INTEL 990X pros and cons

Intel Core i7-990X Extreme Edition - Core i7 Extreme Edition Gulftown 6-Core 3.46 GHz LGA 1366 130W Desktop Processor - BX80613I7990X
Intel Core i7-990X Extreme Edition - Core i7 Extreme Edition Gulftown 6-Core 3.46 GHz LGA 1366 130W Desktop Processor - BX80613I7990X

Pros: Well this is apperant to anyone that has one; but if you're one fence about the price. IT IS worth every red cent. Benchmarks bring out that this beats out sandybridge as well as any AMD CPU. 980x;990x; they are the same price whats the question? see other thoughts; BUY IT!! I AM GETTING a THIRD; yes there is that much difference

Cons: As others here have stated "something" is in fact causing a wall if you will when it comes to getting high speed ram to run at spec speeds. like Corsairs D.GT 2000 there are ways to let your RAM run at spec, but I don't know if this is a real con... the XMP sets some parameters that just must be changed then your ram will run at it's rated speed. Considering nothing else is wrong. Be careful with your voltage you do not need to bump it to run at spec

Overall Review: 980x doesn't seem to have the RAM issue in such a broad range. There is something different about the 990x I do not assume to understand the die procedure but there is something different; XMP must be fiddled with in BIOS or instead set your RAM manually. this worked for me. I did however have to go step by step; and I can only speak for ASUS and EVGA boards. vary comfortable 4.5GHz @ 2000MHz 12G Corsair D. GT. IF YOU FILL YOUR DRAM SLOTS TO 24G this just slows it down the memory controller has more to map so more take more

Works with EXCEPTIONS

CORSAIR Hydro H70 CWCH70 120mm High Performance CPU Cooler
CORSAIR Hydro H70 CWCH70 120mm High Performance CPU Cooler

Pros: It does what you expect of it except; (see other thoughts) I ended up useing it on a hobby rig as it would NOT fit on the MotherBoard I bought it for. Again see other thoughts. I was suprisd that the temps it gave me were as low as they were, I have not tested the 9650 past 3.8 but @ 3.8 I'm still ideling around <30;

Cons: As people have said the conections for the fans are short; i lucked out; but many won't; So this ened up being more of a toy than a product.(the back plate is very cheaply made, and does not sit straight on 1155. I see the 775, 1156, 1366 holes for the pins. on a 775 board it sits staright, also on one of my 1366: I do not feel comfortable installing a unstable plastic back plate that is made of rubery material on a expensive board. I wish their were a plack plate adapter that would work with this I would get another, It is NOT a LCS replacment but it IS BETTER than even touch pipe air; so with a good solid back plate that sits straight. it would be a wonderful product

Overall Review: THIS IS DIRECTED AT CORSAIR: I have read reviews that claim 1156 H/S/F will sit correctly in the 1155 socket template. I have found this is NOT true for some BACKPLATES that come with several coolers and this was the worst. ASUS Maximus IV Extreame I checked 2 seperate boards, the back plate sits @ offset angle, it is not square with the socket. This board has a large H/S on the back as well as a small IC. The H70 back plate is a cheap flimsy rubbery peice of soft plastic, it bends & smashes up agains the H/S & IC on the M-IV and sits wrong; IT SHOULD NOT BE SOLD AS COMPATABLE WITH 1155. I know people are useing them. I find it hard to swallow that (2) M-IV both will not accept this plate. IF 1155 holes are all the same then this will not sit right , and should not be used on 1155; I have found several other coolers with this problem; some are not noticable until you place the fans on and see that the H/S/F and the ram are off set by several dergrees. Not a square fit

wont work with asus rampage 5 E.

HyperX 32GB (4 x 8GB) DDR4 3000 (PC4 24000) HyperX Model HX430C15PBK4/32
HyperX 32GB (4 x 8GB) DDR4 3000 (PC4 24000) HyperX Model HX430C15PBK4/32

Pros: Ive ussually had good luck with this brand. But it seems now that it is uncompatable with this board. So I can't really say how good it is. Asus Rampage V Extreme/USB-3.1 Intel 5960x with EVGA Titan X SC

Cons: If anyone out there is having or has had an in-compatability issue with this ram and the Asus Rampage V Extreme/USB-3.1; I would appreciate it if you could post somethng here

Overall Review: I have used ram not on the QVL before and had no trouble. actually decided to go with this ram because of its good reviews, and the poor reviews that the corsair ram is getting.

Pros: This is not so much a review as a hint/guide This is the exact same machine as the 625. just doesn't have a useless 128gb ssd and has 4 G of memory less. If you had NOT of mentioned that you replaced the RAM & ssd YOU MIGHT HAVE GOT SOME HELP THAT ACTION alone voids your warrentee. I have the asus 743d- 73 it's a great note book as far as note books go but this MSI is a lttle better. True burner BD/ 580 vs 560 and te audio plugs Down side is the area near the power button. if you repair laptops u know what I mean The driver problem u speak of if Gforce.com can't auto recognize as laptop mobility 580 gtx is fix able by doing a factory reinstall provided you took the precaustion of keeping that partition. then Gforce .cm can mostlikely fix your prolem I am buying thids in 10 days however am debating if i am going to get it from ewegg or Pnoteboooks because they can swap out the cpu for much less$ than buying the cpu and DIY wish u luck Thinker

Cons: have to evaluate

Overall Review: have to evaluate will updat in two wekks or so

Pros: see other :)

Cons: se other :(

Overall Review: i speak to asus almost daily. no one can get me to the right model. he make being this 74sx but u can order it with a plathora of different options. this on is close but not exact/ look at asus websight you will see all the different combinations that can be put to gether. Like a car there are options and newegg nor asus is clear on how to gwt thw lap top you want. I will be geting this soon. The piggy backed 160 SSD on a 750GB drive is a selling point. if u know how to mount your dives I can't wait for this pup

what has happened to ASUS?

ASUS Rampage III Black Edition LGA 1366 Intel X58 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Extended ATX Intel Motherboard
ASUS Rampage III Black Edition LGA 1366 Intel X58 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Extended ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: I thought the pros were the onboard BT/WiFi, the 19 pin USB 3.0 ect... ect... newegg should find a way to give resellers a negitive egg or black eggs. this board had such a high expectation. I feel I was really stole from. Black edition right like a plauge

Cons: DOA; Bought from new egg in 9/9/11 set on my store rack for a month or so then NO POST to spit my $550.00 loss I am going to get a EVGA 770 not as good as a Rampage but I can depend on them. and they don't ask for your first bornto do a cross ship

Overall Review: ASUS support has gone away. I was refused a level 2 teck I was refused a supervisor. indirectly exact quote " well if you want to stay on hold for at least 45 minutes the may or may not pick up" I actually opted to wait once; 20 minutes and the phone just went dead. ASUS your staff is makeing fools of you. Thick heavy un-identfiied acsents very poor english and grammer and no comunication. If I ask a staff to speak to their super... they better say yes sir and put me thru. ANY way I am thru with you unless you appologixe directly and substantialy. Iv'e bout over 8 boards from you all the way back to the 775 days, lived thru the 68 set thing now you ARE making a gimik out of a dead socket fine. but if u treat customers like this you will soon be out of the private market. EVGA takes care of ther own.
