Overclocker's dream board

EVGA 141-GT-E770-A1 LGA 1366 Intel X58 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Extended ATX Intel Motherboard
EVGA 141-GT-E770-A1 LGA 1366 Intel X58 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Extended ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: Comprehensive BIOS, lifetime warranty, stellar support, and it's mad sexy as well! What more could you ask for? This board is awesome. Upgraded from the E758 model, and I am loving this board. Just finished building a water-cooled rig with 2 x GTX480 HydroCoppers (also EVGA), an i7-930 and some new Dominators, and this board took everything in stride immediately, without a single hiccup. The board includes an inbuilt PCIe 12V molex plug so you don't need to be concerned about melting the 24pin connectors that some older model boards have experienced in isolated cases (apparently caused by excessive voltage draw by NVidia 400/500 series and recent ATI model graphic cards). I am still using SATA2 drives for now - waiting for the SATA3 drives to come down in price a little before switching over, but I have heard some SATA3 users comment that the speed is absolutely smoking.

Cons: None.

Overall Review: Price is getting up there, but in this case you definitely get what you pay for. Quality and performance are top notch, and well worth the price tag.

Dissapointed

CORSAIR CMXAF1 Fans
CORSAIR CMXAF1 Fans

Pros: Looks good and does cool the RAM when operating as it should, however...

Cons: ...it's been 3 months and I can't stand the noise and vibration any longer. The middle of the 3 fans makes a VERY loud high whine noise at times, and wont stop without me physically stopping and restarting the fans. Even when it runs without the whine, I have them down at 35% on BIOS as the usual noise and frequency of the three fans together makes a oscillating vibration throughout the case that is just horrible, so I have removed it from my PC altogether now.

Overall Review: I could RMA for replacement, but what's the point? I don't want a continuation of the same issue. I have just ordered the newer CMXAF2 RAM fan through Newegg and will see if that fares any better.

PCIe slot #1 DoA

ASUS TUF Gaming Z690-Plus WiFi D4 LGA 1700 Intel 12th Gen ATX Gaming Motherboard- PCIe 5.0, DDR4, 4xM.2/NVMe SSD, 14+2 Power Stages, WiFi 6, Intel 2.5Gb LAN
ASUS TUF Gaming Z690-Plus WiFi D4 LGA 1700 Intel 12th Gen ATX Gaming Motherboard- PCIe 5.0, DDR4, 4xM.2/NVMe SSD, 14+2 Power Stages, WiFi 6, Intel 2.5Gb LAN

Cons: PCIe slot #1 was dead on arrival. PCIe slot #2 worked, but that only runs at x4/x8.

Overall Review: Do not appreciate DoA PCIe slot. Returning for replacement, hopefully the replacement is ok.

Solid RAM, running on ASUS Maximus IX Hero with i7-7700k

CORSAIR Dominator Platinum 32GB (4 x 8GB) DDR4 3000 (PC4 24000) Desktop Memory Model CMD32GX4M4C3000C15
CORSAIR Dominator Platinum 32GB (4 x 8GB) DDR4 3000 (PC4 24000) Desktop Memory Model CMD32GX4M4C3000C15

Pros: Owned this RAM coming up 10 months now, and not a single problem since day one, run using XMP profile, was fine with i7-7700k overclocked to 5GHz. Looks great with the light bar upgrade kit.

Cons: None.

Overall Review: I've used a number of different RAM manufacturers over the last 10 years or so, but I keep coming back to Corsair, particularly the Dominators. Always solid RAM right out of the box every time for me.

RAM candy!

CORSAIR CMDLBUK02B Light Bar Upgrade Kit for Dominator Platinum
CORSAIR CMDLBUK02B Light Bar Upgrade Kit for Dominator Platinum

Pros: Great looking mod for your RAM, relatively easy to install, and the typically superior packaging makes a nice place to store the stock light bar that came with the Dominator Platinum RAM. These are not glaringly bright either, I am happy to say. Choice of blue or white. Awesomeness.

Cons: Zero.

Overall Review: A red option would be nice, although I imagine you could just color the white ones in with a red sharpie (permanent marker) and achieve the same thing.

Unbelievable price (not in a good way)

brother HL Series HL-2170W Workgroup Up to 23 ppm Monochrome Wireless Laser Printer
brother HL Series HL-2170W Workgroup Up to 23 ppm Monochrome Wireless Laser Printer

Pros: Great printer, I purchased a couple of years back, although from Office Depot I think, not Newegg. Running on home network through a wireless router, absolutely no problems whatsoever, all devices see the printer and install drivers without issue. Clear, clean printing, ideal for home use (unless you want color of course).

Cons: I posted mainly because of the price being charged. Currently showing as $799.95 + $40.99 shipping through some party called "Action Packaged Inc." This is beyond ridiculous, and I wish Newegg were a bit more diligent about who they allow to sell on their website. I paid under $100 for this a couple of years ago. These 3rd party sellers seem to be getting worse and worse.

Overall Review: Good printer, but only at maybe 10% of the current price of $799.95 + $40.99 shipping.
