A Solid External SSD
Pros: Don't confuse this thing with a USB Flash Drive. It is a real SSD with wear levelling and the performance of a true SSD. I boot and run Ubuntu 15 on a variety of different machines. It is excellent to be able to carry your entire working environment in your pocket. It seems to be about as fast as an internal SATA 3 SSD.
Cons: It could be even smaller. It blocks adjacent USB ports on some machines. It is a little expensive per Gigabyte for an SSD.
Overall Review: This drive works as advertised. Good portable boot drive. Congratulations Corsair on a fine product.
Low cost nVME drive for embedded system
Cons: Did not come with screw or standoff.
Overall Review: The 256GB SSD is obsolete for desktop computing these days but many embedded application can use them. I have mine attached to Xilinx ZynqMPSOC development board. The board provides only one PCIe lane to the M.2 slot but I still get 350 MB/s speed. I know that M.2 drives never come with an extra screw or standoff but it would really delight customers if they did.
Just what I needed
Pros: Lowest profile available
Cons: Not the lowest priced fan
Overall Review: This fan is very low profile. I needed it for my new fileserver because the four bay drive cage sits very close to the motherboard. The standard fan that came with my i3 would not fit. Intel sells a low profile fan that would fit but this one is a couple of mm shorter and a lot prettier. I think the solid metal construction might dissipate heat better too.
A Reliable Fileserver
Pros: Available during pandemic shortage
Cons: Only four sata ports
Overall Review: My old fileserver died one day in the middle of the pandemic shortages. It was built on a very low cost mini-itx board with soldered-down and fanless Intel Atom processor but those are a thing of the past. Using this board and an Intel Core I3 I got a substantial increase in performance. I'm running Ubuntu desktop and it is nice to use the m.2 slot for the OS. That leaves all the sata ports for the raid array. The server has been running about a year now, no problems.
