Working well
Pros: This is the quietest optical drive I've ever owned. It worked natively in Win7, works in XP after downloading and installing UDF 2.5 drivers. It works on it's side too. I've watched about twenty hours of blu ray so far with no problems.
Cons: I couldn't find this exact model on the LG site for future firmware updates. The LED is obnoxiously bright. I have it covered up.
Comments: Moves as much air as I need it to, quieter than the ones that came with my tsunami case. Perfect there. Big problem though, the LEDs are way too bright, and point the wrong way. I have some of their 80mm fans where the lights are in the corners pointing inward lighting up the fan itsself. These point forward straight into my eyes. It's like staring at four of those keychain lights. I may end up putting tape over them.
Mine was basically new
Pros: The one I got had a manufacturing date only eight months old. That's about what you'd expect for a new one after it sitting in shipping containers and warehouses coming from the other side of the planet. It read zero hours of run time and zero power cycles. I don't know if it was never used, or if they reset all the SMART data.
Cons: Maybe some of them have been used more than the one I got.
Comments: Put this in a panasonic toughbook, pentium2, no problems with it.
Comments: The seek noise is louder than some I've heard, but I can't hear any kind of whine from the spinning. The read speeds are definitely fast. Mine is two years old now and still no problems.
Comments: Still works two years later. Looks great. It would be nice if they could stop the fans though. The included extension cables are great and long enough.
