Pros: Arrived quickly. Shucks easily.
Cons: Days later found a 14 TB drive with better cost/TB ratio. Maybe next time. :)
Overall Review: Scanned drive for errors before shucking and pulling hard drive for RAID use.
Pros: Inexpensive, silent, plenty of space for OS.
Cons: Keeps giving me BSOD, stops resonding
Overall Review: I've never had a problem with "re-certified" products before now. This SSD randomly becomes unresponsive or causes BSOD. Reboot sometimes fails when BIOS cannot find drive.
** UPDATE ** After working with the manufacturer, they replaced the drive and I've had no problems since.
Pros: Great price. Online reviews place this near the top in performance. Fast performance and a power-miser as well.
Overall Review: Fantastic drives for the price. I originally got this drive for my new (to me) laptop, and later ended up buying two more drives for the desktops in the house.
Pros: Inexpensive drive for such a large capacity. Company is quick to respond to inquires/issues.
Cons: Drive failed surface scans with too many bad sectors. Replacement drive also failed surface scans.
** see other thoughts below **
Overall Review: I don't mind refurbished equipment as long as it works. I purchased a 6 TB While Label hard drive four months ago and it still works well. This time two drives both failed testing before putting into production. Price/TB is good, but quality is a gamble.
The company, GoHardDrive, was very responsive and shipped a replacement drive quickly, too bad it also failed. They are apologetic about the experience and paid for return shipping on both drives.
Other Thoughts... I later discovered my testing environment was the cause of the drive failures, not the drives themselves.
Pros: Lightweight, converts to tablet mode easily. Hinges feel strong and durable. Back-lit keyboard. Powerful processor.
Cons: Memory maxes out at 12GB. Comes with mechanical HDD instead of SSD... also loaded with bloatware. Battery is not user-replaceable. Volume adjust button is next to OFF button.
Overall Review: Love it! I replaced the HDD with an SSD and loaded Windows 10 clean. Windows 10 has all drivers needed....no need to download anything special.
PS.. ...My laptop arrived in a "recertified" box, which did not include the proper UPC, so the rebate (at least for me) is worthless. It's only $20, so no great loss.
Pros: Bought it on sale at $150, which makes it $25/TB. It shipped quickly. I ran a surface scan test on the drive (took 84 hours) and it passed with no errors. SMART status looks alright as well. Very quiet drive with little heat.
Cons: None so far.
Overall Review: I placed this drive in my NAS device to expand my storage. Time will tell if it holds up in that environment. From what I can gather the original manufacturer was Western Digital. I don't believe it was a GREEN drive, but hopefully I snagged myself a RED. The original firmware has been replaced, so no clues there.
::UPDATE:: After three months in my Drobo NAS running 24/7, it has performed without issue. I would definitely buy again. In fact, it's on sale once again so I just might have to buy more. :)
Pros: Cost per MB was cheaper than other drives. Two year warranty.
Cons: Lasted only 15 months. Have to pay to send drive back.
Overall Review: Drive was in my Drobo NAS appliance. To be fair my data closet is not as cool as I'd like, but it's not hot either, so I'm not sure if that aided with the failure. I confirmed the drive fault with Seagate's SeaTools application and I'm just beginning the RMA process.
Pros: WD Red drives are solid performers and perfect for NAS systems. Price per terabyte is good when you catch them on sale.
Cons: Not the fastest drives, but in NAS systems the hard drive isn't the slowest link in the chain. Questionable packaging practices from Newegg.
Overall Review: This is directed more to Newegg than WD. I like WD Red drives and plan to buy more, but not here. Newegg's practice of tossing a drive into a box along with some padding makes for a 50/50 chance your drive will function when it arrives. They really need to get back to properly securing hard drives for shipping.
Newegg has done more harm than good to their reputation over hard drive packaging issues over the years. Getting it out the door fast is not always beneficial.
Pros: Powerful access point at a good price! Easy to manage with free downloaded software. Power Over Ethernet (POE) adapter included. Several mounting options (wood, drywall, drop ceiling).
Cons: Does not come with management software in the box. Non-standard 24V POE ....standard is 48V.
Overall Review: ...2nd arrived in good shape. I work in IT, and I've experienced many enterprise-level Access Points (APs). This AP is great for home or office and has power to spare! I have a 2500 sq-ft house with lots of concrete walls, and even on medium power this AP reaches everywhere I need with a good signal. Full power takes it to my property lines and beyond.
Negative comments about my phone conversation with Newegg would be a guideline violation, so I won't talk about it.
Pros: Large size...light weight. Picture is very sharp with colors that pop! Cost less than my old 46" model and is not as deep.
Cons: Stand not included. Few inputs, but enough for me. This is their basic, no-frills model after all. Electronic "whine" coming from power supply when started, but it quickly goes away (it's not the color wheel).
Overall Review: Bought this TV after my 6+ years old "other brand" DLP television was beginning to give me trouble (but it still serves me for my XBox enjoyment). This picture is simply amazing...sharp and crisp! Screen geometry is a little off, not much to make a difference really, but it can be adjusted via the service menu...you're on your own there.
Pros: I'm an IT person by trade...working with desktops, servers and everything in between.
I bought this laptop for my wife for Christmas and it's been a great machine! She plays mmorpg games and the large capacity hard drive and on-board video with dedicated memory keeps things flowing. The monitor is larger than most and the keyboard is nearly full-size.
Think it's time to buy one of those for me!
Overall Review: Only wish it came with Win7 Pro as an option instead of Win7 Home...maybe I'll take care of that later. :)
Pros: Pretty much does it all! Easily tailored to your needs.
Cons: Annual subscription service to .
Overall Review: My place of employment had two of these installed at different locations before we upgraded to one Fortigate 800. This device saved us so many man-hours...I can't even begin to count! It does content filtering, AV, firewall, stops spamware and malware...all before it enters your network.
Pros: At the time, cost/GB was around 11¢
Pros: I'm in the IT field, but didn't want to mess with a RAID setup for my media PC. I've been watching this for about a year before I bought...I was waiting for either a price drop or a connection better that USB. It does an excellent job of "minding the store" for data storage and protection. I'm just getting started with this storage unit and it is great!
Cons: The cost is high...especially when it doesn't include any drives, but it is still worth it (to me) for avoiding the headaches of configuring and upgrading RAID.
Pros: Very good drive...and a good price.
Cons: Didn't cost less!
Pros: Great after-market VGA cooler for the ATI-9550 series cards. Clears the tall capacitors on the card. Very quiet operation.
Overall Review: I could do without the blue LED...waste of electricity.
Pros: Does an excellent job of transferring heat. Is not conductive like Artic Silver.
Pros: Very good high-capacity drive. Quiet and quick.
Overall Review: Holds lots of ripped DVDs.
Pros: Good price. Fits my older hardware...which is why I bought it.
