 2GB of RAM is down to a few MB. I had 4GB in mine. Upgrade to Professional so Windows takes 2GB now. Dedicate 1GB to my video card add in bloatware and it's gone. PC takes from the video card, video performance slow and you have a mess. Don't have a mess. Upgrade your laptop with some Kingston RAM. You may get the odd DOA stick, it happens. Don't get mad, Newegg is usually good about exchanges.
Wonderful Product
Pros: Can't say it is better than the rest as I've never used anything else. Just know it works very well. Replaced my stock goo on my Toshiba Satellite A505. Had overheating problems when I was gaming. Clean-up was easy with the Arctic Silver cleaner, compound spreads easily so the job went quick. The difference in performance and temperature is just amazing.
Cons: None so far. I'm not 100% happy with my application. In a month I'll reapply and update as to the condition of the compound. I expect it to hold up well under high loads.
Overall Review: My laptop did need a good cleaning. The cooling fan was caked in dust along with the heat-sink. Stock goo was everywhere on the CPU and GPU. Cleaning took longer than anything else. Lowered my core temp 20 C, and now my PC doesn't run at 100% load what it used to idle. Oh, did I mention I just did this yesterday and it still has to cure? My Gen 6 Intel beat a couple Gen 7 models on a benchmark. I just can't be happier with this product.
