FANTASTIC CARD

EVGA GeForce GTX 980 04G-P4-2983-KR 4GB SC GAMING w/ACX 2.0, 26% Cooler and 36% Quieter Cooling Graphics Card
EVGA GeForce GTX 980 04G-P4-2983-KR 4GB SC GAMING w/ACX 2.0, 26% Cooler and 36% Quieter Cooling Graphics Card

Pros: Pros are the card runs cool even under a big load and quiet. I am playing The Witcher 3 on Ultra fully maxed out and getting a solid 60 FPS.

Cons: I'm not sure this is a con, but the fans do not cut in until the card reaches 60c to 65c. I have had no temp issues and it stays cool and quiet.

Overall Review: I got The Witcher 3. I knew that it would use some resources. I was running a GTX 680 Signature Super Overclocked card. I set it to Ultra and in heavy battles the frame rate dropped off to 16 - 18 FPS. Dialed it back to High and it did better. I Installed the GTX 980, and I have a good solid 60 FPS maxed out on Ultra settings even in the same heavy fight scene. This card is a dream. You can use EVGA's Precision X to configure the fans the way you want and have them running all the time.

STAY AWAY FRON THIS LEMON

SAMSUNG DVD Recorder & VCR Combo DVD-VR375
SAMSUNG DVD Recorder & VCR Combo DVD-VR375

Pros: Great VCR function with extreme high quality recording and playback. Upconvert through HDMI is Fantastic. Playback through Component connection with progessive scan enabled is a huge improvement. The VHS is probably the best I've seen, and I've been fooling with these things for over 20 years.

Cons: No Timer record in DVD mode. It will consistantly format the disk, making it unplayable and unrecordable if you are using +R or -R media. It is advisable that you use RW media. so as not to wreck a lot disks as I have. It will record a program that are watching to DVD, and i was able to do one transfer from VHS to DVD. I have always liked Samsung's products, but they missed the boat on this thing.

Overall Review: There are many combo's out there, so don't get sucked in with this one. This is a very definate DO NOT BUY. It is unfortunate that the QC people never checked the functions of this as is evident, or wouldn't have been released to market. Those that are rating this thing at 4 and 5 stars ahave obviously not tried all of the functions as they don't work, and the rating is premature and deceptive in my opinion.

JUST SOME OBSERVATIONS

GELID Solutions CC-SnowStorm-01 92mm Hydro SnowStorm Triple Powered Heatpipes CPU Cooler
GELID Solutions CC-SnowStorm-01 92mm Hydro SnowStorm Triple Powered Heatpipes CPU Cooler

Pros: Good Cooler and efficient. For the price, if you are on a budget, it is a very good option as it is a quality cooler.

Cons: None really. As for OCing, it is probably not the best solution for that, but does okay. I have managed to get 4.5 Ghz with the i7 4770k I have in here. Anything more than that, it gets unstable and blue screens.

Overall Review: Okay, I have been reading through the posts. I saw one that mentioned the screws were too short and made it difficult to mount the cooler. This One is nearly Identical to the Gelid Tranquillo in the way it mounts, in fact, I would say that it is a rebadged Tranquillo. If the screws were too short, then you have mounted the back Plate upside down. Most of the problems I have read about, seems to be from not mounting the back plate properly. For Intel, you DO NOT want the plate itself against the motherboard, Just the "Feet" at the corners. If those Feet are off the motherboard, the screw has to travel further and will come up short ( also affects the springs ). As for the fan mounting, I have mine on the rear side towards the rear Exhaust fan and the fan turn to pull air through the Heatsink and discharge it towards the rear exhaust fan. works well. In all fairness, the instruction that come with that thing, does leave a little to be desired.

Third and Final

GELID Solutions Tranquillo CC-TranQ-01-A 120mm Hydro Dynamic CPU Cooler
GELID Solutions Tranquillo CC-TranQ-01-A 120mm Hydro Dynamic CPU Cooler

Pros: This is a very good cooler. It is big, but not so big that I can't use all of my DIMM slots. It is pretty near dead silent. Good over all design and gets the job done from little I have seen. I took one egg off because of the mounting instructions.

Cons: The mounting instructions leave a lot to be desired. I messed up and mounted it wrong and destroyed my Motherboard. Pay very close attention to where the insulation is. The ears ( for and Intel socket ) must be against the motherboard. For AMD, the side with the larger insulated area must be against the Motherboard. Don't care much for the wire clips for the fan, but not bad if you put it on before installing the motherboard.

Overall Review: As I said, I took one egg off because of the mounting instructions. Would I buy this again? Yep.

UPDATE TO PREVIOUS REVIEW

ZALMAN CNPS10XPERFORMA 120mm Long Life Bearing CPU Cooler
ZALMAN CNPS10XPERFORMA 120mm Long Life Bearing CPU Cooler

Pros: There is a lot to like about this cooler. It is well designed and works well. I did have to remove the resistor that was in the line as it impeded the fan control functions that were built in. I am running a Core i7 2600k that is OCed to 4.4 Ghz. The temps at idle are in the upper 30sC to lower 40sC. During gaming they get up to around 50C - 53C. Was a bit dicey on the install as I am using an ASUS P8Z68-VPro MOBO and there is one corner where the two heatsinks on the MOBO intersect that is a bit tight. Wasn't too bad with the proper tools though.

Cons: As I previously stated, it is too darned big and crowded out one DIMM slot. I will probably have to shop around for something smaller or go to two sticks of 4 Gb Ram to get 8 Gb.

Overall Review: If you have a nice roomy box, then this is a good cooler, but make sure of the layout of your motherboard, in particular the DIMM slots as they relate to the CPU socket. You do need some space there.

Great Looking & Has a Lot of Goodies

ASUS P8Z68-V PRO LGA 1155 Intel Z68 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard with UEFI BIOS
ASUS P8Z68-V PRO LGA 1155 Intel Z68 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard with UEFI BIOS

Pros: Just finished a build around this board & i7 2600k processor. Haven't as yet booted it up as I had to order a new keyboard. It seems that there is no PS/2 port and I ordered a USB keyboard. I am keeping my fingers crossed that all goes well. Some of the complaints I've read, seem to be self induced, such as the PSU's shorting out. I'm thinking that standoffs weren't used in that case.

Cons: The one CPU cooler mounting hole is right in tha carner where the two heatsinks intersect and is rather tight ( I do have a rather large Cooler though and it takes out the A1 DIMM slot, so I am stuck with 4 gb of memory ).

Overall Review: From all indications, this promises to be a good board. The layout of the components is good ( except for the above mentioned ).

Plenty of information to make a choice.

Was doing an Upgrade of my Desktop, first i about 4 years. Newegg is my go to as i get the information / specs I need to make a choice. The Information available on a product, coupled with the reviews gives me plenty to work with and have been satisfied with my purchases because of this.

VERY NICE CASE

I have had a CaseLogic bag for sometime for a smaller 15.6 " Laptop and have been very happy with it. This one really holds some stuff as well and doesn't bulge. I would recommend this bag for the average Person.
