How could it be better?

SYSONIC HDA10/B HDMI (M) – DVI (F) Adapter
SYSONIC HDA10/B HDMI (M) – DVI (F) Adapter

Pros: I've seen dirt sell for more, and I've seen solid gold statues do less. What this is is a fine adapter that works perfectly for a very small price, just the way an adapter should be. If you've got a DVI cable and need to connect one end to an hdmi port, this cable WILL work so long as the rest of your hardware is compatible. So long as you already know you won't get sound out of it, you'll be fine.

Cons: The stark white color clashes with my new shoes.

Overall Review: I actually ordered this adapter by mistake. I got the male and female ends mixed up (what can I say, I'm still inexperienced. XD). Fortunately, thanks to my outrageously large collection of cables, I was able to work with it and not have to buy the hdmi(F) - dvi(M) counterpart.

Most Critical Review

"CoolMax"

COOLMAX CS-460-Black W/O PSU Black Aluminum / Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case
COOLMAX CS-460-Black W/O PSU Black Aluminum / Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: It "looks" nice. It's got the room for two 12cm fans, it's got the cd bezels, it covers up the floppys, it's cheap, it's got a funky design.

Cons: It sliced "half" of my finger off when I pushed one of the back slot covers out! It really hurt! But I'm not taking pain into account here. It's *much* flimsier and wobbly than my old, ugly case. to open it up, you have to take the top and both sides up. The bezels prevent my cd/dvd drives from closing unless I push the bezel door down with my hand. It's *very* flimsy, and bends like madness. The front usb is right at the bottom of the case, and difficult to use if you have your case on the floor.

Overall Review: I needed a black case to match the rest of my system, and it does the job. It looks nice, but feels a bit... nasty. For the price i paid, it's nice enough. If I was putting a nice system into this, I'd spend the extra dough for a solid case, though. If you're looking in this price range, I'd definitely reccommend it.

Fantastic

Polk Audio DSW Micro Pro 2000 8" Powered Subwoofer Single
Polk Audio DSW Micro Pro 2000 8" Powered Subwoofer Single

Pros: Perfect size for my apartment. I only had enough space in 1 location to put it, and fortunately it sounds great from there. This thing can produce some ridiculous sound. It's really fun seeing the woofer bounce around like crazy when I give it some really loud bass to play. I looked at this when it went on sale, and I happened to have a newegg gift-certificate on hand, so I got it for a smooth $250 out of pocket. I've got a feeling this is going to last me a long time. (And if it doesn't, hey, it's got a 5-year warranty! :D )

Cons: The remote control is handy, but has a ridiculously short range. Hopefully I'll be able to jerry-rig my universal remote to work with it.

Overall Review: My place is pretty small (~550 sq ft), and this fills up the entire area with bass. I've just gotta be careful not too have too much fun with it (so as not to wake up the neighbors).

Makes me drool

YAMAHA RX-V667BL 7.2-Channel Receiver
YAMAHA RX-V667BL 7.2-Channel Receiver

Pros: Now, I'm no audioholic, but I love a good AV receiver that can pump out high-quality music to some high-quality speakers. How the audio quality compares with other AV-receivers, I'm not really qualified to say, but I've studied up a bit on this... What makes this receiver stand out from a lot of other mid-range models is that it provides discrete amplifiers for each channel, which means less distortion, better quality. The auto-setup feature is awesome, and this provides a true "one-cable installation" for your TV. Meaning, it needs only 1 hdmi cable going to your TV, and converts every other input to go through this one cable. It also supports the new "audio return channel", which most TVs don't support yet, but it allows the TV to send audio *back* to the receiver so that no matter where the audio comes from, it'll get pumped out through your awesome sound system.

Cons: The promotional gift card offered with this is sweet, and gave me the excuse to buy a really nice subwoofer (also off Newegg). Although, the current gift card offers slightly more than the one I got. :'(

Overall Review: It supports bi-amp outputs for the front 2 speakers! Lucky me, I happened to have a set of bi-amp speakers without even knowing this receiver supported it. All-in-all, I highly recommend this receiver. It's a beast.

I LOVE cheap hdmi cables!

Rosewill 6-Foot High Speed HDMI Cable (RC-6-HDM-MM-BK)
Rosewill 6-Foot High Speed HDMI Cable (RC-6-HDM-MM-BK)

Pros: It's inexpensive, and it works. It came with free shipping, and easily beats the price of store-brands, and easily matches their quality. With digital connectors like this, it either works or it doesn't. There is absolutely no need for a "high-end" cable unless you need the signal to travel very long distances ( +25 feet )

Cons: Doesn't have the locking connection type, which is very nice if your hardware supports it. HDMI cables can fall out of socket fairly easily. Of course, at this price, who really cares?

Works just fine

Nippon Labs PT-12 12 FT. Pro A/V Premium Toslink Digital Optical SPDIF Audio Cable Male to Male, Black
Nippon Labs PT-12 12 FT. Pro A/V Premium Toslink Digital Optical SPDIF Audio Cable Male to Male, Black

Pros: I was looking for an inexpensive optical audio cable to hook my PC up to my AV receiver, and as fate would have it, this product just so happens to be an inexpensive optical audio cable!

Cons: Cable falls out of socket quite easily, though it could very well be the case that all optical cables are designed like this.

Overall Review: Don't you dare buy anything more expensive than this. It works, and with digital connections, it's impossible to do any better than that.
