Pros: USB to my external hard drive actually works! Files show the full name not the munged 8.3 name. Able to play files that my philips could not... no more "video gmc not supported" errors. Nice remote with good on-screen functions and information. Very good video and sound quality. True optical connector for audio. Great Price!
Cons: USB often required replugging when unit is powered off and on... does not always identify the USB connected hard drive. Replugging the USB connector fixes the issue. Strong magnetic charge near the USB port. Video mode switching could be better.
Overall Review: Has been performing better than my two philips models. I am using the Coby in place of a DVP5982 as the Coby works better with my hard drive and certain AVI files. Not quite a 5-star... better than a 4-star... call it 4½-Stars!
Pros: Very affordable card with terrific sound for music. I am not a gamer so I can't address the game sound issues.
Cons: Included drivers are unusual.
Overall Review: I am using this with Windows MCE and running the audio output into my stereo system and TV. The stereo sound is terrific... the TV sound is remarkable giving amazing spatial separation. I am very pleased.
Pros: Very cool... but not for everyone... in fact, not for most folks. As an earlier review stated... be SURE to visit the MS site and read about this OS before making a purchase
Its primary design is that of a Media Center for the home and it does that very nicely. It allows you to replace and consolidate many of your home entertainment devices and functions. Plus, it allows you to have terrific control over your music, video, images and give you Tivo-esque control over TV.
Cons: Several hardware specific issues unless you have the right equipment. Be sure to check your hardware compatibility before you order. I would not recommend it for use on a game box.
Overall Review: There is a reason it is OEM software and does not come in a retail package. This OS was designed for system builders and it has very specific hardware requirements. We built a test system using spare parts. We went through 5 video & 3 sound cards & 2 DVD/R devices before we found the right combination. Be SURE to do your homework if you are building your own box or it could become very frustrating.
As a Media Center for the home it is terrific. Once setup its easy to control your Media such as Music, Video, Images, & TV. We replaced a DVD player, CD jukebox and cable tuner. We used the CD ripper to put several hundred CDs on the hard drive. If you are only looking for a music machine just use Windows Media Player and pass on this OS.
I look forward to a time when everything is in a single box and becomes a true Entertainment Center controller. But, until that time I have to give this OS high marks as it does a GREAT job as a Media Center, just like the name says.
Pros: Great multi-interface for computers needing one. Everything works as advertised
Cons: The audio plug-ins require plugging the unit into the rear sound ports... thus, losing the rear sound ports.
The card readers require adaptors for certain cards which do not come with the unit.
Overall Review: To make this a perfect unit it should have a motherboard header for the audio interface. And, it should come with all adaptors required for different cards.
Not perfect... but, I would buy it again.
Pros: Great product... comes with its own recharging base unit and rechargable batteries. Nice weight and moves easily. Several programable buttons and nice button action. Very pleased... we got seven of them.
Cons: Took a few days to get used to it... we were using wired mouse with balls.
Overall Review: No more cleaning... yeah!
Pros: Its cheap and it works.
Cons: Ugly colors.
Overall Review: We got two... it was a much better deal to buy this with the batteries included than just batteries alone.
Pros: We have 4... ordered 3 more... works great at a good price. We are pleased with this purchase and would (will) buy again.
Cons: Nothing bad to say... I would give it 10 stars if it were free :)
Pros: Really affordable... installed easily on XP with SP2 (no installation from disk required)... works as advertised.
Cons: For the price... no cons. (the ability to mount it would be nice... though not mounting it makes it great for mobility)
Overall Review: I would buy this again.
Pros: Nice Case... Have 3 and would buy again. Power Supply seems OK though need to test further to be sure. Great for the price.
Cons: Lower HD rack has dimples which touch the HD... REMOVE THEM! Nothing should touch the HD except on the sides.
Overall Review: Be sure to purchase 1 or 2 80mm case fans, especially is you are using SATA II in the lower HD rack.
Comments: Got one of these and two of the 19" models (F-419). I am absolutely thrilled with both models. No dead pixels on any of the monitors. Great relief to my eye strain from the old CRTs. Easy setup and the anti-glare works great. VERY bright display and having some ambient light is a real plus to make it easier on the eyes. Changed my windows screen font smoothing to ClearType gave better results.
An excellent buy and really nice monitor. I am so pleased we will be replacing all the monitors in our office with this model.
