Pros: Mainly purchased this model based on the review that a user had no problems with VISTA recognizing it. Which is true, as long as Vista is ALREADY installed!
Cons: Only blues screens of death when trying to install Vista Ultimate x64 from an MSI P6N Diamond. No problems installing Vista using my existing PATA Samsung DVD burner AFTER pulling the SATA plug on the ASUS burner.
Overall Review: Too soon to say how good or bad it's long term performance is. Just don't count on it as your ONLY means of installing Vista. Since this is my first SATA burner, I can't say whether any of the other late model, Lightscribe SATA burners would have performed differently.
Did not work for me...
Pros: None.
Cons: 100% failure rate using two different drives (a Pioneer BDR-205 and an LG WH14NS40 - both with their most recent firmware updates) and two different systems (with two different mobos, both running Windows 7 x64). Both these drives and systems work fine with Verbatim 2x 25GB BD-REs, for example). Either the discs would fail a quick format, or a full format, or fail the "verify burned disc" operation or just hang without finalizing the BD-RE.
