Not Instant Switching
Pros: 45 inch cables (max reach) good for 3.5 foot each. Small size and simple to connect and use. Remote switch is a nice plus. USB device works well with XP x64, Win 7 and Win 8.
Cons: Slow to respond on Windows 7 while USB is detected yet reacts nearly instantly on XP x64. This could be hardware or driver related yet no other issues exist other that having to wait 2-5 seconds for keyboard when switching to Windows 7 system, the mouse and video are usually less than 3 seconds.
Overall Review: As with any USB device, it is released and again detected by the hardware/software when switched. My old KVM was PS2/VGA and was exempt from this loss/detection issue.
DOA ??
Pros: Was able to easily contact MFG for tehnical support.
Cons: This link may answer many DOA issues - this motherboard will NOT support most CPUs older than Athlon 2100. (ie. XP 1400+) http://www.foxconnchannel.com/upload/Compatibility/200606271024427474K7S741GXMG.htm (VERY POOR MANUAL)
Overall Review: Suggest adding the CPU support list for this board as it is VERY misleading. Great reviews from those that work (right CPU?)
Worked perfectly
Pros: Worked perfectly to clone and replace 512GB (nearly full) with 1TB drive using Type C port and was much faster than expected, less than 2 hours with free software suggested by the replacement drive mfg.
Cons: None.
Overall Review: Excellent product. Highly recommend. Even for one time use, price was acceptable.
You never know
Pros: Great specs: From 16 GB RAM support (if using 64-bit OS) to RAID 0/1/0+1/5. Optical & Coaxial S/PDIF Out. Still supports LPT, Serial, PS2, and Floppy (even if in a bad location). 6x USB 2.0 & 2 x 1394a. And at a great price too.
Cons: Board 1: Spent 5-hours with Microsoft attempting to discover why windows XP sp2 could not update. Then discovered no secure sites worked. Used wireless USB Adapter & everything worked. 1-hour with Giga-Byte to determine bad controller on MB. Would only connect at 1000MB if forced to 10/100 could not obtain IP & manual configuration said connected but could not even ping the router. With a gigabit switch, connection speeds could be seen and helped isolate the problem, it would have been real tough without it. Board 2: Out of the box everything works. If I had no temp gauge on the North Bridge chip I would never notice the temp of 150F - DO NOT TOUCH (Board 1 was a steady 80F.)
Overall Review: System Specs: AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ Windsor 3.0GHz, 4 x 1GB PC2 6400 RAM, GeForce 8600GT 256MB 128-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Video, 250GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s HDD, 20X DVD±R SATA DVD Burner, 750W P/S, Windows XP sp2. I know I must be one of few, I actually had Microsoft call back the next day after getting cut off 5-hours into troubleshooting. I also had good communication with Giga-Byte (spoke english well). I had to RMA Board 1, I'm caling Giga-Byte about high temp on Board 2; will see what they say. System is FAST !!
Lasted 1 week
Pros: Small size, activity light, easy to install.
Cons: Intermittent connectivity when it did work, 25 feet from router down hall with open doorways.
Overall Review: After 7 days - no light, no connectivity, unable to contact MFG. Should have purchased this from Newegg rather than local store...
Impatient
Had to wait 3 more days after receipt for other items to arrive. Very fast shipping and product worked perfectly. Highly recommend.
