super
Pros: Quiet, super fast, low power consumption, cool. What else is there? Knocked a good 20 seconds off my boot time, system is notably more responsive. Final upgrade in a Thinkpad T41, replacing a 7,200rpm Hitachi 7K60.
Cons: None really. It's a very nice drive.
Overall Review: Folks, you should not assume that 5,400 rpm drives are automatically "slower" than 7,200 rpm ones. Life just isn't that simple. A larger 5,400 rpm drive can easily outperform an older, smaller 7,200 rpm drive in most circumstances. While this drive rotates 33% more slowly than the 60GB drive I replaced, the 160GB is packed on the same size disk 266% more densely. Now time taken to read or write is influenced by - time taken to move the head to the right track - time taken waiting for the disk to turn to the data - actually reading or writing the data. Now a 7,200 rpm drive is only faster at doing the middle one. This drive is easily beats my old 7,200 rpm drive in everyday use because it is so much faster at the third one, because the data is packed so much more densely. Not to mention this drive has a larger cache, which will sometimes help a lot. Bottom line - Spin Speed isn't everything, we're not drying clothes here!
Pros: It looks fine. It's a samsung. Mostly screen with very little bezel, which suits me because I like my monitors to be all monitor.
Cons: The stand is terrible, it has a huge amount of flex in it. Unless your desk is completely rock stable this monitor will be swaying from side to side as you type. I cannot imagine how many cents they have saved on this or why they would design it this way. My faithful old samsung 204B's are absolutely rock solid by comparison. The unit ships with documentation which states a 1 year warranty even though newegg lists 3 years. Really not sure what the story is with that. My unit is being RMA'ed. It had very poor image quality, it appeared to have color bleed as though the different coloured pixels were not lined up 100%.
Overall Review: If you are used to a rolls royce quality unit from samsung, as I am having bought many of their products, I would warn you to steer clear of this unit. In my opinion this unit is the dud in the family.
still going strong
Pros: These are great monitors and mine is still going strong after 7 years. In fact I am annoyed it still works because my wife won't let me replace it.
Cons: Capacitor problem
Overall Review: If you have the flickering or slow start problem it could well be the capacitors and as people have mentioned you can buy a kit to repair from a popular auction site. I did this myself and it took me about 20 minutes. If you are comfortable with a soldering iron the repair is absolutely trivial. If not maybe a local store could help for a small price.
Actually fits drive bays
Pros: This was my second purchase for a kit to put an SSD inside an antec P160 (this case now contains its third build) My case drive bays mount drives from the bottom rather than the side, and the first kit I purchased simply did not fit. This kit is all metal, looks and feels secure and got the job done. A little more expensive, but getting everything done properly and securely is worth it. Very happy with this purchase.
Cons: None really. I suppose I could have tried to save a few bucks but this drive will hopefully last a few years and an extra 10 bucks over say 3 years is about 27 cents per month. Not worth worrying about.
Excellent budget laptop
Pros: Solid construction, bright screen, fast boot time, as fast as any computer on earth for general web browsing and email etc. has so much power you couldn't possibly use more for these jobs. Nice quality webcam good for skype.
Cons: full of bloatware, easily removed
Overall Review: I bought this for an aging parent to use for web duties, skyping the grand kids etc. It is perfect, easily used on your lap, plenty fast enough. I was worried about the low-ish resolution for a screen this size but actually it's perfect for this kind of work.
Super little Phone
Pros: Super little phone, a nice size, nice gentle ring tone, shows caller id etc., charges quickly and most importantly sounds nice and clear.
Cons: Not really any. If you want a good single phone with the key features but without unnecessary frills, this is it!
Overall Review: My wife and I bought this to replace a 5 year old phone that was beginning to make odd beeping noises. We couldn't be happier for the price.
