Pros: The latency on these things is ridiculous!
Snazzy Blue color.
Lifetime Guarantee!? Nice.
Cons: The ASUS board I'm using recognized the RAM as 1600 as opposed to 1866. It also auto set the timing to 9-11-11-28 or something like that. So, I did have to go in and manually set that. Twice. After I updated the BIOS, it forgot, so I had to do it again. But that's small potatoes, and more of a comment on the board than anything else. These things are great.
Overall Review: I think I'm going to use G.Skill for all my Memory needs from this point on.
Pros: I did get an ASUS motherboard that didn't come with any video interface, so I was worried, but then very happy to see that the card worked before I installed any drivers.
Just to be safe, I didn't use the CD, and instead opted for the latest drivers on the ASUS website. So far, so good. No crashes or black screens.
Cons: None as of yet.
Overall Review: Bear in mind that I am not using this thing for hardcore gaming or anything like that. I did play a little bit on Minecraft with all the setting the highest they would go (no texture pack or anything though), which is something I was not really able to do on my laptop.
I've only used the VGA so far. I will use the HDMI eventually maybe to watch Netflix or something.
Pros: Got this for a build, and it booted just fine.
Drivers easy to update.
This board will serve me fine.
I've never seen such an awesome looking BIOS screen before!
Cons: I did need to get a flash drive to update the LAN driver in order to update the rest of the machine, which was mildly annoying. But after that, it worked great.
Overall Review: In regards to the LAN thing, I installed Ubuntu on this machine first, and didn't need to update that driver. But then I scrapped that and put Win7 on it, and that's when I needed the LAN driver.
Pros: This thing is modular, which I've never used before, but boy is it nice, having only the wires you need in there.
The fan does light up blue which is pretty neat. No way to turn that off from what I can see, but I like it, so it's a non-issue.
Cons: The instructions said make sure the voltage switch was set to correct setting (EU vs USA), and I looked all over for one, and did not see one, so directions are a bit misleading. However, it didn't fry anything, so it turned out fine in the end.
Price could be lower too, I guess, but it's pretty slick.
Overall Review: Give this supply a go. I think you'll like it.
