Decent, inexpensive little cooler

ID-COOLING SE-213 CPU Cooler 120mm PWM Fan, 3 Direct Touch Heatpipes, Big Airflow High Cooling Performance
ID-COOLING SE-213 CPU Cooler 120mm PWM Fan, 3 Direct Touch Heatpipes, Big Airflow High Cooling Performance

Pros: Good value for smaller cases that need a little extra cooling.

Cons: Product finish not stellar, high effort to install.

Overall Review: Bought this cooler for a Micro ATX mid tower case (running AMD) that wouldn't accommodate a taller cooler like the Hyper 212 EVO. On the plus side, it comes assembled to install on the AMD sockets, but I deducted half an egg each for the following: 1. Noticed the finish on the bottom of the heatsink plate (the part that contacts the IHS) was imperfect, some marring and gouges where the grinder went a little nuts. 2. Although compatible with AM2, AM3 and FM2 sockets, mine required a ridiculous amount of effort to actually get the bracket to lock into place. I was sure the force would either damage the CPU, socket or both, or literally snap the board in half. But I got it locked in place and the PC is no worse for wear. Still...

Not pretty, gets the job done.

APEX PC-389-C Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case
APEX PC-389-C Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: Inexpensive, serves its purpose

Cons: Ugly as the day is long

Overall Review: General statement about all Apex cases - they generally feel sturdier than other budget offerings, have little perks like removable drive bays, etc. and they are among the least attractive product line currently available. This case is no exception, and underscores the need to hire only designers who can actually see the design themselves.

NOT AN ATX MID TOWER CASE AND DOES NOT SUPPORT MOST ATX MOTHERBOARDS

DIYPC Solo-T1-R Black USB 3.0 ATX Mid Tower Gaming Computer Case with 2 x Red Fans (1 x 120mm LED Fan x Front, 1 x120mm Fan x Rear) Pre-installed

Pros: Inexpensive Acceptable quality for the price

Cons: Is not what it says it is

Overall Review: I bought this case to house a Ryzen 3 2200G test system, in an attempt to duplicate the cooling conditions many budget builders would encounter once they assembled their systems. Although this case is described as an ATX mid tower case, it is not. It is roughly 2.25" shorter front to back than any of the actual ATX mid tower cases I measured it against, and lacks the height of an actual ATX mid tower case as well. It is a micro-ATX case that has been half-fast engineered to accept SOME ATX motherboards, specifically those built on the narrow, 12" X 8.8" PCBs - I assume... I can tell you that a full-size ATX board simply will not fit. It's not even close to fitting. So, if you are using a budget ATX board, there's a chance the edge of your board MIGHT not end up resting against the metal frame of the case. Or it might. Roll the dice and find out. Or, just stick to cases that are accurately classified, because this one is not. This review should apply to all the Solo-T1 cases Other thoughts: Paid for a new case, received an open box case with front panel wires hanging everywhere and hardware clanging around inside the case. Not a huge deal considering the price of the item, but noteworthy because... I'm pretty sure I'll be able to revisit this product page a year from now and this item will still be incorrectly described, and further I'm betting I'll find more reviews like this one, describing to the vendor exactly why the return rates on this thing are above average. IF ONLY it were cheaper to fix the description instead of processing return after return after return...

BIOSTAR TA970 Ver. 5.3 AM3+ AMD 970 + SB950 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard with UEFI BIOS
BIOSTAR TA970 Ver. 5.3 AM3+ AMD 970 + SB950 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard with UEFI BIOS

Pros: Price, feature set

Cons: Primitive BIOS, limited OC features

Overall Review: I've used these boards in numerous customer builds and two of my systems are running them, and I've had no serious problems woith them yet. The TA 970 has great features for the price, a three-year warranty and like all AM3+ boards sockets a huge number of processors. I wouldn't try OC'ing a 125W chip but the VRM handles lower-wattage CPUs with no problems. This board is a great choice for anyone wanting some extra performance / OC capability in a budget build.

Description and Rebate Incorrect

ASUS PCE-N53 Dual-Band Wireless-N600 Adapter IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n PCI Express Up to 300Mbps downlink+300Mbps uplink Wireless Data Rates (Asus Certified)

Pros: Seemed like a good deal, arrived with all hardware and accessories.

Cons: Described as a 600 Mbps adapter and is not, it's only 300 Mbps. Also described as having a rebate attached to it - it does not.

Overall Review: Clearly a mistake by the content team - actually two mistakes. Sending it back on favor of a new product.

Good little card

SAPPHIRE DUAL-X Radeon R7 265 2GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 CrossFireX Support Video Card 100370L

Pros: Runs cool and exhibits good performance, a great value for a budget gaming system.

Cons: I've bought several of these recently and can't get the rebate until they start a new promo.

Overall Review: I've put these in several cases running AMD and Intel platforms. They run cool compared to the XFX single-fan model, which I've seen climb toward 80 Celsius when benchmarking. With the OEM cooling solution the Sapphire card never goes above 65 Celsius no matter what.

The Real Deal

Product arrived as described and within a few days. Vastly superior to the silicone pad sold on any other site, the inclusion of which names are verboten by Newegg, this product is great for prepping your video card for liquid cooling or just to replace the cheap pads installed at the factory. Much better heat transfer for better cooling and longer life. Pad is sufficient to do 3 or 4 GPUs.
