Most Favorable Review

It does what it's supposed to.

Western Digital WD Green WD20EADS 2TB 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive
Western Digital WD Green WD20EADS 2TB 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: It does what it's supposed to, wasn't DOA, and I picked it up for a steal the week after Black Friday. I can't say much other than that because I use it as an external backup drive that's offline most of the time. This is my third WD Green Drive, no problems so far. It formatted and accepted full-drive encryption in a reasonable amount of time considering its size.

Cons: The product description says: "best for ultra-quiet PCs." Don't believe the ultra quiet business. Sure it doesn't sound like a jet turbine because it's only spinning at 5,400 rpm, but as soon as the disk has been idle for 8 seconds, the heads park, which makes a noisy clunk. I'm not a huge stickler for noise (the fans on my machine could likely power a small plane), but I notice it and it's annoying. The parked heads and slow spinning speed also mean that it takes a bit longer to access data after the disk has been idle. No biggie as most people probably use these to store lots and lots of "legal" music and movie files, rather than as a system disk.

Overall Review: The behavior can be altered with a tool available online to set a different idle time-out in the firmware, but that's a bit of a pain and reduces the power savings of this "Green" drive.

Most Critical Review

Auto Gain Control ruins an otherwise good product.

Sennheiser Silver RS 120 3.5mm/ 6.3mm Connector Supra-aural Wireless RF Hi-fi Headphone
Sennheiser Silver RS 120 3.5mm/ 6.3mm Connector Supra-aural Wireless RF Hi-fi Headphone

Pros: The wireless reception is decent and the earphones are pretty comfortable. Sound is great when it's not being automatically adjusted.

Cons: The Auto Gain Control (which was not advertised anywhere on Newegg or Sennheiser.com) ruins the headphones if you listen to any sort of dynamic music at all. It is completely unbearable, music is meant to be quieter in some parts than in others. I feel like I'm in Jr. High again and my mom is banging on the wall telling me to turn the music down, only now she's just adjusting the dial on her own. The hiss is bad when volume is low, which is another product of the auto gain control. With only three channels and a limited tuning spectrum, these are not ideal for an apartment complex where there is a bunch of interference from multiple sources.

Overall Review: I intend to seek a refund and look into a digital pair to avoid interference problems and will certainly make sure they do not have Auto Gain Control... what a worthless 'feature'.

Great Netbook

ASUS Eee PC Seashell 1005HA-VU1X-WT Pearl White Intel Atom N270(1.60 GHz) 10.1" WSVGA 1GB Memory 160GB HDD Netbook
ASUS Eee PC Seashell 1005HA-VU1X-WT Pearl White Intel Atom N270(1.60 GHz) 10.1" WSVGA 1GB Memory 160GB HDD Netbook

Pros: I bought this as a Christmas gift for my wife. It's a great, well-built machine. Used a spare 2GB of RAM I already had to upgrade and installed Windows 7 (with a few things like Aero turned off); it runs great. She loves it. The battery life is great, it runs 6-8 hours depending on what she's doing. The sound it puts out is pretty good too. Multi-touch features are cool too.

Cons: The fan can be a little noisy if you've got the netbook on the high-power setting and you're doing anything that's processor intensive at all. Also, graphics are OK, but it struggles to play back even non-HD movies encoded at reasonable frame rates.

Overall Review: Overall, I'm quite happy. Wait for a good deal though b/c the Atom 280 will be the bee's knees soon enough, making the 270 in this model old, and this can already be had for $300 shipped if you're patient.
