Most Favorable Review

Worked well in my network

TRENDnet TEW-P1PG Wireless Parallel Print Server 802.11b / g, RJ45 IEEE 1284 Male Centronics (DB-36)
TRENDnet TEW-P1PG Wireless Parallel Print Server 802.11b / g, RJ45 IEEE 1284 Male Centronics (DB-36)

Pros: I had no problem setting this unit up and getting it to work with a business class page printer. The utility that came on the disk installed and ran perfectly to allow me to change the subnet setting to match ours. Then, setting up the rest via the web interface worked smoothly. Works with both wired and wireless networks.

Cons: None so far

Overall Review: A good working knowledge of TCP/IP addressing on your network will make the installation easy.

Most Critical Review

Not as reliable as PATA version

Western Digital Blue WD800JB 80GB 7200 RPM 8MB Cache IDE Ultra ATA100 / ATA-6 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: Inexpensive, quiet

Cons: Have had some of these die shortly after installation.

Overall Review: Have had better luck with the PATA version of the same WD drive.

GREAT bang for the buck

AMD Phenom 8450 - Phenom X3 Toliman Triple-Core 2.1 GHz Socket AM2+ 95W Processor - HD8450WCJ3BGH
AMD Phenom 8450 - Phenom X3 Toliman Triple-Core 2.1 GHz Socket AM2+ 95W Processor - HD8450WCJ3BGH

Pros: Might be the best performance/dollar around right now. Got this for my personal machine. I run it at 2.4 GHz (15% OC'd) and under heavy load, rarely exceeds 110 deg. F with stock cooling. It clocks higher, but I don't want to shorten it's life. This might be most power you can get for this little money today, even at the stock clock.

Cons: none that I can think of

Overall Review: This processor is rock solid and runs cool, even when over clocked. Sure the Core 2 Duos are nice, but they cost so much more. The Athlon triple core has found another fan.

My favorite USB Wifi adapter

AZiO AWU254 802.11g 54Mbps Wireless Pen Adapter IEEE 802.11b/g USB 2.0 Up to 54Mbps Wireless Data Rates
AZiO AWU254 802.11g 54Mbps Wireless Pen Adapter IEEE 802.11b/g USB 2.0 Up to 54Mbps Wireless Data Rates

Pros: Inexpensive, works well even where other, better known brands don't. Good range, comes with extender wire so you can move the adapter for best reception/transmission.

Cons: software is somewhat strange, but works well once you get the hang of it.

Good budget board

GIGABYTE GA-M61PME-S2P AM2+/AM2 NVIDIA GeForce 6100 Micro ATX AMD Motherboard
GIGABYTE GA-M61PME-S2P AM2+/AM2 NVIDIA GeForce 6100 Micro ATX AMD Motherboard

Pros: Used more than a dozen of these and had problem with only 1 board. Just a good solid basic board at a decent price. I use them in basic business machines. This isn't the board you want if you're doing a lot of overclocking and fps gaming

Cons: Only 2 memory sockets.

Overall Review: Over all a good board at a low price. If you're going to be doing heavy overclocking, I would suggest a board with an AMD chipset.

Good cheap board

GIGABYTE GA-M61PME-S2 AM2 NVIDIA GeForce 6100 / nForce 430 Micro ATX AMD Motherboard

Pros: Low price, nvidia 6100 on-board video. Generally a good board for budget buyers

Cons: Only 2 memory slots & 2 SATA connectors
