DivX works well
Pros: DivX capable!
Cons: You need to be a little technically savvy to burn DivX videos. The carrying case can hang off a car seat headrest, but it is not easy to adjust or mount correctly (mine already has a torn nylon strap). Switching between 16:9 and 4:3 is a multi-button menu navigation process. Somewhat expensive when compared to regular DVD players.
Overall Review: I mainly got this for the DivX capability to keep our 10 month old happy during holiday interstate travel. It was nice to be able to be able to cue up 6 hours worth of video without needing to swap discs.
Solid home network storage solution
Pros: The Thecus N2100 had all the features I was looking for in a home media server. In particular, the Gigabit Ethernet capability, RAID capability, iTunes server, and USB print server attracted me. I don't use the photo server or the FTP server.
Cons: Read Tom's Hardware for reviews. The Thecus N2100 is not as fast as the Buffalo Gigabit LinkStation, and not as powerful as the Infrant solutions. On the other hand, you won't find any other 2-drive products with the Thecus 2100's capabilities.
Overall Review: You have to be very careful in your hard drive selection. NewEgg's user reviews was very helpful shopping for quiet, cool, and compatible drives. I am runing 2 WD2500KS drives in RAID-1 mode and they run cool (49 C). I have an Epson Stylus Photo R200 attached to the USB print server.
