Pros: Fairly cheap, and very easy to set up. Plug and play, no adjustments made.
Cons: Directly after installing this units at my router and computer a touch lamp in the bedroom began randomly going on and off, or changing brightness. I chalked it up to lamp failure but after unplugging the powerline networking units it returned to normal.
The computer began to take 3-4 minutes to return from sleep mode, never had done that before. I took out the old wireless card which made no difference. Unplugged the Cat 5 cable from the Netgear unit and the computer returned to normal function.
Upon re-installation of the wireless NIC I now have network again, the computer doesn't take 3-4 minutes to return from sleep mode, but I have this Netgear Powerline 500 kit to return. MEH.
Overall Review: I would love to hear from others about similar issues, or once again I have a very unique situation on my hands with strange goings on after purchasing a new tech item.
Pros: Arrived undamaged. Worked, sort of. I get to spend time with my computer trying to figure out why the drive is so slow.
Cons: Very slow drive in my aging AMD system. I have a 970 chipset, quad core running at 3.7ghz and 8GB ram. At first I cloned and that was a no go, computer locked up. After a fresh load of Win 7 Ultimate it does boot and function but at a slower rate than the 10k spinner that it replaced. I'm seeking a solution now and will get back to you.
Overall Review: I have a 128GB Sandisk drive in another computer with a newer mobo and a I5 and it functions normally for an SSD, boot time was appreciably faster. Maybe it is the 2009 mobo and older chipset that is the problem with S-L-O-W boot times and software loading. Windows updates just drag along.
Not what I was looking for when I spent my $100.
Pros: Cool factor, it's so tiny and plugs into the M-sata spot on my mobo. It's still working and it's fast, 20 secs to useable desktop.
Cons: Cost per megabyte
Overall Review: If your motherboard has an m-sata slot these are so cool.
Pros: They are in stock and supposedly get a nice hash rate doing Ltc or DOGE
Cons: NE is charging too much for these cards, but I have to acknowledge supply and demand and the demand is quite high due to cryptocoin mining.
Way high price and NO video game included. Darn!!
Overall Review: Thanks to the fellow that posted his cgminer settings in his review. I tried those exact settings for my Sapphire R9 280X and my hash rate went up to 737, so thanks for that.
Pros: Small lightweight, good sound, connects with phone and can be used to answer calls, people magnet
Cons: None considering what it is and the price on sale of $75
Overall Review: May require re-pairing with some devices, like MY phone, not such problems exist with a Galaxy Tablet
Pros: None although at $70 marked down from $249 it is still a ripoff
Cons: Plastic chassis picks up bass from speakers and magnifies it.
Overall Review: Pickup has plastic or graphite stem that holds needle, snapped off after two months.
Pros: Held 32 gb of data
Cons: Failed after 13 months of use, will not format.
Overall Review: I was happy with the speed and capacity while it worked.
It was in a Galaxy Tab 2 for a year until it failed, did not get used much.
Pros: Cheap flash drive with 32gb capacity, free shipping
Cons: No activity light, formats to 29.xx gb, plastic case cracked after a couple of weeks but the unit still works fine.
Overall Review: For the price it's a good deal
Pros: Looked great, nicely packaged, arrived from Newegg in perfect condition shipping wise
16GB in 2 sticks
Cons: 1 stick hangs memtest at 14-16%, other stick completes test just fine. I have spent 3 hrs diagnosing customers brand new computer, he ain't happy, I ain't happy.
Overall Review: Hopefully can get the one bad stick replaced
Pros: Nice looking and packaged with cool bags for PSU and cables.
Runs 3 7950 overclocked video cards
Hasn't failed at close to peak load for a month
Screw on connectors for modular cables work great
Cons: None yet. Some complain that it isn't fully modular but that wasn't an issue for me.
Overall Review: I thought it might be a little light to run 3 overclocked vid cards but it is handling the situation with aplomb. My previous PSU wouldn't run 2 of the cards at as high an overclock and remain stable.
Pros: Arrived well packaged so no damage to even the box.
Game coupon was included
Came with crossfire bridge
Dual fans and huge heat sink
Plays the included games very well on my 23" monitor at 1080P.
It fits in my case.
Cons: Some artifacting while running a high load application that is all the rage right now. Runs around 70C in a cool room. No artifacts when that app is stopped.
Fan is noisy above 65% but I don't have to sit and listen to it.
Overall Review: I was able to download the two games on the coupon but saw nothing to indicate that I would get Far Cry Blood Dragon except from the promo. But after a week I received an email with a link to download it so am a happy camper now. Considering getting another for crossfire and to boost my other app score higher.
Pros: The anticipation of faster boot times
Cons: The realization that faster boot times just aren't happening.
From button press to Windows required 70 seconds just now. I put this SSD into a 2nd computer to verify that it is the drive and not the computer. Once updates and basic programs are loaded half the capacity is used up and it takes as long to boot as the HDD it replaced
Overall Review: If you need to blow $200 take your wife or girl friend out to a fancy dinner. You will get way more in return than I have from using this SSD.
It is slow and is slow in both computers I've tried it in. One has a I7 2600 and the other a Q6600 with Intel board. Neither one is a speed demon with this drive.
What gives, I'm very disappointed.
Pros: Easy setup, worked with Kingston memory I ordered, no annoying beeps like some have stated (one only), has worked for a week, works with I7-2600S
Cons: Only 2 mem slots as stated in details which I missed, no optical spdif also stated, no USB 3 header on board also stated. No over-clock genie software in box, must download
Overall Review: Be sure to support the edge when inserting 24-pin ATX connector,
Pros: Got it on a Shell Shocker deal for $40 shipped. Lots of fans, quiet, good ventilation, lighted front fan, mesh filters in the front and bottom.
Cons: Only has USB 3 20 pin connector so make sure your mobo
has the required internal header or you won't have front USB.
Drive indicator light does not work and the power light worked for a while but not now after 20 mins of use.
Overall Review: Rather stylish, pleasant dark red color bands on both side sides of the front, red fan light matches case color.
I guess I can live with the defects. Will try to cut the usb3 20 pin connector in half and try to figure out which way it connects to my internal usb2 headers.
Pros: Lightweight, front ports, free shipping, ATX of M-ATX
ventilated side panel, no sharp corners
Cons: Thin metal bends easily, video card difficult to insert
because case bending away from it
Front audio cable does not match pinout for Asus P5QL-E
Overall Review: Would buy again for those spare parts machines but
full-fare customer might not be happy with such an inexpensive case
Pros: Inexpensive for water cooling, self-contained with no hoses to hook up or fluids to mess with.
Cools an Athlon X2 550BE to 28C idle and 44C running Prime95. When switched to a quad using ACC it idles at 33C and at full load with P95 at 49C. When using a Phenom II air cooler it would go up to 67C in minutes at full load and I would have to shut it down.
This thing works.
Cons: Not exactly a con but you must pull your motherboard to install the backing plate. I disconnected the 8 and 24 pin power cables and everything else had enough slack for me to lift the board out of the case to get the old backing plate off and the new one on.
Did not buy from the Egg. Sorry.
Overall Review: Doesn't ship with the AMD retention bracket & backing plate BUT a visit to the Corsair website will net you the components for free with a small $5 shipping charge which is really cheap considering I requested the bracket on Sep 15th around noon and the thing was on my doorstep the morning of the 17th. Plus you do not have to go to any great lengths to prove you own the H50 so it is not like those damnable rebate submissions at all. Really easy.
Pros: 23 inches and since I sold a 21.6 by another mfg I can say that bigger is better. This also has all 3 input types and my other one only had HDMI and D-SUB.
Nice and bright, no dead pixels. Free shipping.
Only $159 if rebate is honored.
Cons: I didn't buy it from Newegg. With ATI 4870 card I had to switch to 1920x1080 before it would bring up the scaling options in CCC. I spent time looking before and was wondering where the h#*l it was, finally thought to switch res and viola'.
Overall Review: All screen activities are better at 1080P.
Pros: Cheap, comes with rebate, works well at PC-6400
Cons: After trying this ram on 3 AMD motherboards, 2 Gigabyte and 1 Asrock, I have to say that it does not run stabily at 1066 on any of them.
Still cannot download TV shows because Charter Communications must be a (paid woman expletive) for the RIAA
Overall Review: This memory runs fine at DDR2-800 at stock voltage on all boards I have tried it on. I have tried the tricks suggested by OCZ forums and they have not worked for me. I am satisfied to run it at the lower speed for now. If I need more speed from my memory I will purchase another kind at that time.
Pros: Has everything on it already, no need to add stuff, easy to set up IF you are already familiar with Gigabytes method, namely ctrl-F1 to access the advanced CPU and memory tweaks. Does unlock the extra cores on my X2-550 processor but I had to use Hybrid, look for it in the ACC section of the bios
There is enough space between my Crossfire 4870 cards so the top card now gets enough airflow unlike the Asrock board this one replaced.
Cons: It does cost $170 and won't do that thing your girlfriend taught me
Overall Review: If you have a bunch of DDR-2 ram and want to make use of it this is the board to get. The heatpipe cooler for the north and south bridges is super nice too plus it also cools the 8 phase power chips, or some of them.
I haven't yet figured out how to make my OCZ 1066 ram run at that speed but not the boards fault as this is the 3rd board I've tried the ram in.
I had to flash the BIOS to properly recognize my X2-550 but it worked prior to the flash so no biggie
Pros: Got my rebate from OCZ. They always send me the rebate which is impressive.
Cons: Even running at 2.14V these do not pass Prime95 at 1066 mhz. Dropping back to 800 mhz they pass easily.
Overall Review: Putting on a sticker that says 1066 does not make them so.
Pros: Cheap, large L2 cache, fast as quad in many apps, overclocks easily with Asrock AOD790GX to 3.8ghz
Also the extra 2 cores unlocked with the Asrock board and passed Prime95
Oh yes, unlocked multiplier.
Cons: Doesn't automatically configure the bios for you, hehe
Really lousy (without fleas) little heatsink it comes with is probably sufficient if you don't OC or unlock 2 more cores.
Overall Review: Get one of these and a motherboard that supports ACC to unlock those cores while you can. AMD must catch on to this soon or lose even more money.
As good as a Phenom II 955 for $140 less.
Pros: Has worked very well with Phenom II 940BE for several months. I just installed a Phenom II X2 550 and it unlocked the extra 2 cores for me using ACC. It is running those 4 cores at 3.4ghz presently using 1.375v and 1.250v for NB
Mine works with 8GB of OCZ 1066 ram, others have had worse luck with those modules.
Cons: Even with bios 1.50 doesn't properly identify the X2 550
Flashing bios is a RPITA, used a USB floppy, made boot disc, had to delete a bunch of files from it, copied AFUDOS and new bios file, guessed at commands, I.E. AFUDOS a790GXS1.50 /p /n/ /b and watched nervously as bios was flashed. Thankfully it worked but now I will have to do it again when v 1.6 is released that will hopefully recognize the X2 550
Overall Review: Now that the price has come down to $99 it is a really good deal. I paid at least $119 several months ago.
Your luck will vary with the X2 550BE and unlocking those extra 2 cores, mine was good today so I have a quad for $103. !!Exclamation....object that holds back water!! OK, for stupids rhymes with ram
Pros: None unless you need a low profile card
Cons: No full size bracket included, does not have the pin header I need for front panel firewire.
Overall Review: Ten buck wasted and will have to spend another ten or more on a different card. My customer is still waiting. Not worth the RMA.
Pros: Nice design, large capacity, Seagate name
Cons: Don't get these if you have much technical knowledge or they will frustrate the heck out of you. Will not work with Apple software according to specifications. May not work with Linux either. Why?
Overall Review: I like a drive that works immediately when I hook it up. I ordered 2 of these to distribute data on and when I was not almost immediately presented with a drive letter to write to I began searching for clues on how to make this drive operate. After about 10 minutes the light came on (drive light, not mine) and the computer recognized the drive. I quickly deleted the special Seagate files and it operated like a normal drive after that. More work than it's worth to me.
Pros: Holds 2Gb of data, minus the usual formatting loss.
Works in any computer I put it in.
Cons: So small it might get lost. Not really a con but a management issue. hehehehe
Overall Review: I wish women were this easy!
