An all-around great phone!
Pros: The Nokia E71 is a solid, good looking, sleek, and comfortable phone. It does everything in a snap. Battery life is astonishing. I have been using 3/3.5G (AT&T USA) and WiFi browsing the web and retrieving e-mails, as well as making calls and text messaging. I'm a very heavy phone user and this phone puts up with it. I am going on 24 hours since its first charge and the battery is still half full. This is by far outdoing all of my previous phones including a Nokia N series and a Samsung Blackjack II. This phone is incredibly thin and very comfortable to carry and use. Call quality, signal, call loudness (speaker phone and regular up-to-the-ear speaker), screen brightness are all excellent. This phone is insanely thin and easy to carry.
Cons: Camera is not so good. Native e-mail app seems to have issues with large inboxes (2000+ messages). Gmail said I'd never have to delete a message, I might have to now, although, Nokia is releasing a new APP for e-mail which looks promising. Keyboard is not quite qwerty, keys are lined up a bit different. For instance the Z is directly beneath the A. It took me half a day to get use to that. USB plug cover doesn't seem tight enough, although it hasn't opened spontaneously yet. USB transfers are slow.
Overall Review: For anybody considering a new smartphone, I would strongly suggest this phone, both as a technology enthusiast and a heavy phone user. It has everything you need in a small, solid package. I tried to list as many cons as I could to give readers a good feel for this phone before they buy, but honestly, those cons are so negligible. Any E71 user here will probably agree with me on that. I ordered an 8GB SDHC card with mine which came with an SDHC USB card reader. It works great and I don't use the USB cord for the phone unless I'm upgrading the firmware. I haven't upgraded the firmware yet because my E71 came with the latest US firmware.
