Pretty decent laptop
Pros: Small size is perfect for the wife. It will be nice for both of us when we fly. I've got a 17" toshiba that is just too big to use on the plane and keep a drink on my tray table. Not too much added software and most of it was internet shortcuts. One toshiba added program though acts as a radar to find wireless points. Now I finally know where some of these connections I keep picking up are from. Battery charged up quick. The touchpad mouse is very nice, one of the best I've ever used. It isn't recessed into the computer and has a nice texture to it. Doesn't get as hot as my other toshiba...a real plus!
Cons: Initial startup was delayed by updating, finding the program to backup the OS wasn't easy to find. Headphone jacks right on the middle front. I don't like them in that spot.
Overall Review: The glossy finish will leave fingerprints like crazy but not a negative thing. At least they figured out to cover the outer portion of the keyboard in gloss too. Mine is all scratched up and shows dirt badly. This is my second toshiba, and I will by another one soon.
Died at warranty's end
Pros: Charged decently when it worked. Charged units seemed to last long periods of time between needing charges. I was able to swap a dead unit with a charged one and keep playing.
Cons: Died! At exactly one year and one day it quit charging. It must be an Xbox thing because it has 3 flashing red lights. It will not charge. Apparently it's a known issue as was told to me by customer support and they're getting heavy call and email volume. Sadly a call to CS was met with telling me to email support. Ironically, a tab for just that is missing on their website. I hope they'll replace or fix this. Otherwise, I'll buy a different unit.
Overall Review: I'll edit this if they do something about it. Don't hold your breath.
Great MB. Lots of fan connections. Lots of USB.
Pros: Fan for M.2 is pretty cool. The heatsinks for M.2's are very nice. Lots of fan connections (pro and con) Very nice and user friendly BIOS Simple and clean layout. USB 2.0 for wireless dongles. I hated wasting good ports on those in the past. LOTS of USB connections. WiFi 6 and an antenna I can locate conveniently.
Cons: Support: I was switching out my components to a new case and decided to clean up the CPU while I was at it since I had to take off the radiator. Unfortunately, after I got the CPU out, I dropped something on the board. It just happened to hit the CPU socket and bent some pins. Those pins are just too tight to get a needle between to fix. I contacted Asrock. They set me up with an out of warranty RMA. I submitted it and never heard back. So, I reached out. They claim that they tried to reach me the day I filed. Either way, the repair is $400. Might as well buy a new one. Pretty lame. The connections for the CPU/Water Pump are a little confusing. Especially since some of the chassis fan connections can be used as a water pump connection. It made more sense once I was in the BIOS and saw that it's possible to designate what is connected to each. Sata ports bump up against my radiator and thus makes a tight fit.
Overall Review: This review is for ASRock review rebate program. Would recommend. If I could, I'd only take 1/2 an egg for the fan connector issue.
Fan is super noisy
Pros: Setting up the card was pretty easy. I didn't get a CD for some reason, but I was able to download the drivers just fine. Turning on AMD Freesync was simple enough, once I figured out how to enable it on my monitor. Fit just fine in my PC.
Cons: It didn't come with a CD. Not a huge con, but a con nonetheless. One of the fans is rubbing and just sounds terrible. I can't even play a game because the noise is intolerable. For that reason, I can't really rate the cards other possible Pros.
Overall Review: I usually like Sapphire cards. I moved my old one to my wife's PC when I bought this one. Hopefully the replacement process goes well and I won't be without for too long.
Horrible customer service
Pros: Slim, light, and decent capacity. I even put Office 13 on it and Visual Studio (which it could handle). The ability to add a MicroSD is useful. Able to connect to bluetooth.
Cons: The bluetooth drops frequently. I'll be using it and suddenly the mouse will quit. I have to restart to get it to work. The speaker is in a terrible place and sounds very monotone.
Overall Review: I accidentally dropped this onto the concrete one day and unfortunately it cracked the screen despite it being in a folding case. I first tried to fix it myself but Asus has too many different screens for this model and you have to have the correct one. I called for an RMA and got one approved. It's been 3 weeks since they've had it and the status continues to reflect "awaiting customer response". I've called at least once a week and each time I get told, "you will recieve and email in 24-48 hours'. Never happens. I check all my folders daily for "asus". I have chatted, called, and emailed and still keep getting the same formula response. Their service is deplorable and I WILL NEVER BUY AN ASUS PRODUCT AGAIN!
Pros: Buy one Get free shipping.
Cons: Buy more than one, not so free shipping. Not even close!
Great customer service and very responsive
I had a question about the laptop and if I could do some upgrades to it as I've seen other models with different specs (an m.2 and sata for instance). They were quick tor respond. Item shipped and delivered quicker than the Newegg estimate!
