RAM, why so expensive??
Pros: - Both sticks worked right out of the box - it can be Over Clocked with XMP profile to the 2800Hz (AsRock AB350 PRO 4) - Worked with Ryzen 5 1600 - Good color, neutral, matches my build (it does not matter because my case side covers are not made of glass, no one will notice, but it is there, matching all the time)
Cons: - None so far regarding performance. - It is expensive at regular price, it cost the same as a Ryzen 5 processor!!
Overall Review: Tried to get 8Gb only, i think that i do not need more than that, unfortunately I was slow picking up the 8GB in two stick offers, got to "accept" these 16gb with a discount during B. Friday weekend. At the end of the day, it is better to have 16gb instead of 8gb, you might not need it right now but hey, it is better to have enough to spare than fall short.
No computer savvy here
Pros: - enough fan sockets - posted at first try - super easy to flash with internet connection - XMP profile OC my RAM to 2800hz - more than enough SATA connections and M.2 connections - Disc with drivers for the audio and the LAN set up - got it at 74.99 during B. Friday week - I like the simple/clean look
Cons: - At the time I tried to place the Ryzen 5 1600 processor, the small triangle to orientate/ align the processor corner properly is not present on the board, the manual tells you how the processor needs to be oriented. I have seen other boards with this indicator which helps people like me who is not very familiar with computers assembly processes. Not a deal breaker obviously, it is just a nice to have. - The RAM compatibility was not as clear as I would like, not even on the ASRock website, if you review the compatibility list you will see a few of of them, but then after further investigation you realize that those are only the ones they have tested and that "any" DDR4 RAM should work, ended up purchasing something that was not listed at the time and it worked.
Overall Review: ASRock AB350 PRO4 - Ryzen 5 1600 - G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 2800 (PC4 22400) F4-2800C16D-16GVG - PNY GE FORCE 1050Ti 4GB - 1TB WD Blue 7200RPM's - 750GB WD Black 2.5" - ASUS DVD/RW Drive - Rosewill Challenger case - EVGA 600w power supply (not the bronze one) - Deep Cool Wind Blade 120mm fan (extra to the ones that came with the case) - Window 10 Home Edition Sooooo.... I put together my gaming PC, the listed components worked so wonderful together that the whole system was ready to install Windows the first time it was powered. I do not have another MOBO's to compare with but this one is pretty good for a starter/low budget PC, I am coming from a Dell Laptop with integrated graphics and an Intel I5 Ivy Bridge, so this is a huge improvement.
Pros: - It worked right out of the box - Comes with the cooler, with pre-applied thermal paste, worked right out the box also - Got it on sale (3 weeks looking for the price to drop down worth the wait)
Cons: - No bragging-rights sticker to put on the case (shame, i'll need to draw one with my kid's crayons) - Cooler, difficult to install for a non-computer builder like me, after few attempts i made it, I realized that my mistake was to support the motherboard on the foam/cushion that comes with on top the box .... this created a "bouncing effect" that made harder to align and screw inside the counter plate the screws. - My wife is jealous and I am going to get fatter because of the green soda and the nacho cheese flavor triangles
Overall Review: Coming form an i5 Ivy Bridge, on a laptop, this processor is incredible. Put it together with a GTX-1050Ti, on an AsRock AB350 Pro4, with 16gb G.Skill Ripjaws at 2800hz, 1 TB WD Blue at 7200 rpms. Assemble all together, posted at first try, installed windows 10 Home Edition. The only only thing that I had troubles with, I tried was to run Cinebench, but it have crashed all the times I tried to run it, makes me wonder if I need to disable options or cancel processes while the test is running. Will keep an eye on the performance and will update the review if needed. Cheers.
