Crucial 32GB (2 x 16GB) DDR4 2666MHz DRAM (Notebook Memory) CL19 1.2V DR SODIMM (260-pin) CT2K16G4SFD8266

Overall Review: Reccomended.

Plugged in and worked immediately.

SYBA 4 Port SATA III PCI-E 2.0 x1 Model SD-PEX40099
SYBA 4 Port SATA III PCI-E 2.0 x1 Model SD-PEX40099

Pros: Easy to install if you have any open PCI-E slots. Drivers were installed automatically. Low cost way to add more Sata ports to an older motherboard.

Cons: (Need power for the new Sata devices... so you need to determine if an upgraded power supply is needed.)

Overall Review: Expanded SATA busses on an old desktop without any fuss or driver searching.

WD40EFRX drives received and now in use.

WD Red Plus 4TB NAS Hard Disk Drive - 5400 RPM Class SATA 6Gb/s, CMR, 64MB Cache, 3.5 Inch - WD40EFRX

Pros: Description accurate. Prompt shipping. Drives were packed appropriately for shipping.

Cons: No issues.

Overall Review: Recommended for NAS & DAS storage.

Good brand 2TB drive in 2.5" form factor.

Toshiba L200 2TB Laptop PC Internal Hard Drive 5400 RPM SATA 6Gb/s 128MB Cache 2.5 inch 9.5mm Height - HDWL120XZSTA (RETAIL PACKAGE)
Toshiba L200 2TB Laptop PC Internal Hard Drive 5400 RPM SATA 6Gb/s 128MB Cache 2.5 inch 9.5mm Height - HDWL120XZSTA (RETAIL PACKAGE)

Pros: 2 TB for a 2.5" drive is very nice. I was able to format this into 2 931GB volumes. I put this drive and a SSD drive into the same slot as an old 3.5" drive using a dual carrier. Now I have a faster system with more storage than I previously had.

Cons: 9.5 mm is thicker than supported by some devices (did not fit a NUC10).

Overall Review: Reccomended.

Nice NUC for desktop use

Intel NUC (Next Unit of Computing) BOXNUC8i5BEH1 Black Mini / Booksize Barebone System
Intel NUC (Next Unit of Computing) BOXNUC8i5BEH1 Black Mini / Booksize Barebone System

Pros: Performance is great for home office use. Small footprint saves desktop space. Good choice for fixed location computing. High quality.

Cons: Limited ports, you may need a usb hub. Limited graphics processor but OK for home office and photography use. Micro SD slot only (NUC10 full size SD). Cost is similar to all in one or laptop.

Overall Review: Just what I wanted. Replaced an older tower PC and a mess of wires with the NUC8i5 and a wireless mouse & keyboard. Plenty of desktop power with less fan noise than the previous tower. The build is simple... just carefully order the correct DRAM, an m.2 SSD, and a 2.5" HDD. Have a copy of Windows (or Linux) ready on a USB or USB optical drive. Put the OS on disk 1; the m.2 SSD, (disk 0 is the 2.5" HDD). In my case I used a monitor with a USB hub built in to give me a few extra ports. Make sure your monitor supports HDMI or DisplayPort. Get some tech help if you are unsure of what parts to order.

Good value usb-c attached Raid1 storage.

Model D2-310. Added two 4TB CMR drives, set my raid choice and was up and running in a few minutes. Works well on my NUC10 usb-c 3.1 gen 2 interface. Speeds are similar to internal drives. (Also successfully tested this in TerraMaster 'Single' mode to access each drive independently.) (This unit also supports Raid0 mode for high speed storage - especially high speed with SSD drives.)
