Pros: Everything works well, makes for an excellent replacement for the 1001FALS model.
Cons: I don't know what to do with 1TB!
Overall Review: Hopefully, it won't die in 31 days; we'll see.
Pros: This game is so much better than any COD/BF/etc. game I've ever played. Everything in it is great, realistic (this is made by the same company that makes Virtual Battlespace for real military training!), and very unforgiving when you make a mistake. It's neat being able to drive/fly for 10+ minutes without getting to an edge of a map.
The environment is very detailed, despite being a couple hundred square kilometers large, and is completely destructible.
The AI is also really good, and there's no limit to how many bots you can have. (besides what your machine is capable of supporting)
I haven't tried using the built-in map editor yet, but I tend to like games that include map editors more than ones that don't. I've been looking for a good game for the PC, and this is definitively it.
Also, it was only $30? Usually a COD update is $60!
Cons: The interface is difficult to learn at first, I think every key on a standard keyboard is used for something.
You'll need a powerful machine to run this game, even with medium graphics settings.
The in-game voices are pretty bad, being that they're several unrelated sound-bytes put together. (but they're are also very entertaining)
Overall Review: I can't stand COD/BF because the maps are always small (and usually symmetrical), and it's not fun when you can shoot a player with a full clip of ammo, then they hide behind a wall for a couple seconds and are at 100% health again. (And the 8-year old kids screaming at you always makes it worse)
This game's maps are huge, and being hit once will kill or injure you. This game will require teamwork to win in multiplayer. If you like COD, you will probably hate this game, since it's a slower paced and team-based game.
Pros: The on-board video chip works well (plays fallout 3 with only a minor framerate loss)
The bios is good for overclocking
Boots fast with an old wd raptor running through a controller card on the pci slot
Everything stays cool, it refuses to go over 50C
Cons: It looks like this board has a high failure rate (I had to RMA mine to newegg once), but its features/price make the board worth the investment.
I haven't found the 'easy oc' switch useful, when you could just change bios settings
I didn't do my research on the am3+ socket; now i'll have to replace this board if i want to upgrade to the bulldozer =(
Overall Review: Here's my build (at least the stuff i got from newegg):
MSI NF750-G55 AM3 NVIDIA nForce 750a SLI HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard
OCZ ModXStream Pro 700W Modular High Performance Power Supply
AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition Deneb 3.4GHz
XIGMATEK LOKI SD963 92mm HYPRO Bearing CPU Cooler bracket included I7 i5 775 1155 AMD and dual fan push pull compatible
2x: G.SKILL Value Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666)
Western Digital Caviar Black WD1001FALS 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive
2x: LITE-ON 24X DVD Writer - Bulk - Black SATA Model iHAS224-06 LightScribe Support - OEM
LITE-ON Black 12X Blu-ray Burner with Blu-ray 3D feature SATA IHBS112-29 - OEM
Linkworld 313-06-C2228 Black/ Silver Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case
I think all motherboards should have at least a basic video chip built in, so the system is at least usable without a discrete video card.
Pros: Stores flash drives/thermal paste/anything!
Looks like a blank 5.25in slot
Cons: It's a bit tough to install, and sometimes the screws jam the drawer(as the screws go through the plastic sides)
Overall Review: If they made a completely metal one, it'd be perfect!
Who would ever think of looking in the computer for hidden stuff???
I'll be putting one of these in every pc I make from now on =D
Pros: I bought this for the sole purpose of backing up BIOS settings for my MSI NF750-G55, and it works perfectly!
Retractable connector is pretty cool
Pros: 4gb of free storage =D
Overall Review: Newegg gave me this when I bought the Gskill value series ram. I took my old 4gb hp flashdrive, and sacrificed it to readyboost(and it helps alot!).
That sucks for the N/A that had this sent separately, and had to pay for shipping; Newegg should have an availability checking thing for each warehouse, so you could see if something would have to be shipped separately.
Pros: 700W, (I haven't added a GPU card yet though =( )
The AC socket didn't get ripped out with the cord this time =D
Modular is a must/plus since I had everything in a pretty small case (linkworld ninja 2)
Overall Review: I bought a raidmax PSU to try to get a cheap 700+W PSU. It first fried my mobo/cpu/ram, and then the AC socket came out of the PSU with the cord when I tried to remove it (the first time). Newegg made the RMA process easy, and I was able to replace my mobo/cpu, and get the raidmax thing refunded.
Even though this won't add anything neat to your pc (like a drawer in a 5.25in slot), spend the extra cash on a good PSU!
Pros: I only paid $50 for it (not shellshocker/other deal)
Added it to a MSI NF750-G55, and they worked immediately
Pretty fast when using it with a RAM disk
The black PCB looks cool
Overall Review: I replaced 4 OCZ 2GB modules with these. The old modules ran at 1.9V (whaaaa?). Now I use alot less energy, and still have the same amount of RAM (with two slots to add more!)
I installed the free version of RAMdisk, and with the programmable keys on the logitech k750, I now have a Halo button! =D
Pros: FTP server works well (~500KB/s per file & 2-3 files at a time over the internet)
Works with an old WD caviler black 1TB drive I found
Also works as a print server with a 9 year old HP deskjet 5400 printer
Has a sleep mode for the hdd so it doesn't burn up
Cons: It won't work as an NAS and an enclosure at the same time (maybe I'm doing it wrong)
Overall Review: I saw some other NASes in the nas section for ~$100 more, and this one has more features than those!
Newegg, move this to the NAS section please!
Pros: Nice wireless speed, even when using the LAN for large file transfers
I got 5 bars for wireless through two walls!
Good security features
The price is right for what it is
Overall Review: I still need to see how this router works when running a game & file server through it
Pros: Solar powered = no replacing batteries!
Very light, good for my desktop that I have to move alot.
FN keys can be reprogrammed with a downloaded app. I now have a 'play halo' button.
Cons: The solar cells are so efficient, I'm nervous that the battery will overcharge!
Overall Review: Some people say that the board's keys aren't laid out well, it just takes getting used to, like any new keyboard...
Cons: When I tried to remove the AC cord, the socket came out with it! I'm gonna RMA this thing ASAP
Pros: Uses my old 160gb IDE drive
The bag is well made
Only needs 1 usb connector in to work
Cons: The drive/controller card slides into the enclosure with repeated plug/unplugs
Overall Review: I now use this enclosure instead of my 500gb wd passport, because I don't have to worry about it trying to run 'wd smartware'
The bag for it is nice
You'll only need to have 1 usb connector in for it to work
Cons: Nothing supports the drive when it's in the enclosure
Pros: The 4 5.25in, and 2 3.5in slots are nice. I'm gonna add one of those 5.25in drawers in the case acc. section to the 4th slot.
The blue LEDs on the front are neat.
The mobo is placed on the inner panel, which allows you to take both side panels off without having to remove the board.
Cons: Sides are a bit flimsy
Didn't have an 80mm fan on the back (but I got one with blue LEDs =D)
Overall Review: This case is really good for its price. I didn't want to spend $60+ on a case!
Pros: This is so fast, after switching from another processor that ran @2.66Ghz
Very good price/power ratio (I'm not paying $200+ to call it a Intel processor)
I can't get this up to 100% usage, even when playing a game without a video card!
Cons: You'll need a big heat sink to cool it
Overall Review: I got this with a mobo combo deal for $130!
Pros: It has a laser pointer, which are always fun.
Cons: The pen is dried out (just replace the ink, not a problem). It comes with 'button cell' batteries, which are really small. Where could I get these types of batteries?
Overall Review: The laser pointer has a little orange disk in it to keep it off during shipping. Remove it, and it'll work. (I spent a 10 minutes trying to figure out why it didn't work)
Pros: It fits in my extra 3.5in slot, and gives an accurate temperature reading. It has two probes to monitor CPU and HDD temps. It also looks good with my black case.
Cons: The box it came in was a bit flimsy. Also, changing whether to use Celsius or Fahrenheit after installing is difficult, cause the switch is on the back. The tape for the probes seems to be cheaply made (it's tape, who cares?).
Overall Review: It comes with a black and white/sliverish stickers to add to the front (make sure to it on before adding the sticker so you know if the screen is right side up). It also comes with two mounting bars for the 3.5in slot which aren't shown here.
Pros: It keeps my wood floor from being scratched, and the handle let's me carry it everywhere easily.
Cons: The plastic package it was is was open at some parts. (But it just gets throw away anyway!)
Pros: The price is ok for 4 internal sata ports
Cons: Only 4 of the 6 ports can be used, and it's adjusted by jumpers. (does anyone know how to use jumpers?)
Overall Review: Supports raid, but I ended up not using that feature. If you need a card for sata ports, buy this card now =)
Pros: Very quiet, reduced my temp by ~4C compared to my old fan
Cons: My old fan had a speed control built in, this one doesn't. (not a big deal though)
Pros: The discs have a nice label after burning
Comes with cases which can take a front insert (all for $8!)
Overall Review: I used these discs to sell copies of some games I made =)
Pros: Adjustable UI, dual monitor support
Land, naval, and air forces can be used (and one faction even gets a satellite!)
Large maps that expand as you complete objectives
Epic battles (up to 1000 units per player!)
Cons: You'll need a fast machine to play
Symmetrical multiplayer maps are boring
You'll only be able to play as the new forth faction in multiplayer, unless you also get the original
Overall Review: I had the original for the xbox, and burned the cd by playing it too much (lol!). This is so much better on the pc. If you like REAL strategy games (not the dumbed down **** like C&C from ea), you HAVE to buy this game! =D
Cons: I ordered eggs, but all I got was the carton! =(
Overall Review: The carton is really nice though, it's not the cheap styrofoam ones you usually get. It's almost worth the $41.11 + $0.00 shipping... =)
