Most Critical Review

Sorry, not for a compact ITX build

Cooler Master GM Series G550M - Compact 550W 80 PLUS Bronze Modular PSU (6th Generation Skylake Compatible)
Cooler Master GM Series G550M - Compact 550W 80 PLUS Bronze Modular PSU (6th Generation Skylake Compatible)

Pros: It is a compact unit and the modular design makes it more flexible. The big 120mm fan is pretty quiet too

Cons: The cables that are attached are wrapped in some sort of stiff plastic mesh that makes them really stiff. One of the images shows the power supply in the very case I used for an ITX build, but it doesn't show the thick, stiff cables bent into the case. In fact, if I had needed an optical drive, I wouldn't have had place to stuff them. The modular cables, too, are some stiff, flat plastic material which is hard to bend. The drive connectors at the end are angled, but in my case (again, the one in the illustration) the drives are mounted flat against the wall and floor of the case and the connectors are therefore angled the wrong way around, making them useless for attaching to the drives.

Overall Review: Electronically, this is a great little power supply. Ergonomically, it is a failure for a compact build. I'm sure it would be just great in a full tower case, though

Worst Seagate drive I've ever owned

Seagate FireCuda Gaming SSHD 1TB SATA 6.0Gb/s 2.5" Notebooks / Laptops Internal Hard Drive ST1000LX015

Pros: Small Fast Quiet

Cons: Poor durability, reliability

Overall Review: Bought this to replace a perfectly functioning Seagate 250Gb drive from 2007. Was using it on a gaming computer to store documents and photos that are rarely accessed. Only had about 130 Gb of data on it. Lasted all of 4 months. Started throwing up S.M.A.R.T errors, causing Blue Screens, sometimes not even showing up in the list of drives. I have replaced it with a 5-yr old drive from another manufacturer. Bet it will last longer than 4 months.
