It is what it is
Pros: High quality board for low-power system. MSI has included a more robust toolset than expected along with the drivers for the board on it's utility disk. 60 day internet security trial was unexpected. I won't use it, but the fact it's there is cool.
Cons: No USB 3.0 front panel connector.
Overall Review: Given how little you pay for this board, it is fairly robust in it's construction. MSI has included more than I expected in terms of extras on their driver disc. Worked on first try. Excellent board for builds designed for elementary-age kids. Would buy this board again.
Not terrible, but also not great.
Pros: Small, compact size. Power supply included. Main chassis frame seems sturdy, edges are smoothed out.
Cons: The panels (top, sides, bottom) don't fit together terribly well - the seams between panels and then between the panels and the front face are not flush or even. The fan on the power supply can get loud enough to sound like an airplane taking off - particularly if loading from CD/DVD drive. Front panel wiring does not play nice with disc drive installation - was concerned some of the cables would break. No dust filters.
Overall Review: For $50, this case is good for a computer built for small/elementary age children - which is what I used it for. The power supply is adequate for it's needs, but you do get what you pay for. While everything works and fits together with no issues, the trade-off on the price is that you don't get that sleek, seam-matching, quiet(er), case with dust filters. You get a power supply that's rated, according to it's stickers at 80+ bronze, but that tends to be noisy. But you also get a small, compact, relatively sturdy case that won't take up too much space on a desk. The actual black finish seems to be decent, and the thumb screws in the back holding each panel on the chassis are an unexpected surprise. I had to remove the power supply from the chassis to install the majority of the parts in the computer. A 3.5" hard disk can be mounted underneath the disk drive using the supplied brackets, but this has resulted in the drive more or less resting on the top of the power supply. A better option would be to mount the drive on the included bracket at the top rear of the case if you don't plan on adding an additional fan or liquid cooler there.
Outstanding Quality
Pros: Cherry switches. Wrist rest is comfortable. Lighting is decent. Media controls are easy to reach. Keyboard has some heft to it. Overall function and build quality are some of the best I've ever seen.
Cons: There is not the community driven RGB profile support like you get with Corsair's products - you have to create your own profiles within the limitations of G.SKILL's software, which takes a bit of getting used to. Still, though...this is more me being picky than a true negative.
Overall Review: Definitely recommended. Cherry MX switches. My only regret is that I went with red switches, but now that I have the keyboard and have been using it for a while, I think browns would have been better for my intended use. That's not G.Skill's fault.
Updated review - Not worth it.
Pros: Good balance of price and durability, unusual in a membrane board. Orange backlight looks good on the black board. Audio controls work flawlessly. **UPDATE** Keyboard not as durable as I thought. See below.
Cons: Not a fan of the split spacebar, but it is not a hindrance. **UPDATE** I am typing the edit to this keyboard about seven months after purchasing this keyboard. The rubber domes of this keyboard are failing on the left third of the keyboard. The E, S, A, D, X, C, and F keys either do not register or require several presses for the key to register. Since I use this keyboard mainly for heavy duty typing due to my job, this is unacceptable after such a short period. I am typing this on a cheap $10 keyboard right now. The M1 key has a short circuit or something - when using the M1 profile, typing will sporadically and randomly act as if ALL the keys on the keyboard are being pressed, rendering typing or any other sort of action unusable. I have not spilled ANYTHING on this keyboard, as I do not keep food or drink on my desk.
Overall Review: The keys could be a little more crisp when pressing - it isn't uncommon for them to feel a bit mushy at times. Still, though, they are more responsive than any other membrane keyboard, the membrane on this has far outlasted every other membrane board I've used, and if you're looking for a high quality keyboard but don't find a mechanical board you like, this is a good compromise. **UPDATE** Given that I bought this keyboard in July and it is now failing in February (about 7 1/2 months) after moderately heavy use primarily for typing, I can no longer recommend this keyboard.
Outstanding for basic-level PC's
Pros: Price, ease of installation. Perfect for a low-end PC used for basic tasks (I used this in a build for a school-age child). Cheaper to build a lower-end machine with this than it is to buy at a retail store.
Cons: For what I used it for, none.
Overall Review: This processor is surprisingly responsive on basic tasks. I wouldn't want to put it through the rigors of running a modern (last 5 years) game, but for most basic-use tasks, is just fine. I've always been very happy with AMD products in the machines I've built (despite their struggles to keep pace with Intel). They've always been less temperamental (if more power hungry and lately lagging in performance at the high end) for me than Intel, and at far friendlier prices. I have no reason at the current time, given the disparity of pricing for parts and processors, to change over to Intel, and this processor is a great product for the price.
Excellent
Pros: Low profile heat spreader. Worked with no issues on first boot. Significant upgrade in performance over other brands I've used before.
Cons: Green PCB. It doesn't detract from performance, I just like how a black PCB would go with this heat spreader better.
Overall Review: Great RAM chips. Crucial may have won a convert from another brand that gave me repeated issues.
