Great memory, good price5/22/2009 10:29:46 AM

Pros: Run at the specified 4-4-4-12 on my g31 mobo. I can't change voltage so it gets the 1.87v my motherboard gives everything.

Cons: The heatsink on one stick wasn't well seated on the chips and i didn't see any thermal transfer glop on 'em. They run cool though so i don't think it's an actual issue.

Overall Review: I'm very happy with this memory, it works just like it's supposed to.

Great drive, great price4/13/2009 12:38:12 PM

Pros: Very quiet, SATA is almost silly in how simple it is to hook up. It's a hard drive, it does it's job.

Cons: 320gigaBITs not 320gigaBYTEs, but that's the same as every other storage device built. Still annoying though.

Overall Review: Coming from the 90's computer wise the concept of 320Gb for $50 is stupefying to me, but i approve!

Great cpu4/13/2009 12:35:32 PM

Pros: Very fast for $72, runs wprime32 1.5x in 33 seconds, compared to my p4 prescott 3.2's 88.

Cons: None i can think of, it works perfectly.

Overall Review: Friend of mine that has the same cheap custom build i do (it's hard to beat) has run his up to 3.3ghz simply by bumping the FSB up, the G31 board he has doesn't support voltage changes or multiplier changes so he's still at 1.2 volts, that's on the OEM cooler too, it runs between 44 and 60*c in room temps from 12*c to 32*c. $72 for a 3.3ghz@1.2v chip is very good IMO. Your mileage may vary of course.

Works great4/13/2009 12:30:02 PM

Pros: Works great, burns a 700mb cd in 2:43, burns a 4gb dvd in 11 minutes.

Cons: None i can think of.

Overall Review: I'd forgotten how much i hate IDE cables, they're a real pain compared to SATA, but i didn't want to slow the sata controller down with the dvd burner. Considering that i built computers for a living in the late 90's i should have remembered. In any case, i'm very happy with this drive, and with only the single IDE cable it's not hard to route it away from everything.

Pros: Cheap, powerful, quiet.

Cons: Fans don't run as high as i would like them to, even with the thermosensor stuffed into the CPU heatsink.

Overall Review: Didn't fit my old mATX case very well as it is larger then the case manufacturer expected the PS to be, that's more an issue with the case though (when i say old, i mean from ~2003).

Excellent card for the price4/13/2009 12:24:27 PM

Pros: Fast, runs cool, quiet fan. Drivers can do CPR on the card if it eats it. Runs oblivion smoothly at 1280x1024 full graphic options (no AA), guessing 40-50fps outdoors in the sun, even when levitating at high altitude. Works great even on low end G31 pcie-x16 1.0 boards. Has a little red LED to remind you to plug the extra power connector in.

Cons: Current drivers (9.3) have issues with Folding@home GPU, they randomly crash. On the plus side the drivers detect that and resurrect it.

Overall Review: The GPU heatsink covers the motherboard battery on the ECS G31 el-cheapo board i have, why they put the battery there i'll never know, but it's not really the cards fault. I'm very happy with this card.

Great board for the price4/13/2009 12:18:06 PM

Pros: Cheap, does exactly what it says it will.

Cons: Little in the way of overclocking options if you're into that, but you should know that as none of the G31 boards are built for that. When it says ddr2-667/800 it means it, 533 will not function at all.

Overall Review: It only has two memory settings, labeled "667" and "800" in bios. It actually means 5:3 and 2:1 ram:fsb. If you're into overclocking you'll have to set it at 667 and buy some fast ram if you want more then 240mhz fsb. The only overclocking control is fsb in one mhz increments. Ram timings are all adjustable too. Overall i am very happy with it, hence the five eggs. It's exactly what i thought it would be.

Fast and snazzy, but dubious quality4/13/2009 12:14:02 PM

Pros: Cheap after rebate. Very cool looking. Pretty fast.

Cons: Sending in the rebate kills your warranty (both require the UPC). One stick died at SPD voltage (1.87volts) after a week of use, it wasn't hot, the voltage was far below it's rated max, no good reason for it's death. Not actually that fast considering the $50 price tag (before rebate), after this died i got another 2x2gb kit with 4-4-4-12@1.8-1.9 volts, THAT is fast.

Overall Review: Newegg is wonderful, they are giving me a refund for it because it died. Had i sent in the mail in rebate with the UPC i would be out of luck, stuck with only a single working stick.

Manufacturer Response:
Hello, we are sorry for the problem. The OCZ lifetime warranty does not require the UPC from the packaging. Applying for your rebate does not affect your warranty. All you would have to do is apply for an RMA, send us the memory and it would be replaced. Newegg's policy is to not refund on a purchase that has the UPC missing, as this would be indicate that a rebate claim has been made and would constitute fraud. Thank you
