Still good after many years
Pros: I've had a tube of this for more than five years. Still works fine. You can "goop" a LOT of CPU's if you follow the online instructions. It hardly takes any!
Cons: Doesn't force me to use a TINY bit. Sticky :)
Overall Review: Most people, including me (an experienced CPU-mounter) use wayyyy too much. It is incredible how little is actually needed. 1) Just enough to fill in the microscopic surface holes 2) After #1, just one dot or thin line down the middle is needed -- follow online instructions for your CPU PLEASE follow the online instructions for success, including the "settle in"/burn-in instructions. Just like a car, etc....
Great until failure :(
Pros: Brilliant screen, Good controls, Quick channel changing, love the three HDMI inputs
Cons: After two years, suddenly the screen only shows "JVC" and is locked up. Online searches tell me the mainboard has died and that this is a VERY common problem. Looks like mainboard repair best price is $65 today... if it's available at all. If you buy anything like this, I recommend extended warranty.
Great multi-input monitor/TV. Solved HDMI from PC issue.
Pros: Love the multiple inputs (DVI, HDMI, PC, Component, plus tuner) Lots of adjustments
Cons: Can't get it to go into power saving mode from an HDMI source.
Overall Review: To get full resolution in HDMI mode, cycle through the P.SIZE adjustments. One of them provides full/direct resolution pass through for HD.
Looks solid, but first sample is defective :(
Pros: Solid metal case, large fan (I'm sure the mfg can replace if it goes bad...), fan is switchable, power is switchable (hooray!). USB interface is visible to the SMARTctl app.
Cons: The eSATA interface was completely dead on my first unit. (Simple test: try a cable and drive that work correctly on another box. On this box: neither the drive NOR the SATA interface show up.) Sadly, I get to pay return shipping (1/3 the cost of the unit) on a defective unit.
Rock solid, no hassles
Pros: Great all-in-one board, with everything we needed built in. Especially appreciate the built-in SATA/eSATA with IDE emulation. IDE emulation lets me upgrade an XP machine without any hassles. Full AHCI support allows future hot-plug eSATA connections for Seagate FreeAgent Pro external drives!
Cons: The ethernet driver may be a bit weak? Not sure yet. The ATI driver did something strange to desktop wallpaper -- had to reset the wallpaper settings
Overall Review: Couldn't afford to buy a prebuilt/warrantied system, so decided to find the best, well-supported, no-hassle motherboard I could, for a high performance system upgrade. This board is PERFECT for the job! (For now, we power down to connect eSATA drives -- that's the only reliable method when AHCI is not enabled.)
