Download the "Thunderstorm" app FIRST before you buy this...
Pros: It's a highly accurate bathroom scale. *IF* you verify you can get the app working properly, you can use the Bluetooth sync option to find out your detailed stats. Obviously as with all "electric pulse" scales like this, the stats won't be hyper-accurate like a body fat water tank measurement, for example... but you should already know this if you are enough of an enthusiast to be looking at a scale with these features, yes? :)
Cons: As the other reviewer mentioned, sometimes one cannot synchronize the scale to a Bluetooth enabled phone or iPad device. See other thoughts for how you can verify this will work before purchase. The company that made the app for this scale no longer creates new accounts so one of the "login" options required to make the scale work and sync with your Bluetooth device is no longer viable... but there are other options you can test before buying the scale if you download the app.
Overall Review: The Thunderstorm app is designed to automatically discover and connect with this scale once you stand on it long enough for it to process your body content based on the electrical signals it sends through your feet. This process is "pending" while you watch the 3 little "dots" blinking across the LED display region left to right. Once this process ends, the scale will send "new data" to your phone/iPad and the app there should prompt you to accept the new, incoming data. HOWEVER, the key is that you have to be "logged in"... whether through Facebook login, Google login, or a "guest" account. As I mentioned, the company that created this app no longer supports it so you cannot "sign-up for new account"... you'll never receive an e-mail from them as no one checks that e-mail sign-up account anymore. If you cannot get the app to all you to create a "guest" account, login via Facebook, or login via Google... then you have unfortunately just spent 15 to 30 bucks on an admittedly highly accurate bathroom scale that will only show you your weight in pounds. If you can get the app to work, then you can buy the scale confident that you will be able to use the advanced features (unless, of course, the scale is damaged legitimately to the point where its Bluetooth feature is simply not working at all...) Good luck!
Doesn't seem to work with TrendNet router
Pros: This was on sale a little over a month ago for ten and free shipping. Grabbed 4 of them thinking I would upgrade all PC's in the house from 54Mbps to 150.
Cons: This does not connect to a TrendNet router purchased just 4 years ago. I do not, unfortunately, have the model number handy as I'm at work right now and just thought to leave a review...
Overall Review: I have not upgraded the FIRMWARE of the router yet, so I'm hopeful that will solve the issue. I'm also hopefully Rosewill has customer support folks that monitor the reviews on Newegg similar to what EVGA does. As of this posting, Rosewill has no driver updates for this product so the 1.0 drivers are all you get...
Great cooling unit working well so far on my 11th gen i5
Pros: - Incredibly easy to install on the motherboard (LGA 1200) - Compound included seemed great, likely at or near "Arctic Silver" quality, which seems to be a standard for heat sink compounds - Has kept the CPU incredibly cool for a month now
Cons: - Size, maybe? If you don't have enough room for some reason - but it's very compact so that's highly unlikely
Overall Review: Bought this as a good mid-range cooling device since I'm not the type to overclock and there's no reason to do something like crypto-mining with an Intel i5 chip (at least not the one I bought) so running the clock up on my CPU isn't needed. Having said that, I feel based on what I've seen from this device so far that it could protect and keep your CPU lasting for many years at mild to moderate overclocks - but I have not tested that so it's not in the "Pros" section of this review.
APC products are my go-to for Enterprise use and also home use
Pros: - This protects my RTX 3090 machine quite well - I've used APC products almost exclusively in IT for nearly 2 decades and never had any significant performance issues with them - This is the first time I've purchased a Sine Wave product, but the reviews and the science behind it convinced me to spend the extra 10-20% over a "regular" backup unit
Cons: - None
Overall Review: I have several APC backup batteries protecting a variety of mining PCs of various power levels in my home. Even when I had outages and problems with my 200 amp service (1 of the 2 rails incoming from the power lines had a loose connection) these battery backup units always protected my PCs from damage. Now that the power has been cleaned up (new 200 amp service installed) I haven't had to use these as I have not had any power outages in the last 3 months (Duke energy service, they do a good job!) As mentioned in "Pros", I've trusted APC at the business/enterprise level for a long time and this product will likely perform quite well for longer than the life of the PC attached to it.
Plantronics products are always top quality, this headset is no different
Pros: - Bought this for Discord push-to-talk while gaming with friends - Quality is 10/10, leaps and bounds above anything I could get from decent Bluetooth earbud devices that seem to work fine for phone calls and Zoom/Teams meetings - This headset is wired, which may also make a difference on Discord but it's a "pro" for the sake of this experience vs. my lackluster Bluetooth experiences in the past
Cons: - It's wired? Not really a con unless you wanted wireless - but it's pretty clearly pointed out in pics and specs
Overall Review: I tried to get by with Bluetooth earbuds for online chatting while gaming but it just wasn't cutting it. This headset was such a noticeable improvement that a few people even commented "Did oohwha (my online moniker nearly 2 decades now) change his headset?" When I heard them saying that, I knew I had to come write a review. Needless to say, if you're glued to your PC/laptop for any voice chat needs, this is high quality bang for the buck. It appears to cancel out all background noise quite well also, though I didn't test that enough to list it as a "pro" yet.
Amazing motherboard full of features and power
Pros: - Fit perfectly in the case, no issues with any components or plugs/cables - Booted with no issues (you must enable TPM 2.0 for Windows 10/11 Pro as, at the time of this review writing [Nov 30th, 2021], this motherboard ships with that option disabled in UEFI BIOS settings) - With TPM 2.0 enabled, Windows 10 (or 11) Pro setup without issue - Lots of hookups for fans, USB, etc.
Cons: - Price? If you're building a top end system that's not much concern though - this is well worth it for someone doing an RTX 3090 build for example. - The M.2 slot required me to get out the eyeglass repair kit - the tools for screws that ship with this motherboard are not nearly small and precise enough to deal with the screws used for the M.2 slot
Overall Review: I don't normally go all out on motherboards, but this was part of the "combo" I won in the Newegg Shuffle alongside an RTX 3090 (felt like Christmas came early this year). This motherboard is phenomenal and I highly recommend it for a top end build in a large case with lots of fans and accessory needs.
Great product, but then Plantronics products always are!
Bought this because I needed a single-ear, wired headset for Discord push-to-talk while gaming (as in-game chat is often rough or non-existent). Have always used Plantronics gear at work (IT person) and it's always been top notch quality. You get what you pay for, as it were. This is perfect if you need high audio quality (mic AND single ear speaker) for anything - Zoom meetings, gaming, VoIP calls around the world, etc. 10/10 quality.
