Best Notebook Upgrade EVER!
Pros: I have an Executive-Level Outlook user in the company that has an extremely large email file (19+ Gig). Yes, I know, Microsoft will only support up to 2 Gig. Anyway, it was taking a 320 Gig 7200 RPM HDD about 5 minutes to open his email. I put the 128 Gig Falcon in & it only takes an average of 22 seconds to open his email. An unexpected benefit was that the network updates are about twice as fast. REAL WORLD HD TUNE AVERAGE READ RATES -- (Note this is with Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit with OS & 12 apps concurrently running; one of which updates 12 logs every second): 1Meg Block READ Average - 232.7 MB/s 512k Block READ Average - 229.6 MB/s 256k Block READ Average - 221.4 MB/s 128k Block READ Average - 207.6 MB/s 64k Block READ Average - 180.4 MB/s 32k Block READ Average - 142.0 MB/s 16k Block READ Average - 97.2 MB/s 8k Block READ Average - 62.9 MB/s 4k Block READ Average - 36.5 MB/s
Cons: It took me a long time to get cleared to use the Forum where G.Skill posts their updates & software downloads.
Overall Review: I have a 128 Gig Crucial CT128M225 which posts even better performance numbers here on Newegg but, the Crucial actually runs a little bit slower than this Falcon.
Pros: The reviews had me hoping that this drive would be fast but, I simply was not ready for how truly fast this drive is! Windows 7 RC 64 Bit loads on my laptop in 21 seconds with full MS Office 2007, ESET Smart antivirus & seven different sidebar gadgets all coming to life & useable within those 21 seconds. My office programs flash to life instantly. I work with very large PDF files (200+ Meg) & they too load up in less than one quarter the time my Seagate Momentum 7200.4 - 500 Gig opened them. I have not shown this to anyone that has not expressed, just as I did, true awe. Every single person has said at least; Oh My Gosh! or Wow! It truly is amazing!
Cons: The G.Skill forum is indeed slow in accepting your membership & you cannot download any updates until you are accepted. I almost gave this product 4 stars becuase of the forum's lack of attention.
Overall Review: I ordered a 128 Gig today which the numbers says has a little higher read rate. Can't wait to try it out.
Great Memory, Great Price
Pros: Plugged into motherboard that was running i7 920 OC'd to 3.1 GHz. Started the system & it booted right up. This G.Skill matched up perfectly with 4 Gig of Patriot DDR3 1333 already in system & the motherboard automatically turned on triple channel memory access. Runs nice & cool... Temps taken via infrared thermometer have never shown above 30C on these sticks.
Cons: Absolutely none
Overall Review: This G.Skill was considerably less expensive than the Patriot I had installed earlier. I knew I was taking a chance on getting a 3 channel match but, it has all worked beautifully providing a low cost & very stable OC'd machine.
Pros: First & foremost is the price; I can't believe this thing is selling for under $700, forget for under $500. Very pleased with absolutely everything about this monitor. It is brighter than I thought it would be. No dead pixels here, not even one. I am a programmer & I am already completely spoiled with how much code I can fit on this screen. I would have to say that I am already coding about 10% faster simply because I am not needing to scroll through my code nearly as much as I used to.
Cons: I can honestly state; I have not found one thing I can complain about yet.
Overall Review: I have had a Samsung 205BW 20" (1680 X 1050) for about 4 months & it too is flawless. I use them side by side & it makes all the difference in the world when you are multi-tasking to be able to look at several different things on your screens without having to restore minimized screens to find what you are looking for.
