Awesome laptop!

ASUS G74 Series 17.3" Intel Core i7-2670QM 12GB Memory DDR3 Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit
ASUS G74 Series 17.3" Intel Core i7-2670QM 12GB Memory DDR3 Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit

Pros: Super fast, large storgage (1.5 TB), a ton of RAM, beautiful LED widescreen. Minimal bloatware, easy setup.

Cons: No restoration disc, lacks BD writer (one can easily be installed though).

Overall Review: This laptop is my first from ASUS. I bought it because my HP was almost 3 years old and has Vista on it, which I was never really happy with. I also was not happy with the LCD screen it had. If it is not directly positioned in front of you there is a severe dropoff of brightness, that used to drive me nuts. Not an issue with this ASUS. The setup was the best i have seen so far on a laptop. It runs everything I throw at it and fast for that matter, 0 crashes so far and 0 bad pixels. I just installed an LG bluray writer (to replace the bluray reader already installed) and windows found it no problem. Asus has this laptop laid out nicely so upgrading stuff isn't an issue. Anyways, the screen is beautiful, it has minimal bloatware and overall this thing rivals my main desktop (also a win 7 pc with an I7 chip). as far as performance.

Best monitor yet from Viewsonic!

ViewSonic X Series VX2739WM 27" 1ms HDMI Full HD 1080p Widescreen LCD Monitor w/ 4 port USB-hub300 cd/m2 DC 100,000:1(1200:1) Built-in Speakers
ViewSonic X Series VX2739WM 27" 1ms HDMI Full HD 1080p Widescreen LCD Monitor w/ 4 port USB-hub300 cd/m2 DC 100,000:1(1200:1) Built-in Speakers

Pros: High quality, crisp, images. Movies will blow you away especially HD content viewed via HDMI. Even standard def content is brilliant.

Cons: no remote control. buttons for adjustments take getting used to and are cumbersome.

Overall Review: After a few adjustments with the factory default settings like brightness and contrast this monitor blows everything away I have had yet. this is my 4th viewsonic and everyone has been a winner. no brightness issues I can detect, No dead pixels and viewsonic really built a winner this time. I am using the lowest refresh rate and still no ghosting at all. This is a 1 ms monitor and it shows!

best value on the market

Gateway Desktop PC FX Series FX6803-25 Intel Core i7-930 9GB DDR3 1.5TB HDD ATI Radeon HD 5850 Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

Pros: lightning fast processor, 750 w power supply, 9 Gigs of RAM, Awesome HD video card, minimal bloatware, many ports, hot swappable drive bays to name a few

Cons: none I can think of

Overall Review: I have been searching for about 6 months for a PC with the perfect spec sheet. I am not a big gamer so dual vid cards etc.. weren't big requirements for me but I did want something that was well built, had decent power, didn't come loaded with junk and had the latest technology built in. This Gateway was it. It has a super fast and powerful I7 chip, 750 W power supply, plenty of RAM (9 GIGS) and a high quality ATI 5850 1 GB HDMI ready video card. Plenty of USB ports and even comes with hot swappable drive bays on the front side and a firewire port. Not to mention a card reader and this machine is the machine I had been specking out for months and was always over 2 grand when I was finished. Installed my apps/external hardware no problem. hooking it up to my Viewsonic 27 inch via HDMI and I was blown away by the quality. Of course it did take some tweaking of the settings to get the screen right. The machine is also whisper quiet, you cannot even hear that it's on. This is the PC w

Awesome widescreen monitor-HD video and SD video looks great!!

ViewSonic X Series VX2433wm Black 23.6" 2ms(GTG); 5ms HDMI Full 1080P Widescreen LCD Monitor 300 cd/m2 DC 20000:1(1000:1) Built in Speakers
ViewSonic X Series VX2433wm Black 23.6" 2ms(GTG); 5ms HDMI Full 1080P Widescreen LCD Monitor 300 cd/m2 DC 20000:1(1000:1) Built in Speakers

Pros: My 3rd or 4th Viewsonic monitor in the last 4 years. I have never been disappointed in this companies monitor's. I use them in conjunction with my PC and the always have given me great bright, vivid real-estate. Video on these monitor's is superb especially this one. I have had 19, 20 and 22 vx models and the 22 inch was the best monitor I have ever owned. I wanted to go a tad bigger cause plus I noticed a bit of lag and or pixilation (not sure but it was only in fast moving scenes) on the 22 inch. This model has none of that whatsoever. One of my only gripe's is they really need to include a remote for adjusting the settings as the menu's and buttons on these monitors are horrible to adjust in my opinion. Finally there are some bright spots (no dead pixels) on various parts of the screen only noticeable in certain bright areas and dark areas but the quality of this monitor outweighs this flaw and I can live with it for now. It is possible it is just on my model and not every one made

Cons: No remote for a monitor this size they should incorporate one like Samsung and others do. How much could this really add to the cost? The menus and buttons to adjust settings are horrific. Luckily I don't have to adjust them much. Brightness uniformity is not consistent throughout the screen. Not noticeable in every screen or situation only really bright or dark ones for me but still worth getting this monitor.

Overall Review: No dead pixel's in any of the Viewsonic's I ever purchased makes me want to stick with this company. I am waiting for the 27 inch to be released and might get that, hopefully the will include a remote.

pretty stable DL DVD's

Verbatim DVD+R DL 8.5GB 8X with Branded Surface - 20pk Spindle
Verbatim DVD+R DL 8.5GB 8X with Branded Surface - 20pk Spindle

Pros: I think after a couple hundred of these I have probably had less than 5 coasters, using a pioneer burner and Nero express. Overall, happy but I have heard only the Singapore made bindles give you these results and the made in Indi@ type are terrible. I have been lucky after purchasing about a dozen or so of these 20 packs, all of them were the made in Singapore type.

Cons: none

Fast-stable laptop!!

HP Pavilion 17.3" Intel Core 2 Quad Q9000 4GB Memory Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit NM094UA#ABA
HP Pavilion 17.3" Intel Core 2 Quad Q9000 4GB Memory Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit NM094UA#ABA

Pros: Quad core processor- ATI 4650 video card- 1033 bus-drive bays accomidate 2 SATA drives- 4 gigs memory-crisp brilliant HD screen

Cons: 5400 rpm drives (but still fast and does not hinder speed at all)

Overall Review: I upgraded this laptop from a 1 1/2 year old Toshiba 1.82 GHZ duo core running vista home premium and 4 GB's of Ram. I was totally unhappy with that laptop and the speed, picture etc... The images it produced despite having an NVIDIA 8600GT 512 card were unacceptable and it was sooo slow. This HP is what the doctor ordered. Fast speeds, multi tasking is a breeze, the video is smooth, stable and brilliant it's just a pleasure to use. I upgraded both HDD's to dual 500 GB 7200 drives and the thing really flies now. May upgrade the ram to 6 GB but for now it seems the 4 GB is enough. Most of my programs have been running ok and loaded without a hitch so I am pretty satisfied with vista. I tried to uninstall some of the bloatware and it runs a little faster. Overall I paid less for this unit than I did for my older Toshiba 1.83 core duo and there is no comparison. This machine is faster than my tower running a 2.4 duo core with a 1 GB 9600 NVIDIA card.
