Great.. but DOA?

Pros: Bought this for a MacbookPro 2.2ghz.. Works like a top - - now I've got 6gb total in my system! Actually. I bought 3 of them, for myself and clients.
Cons: 1. the packaging sucks. difficult to open. I know wer'e paranoid, but this takes paranoia to a new level.. 2. 1 of my 3 pcs arrived DOA. Now I know that's not a reflection on the distributor.. but come on.. 1/3 of my $150 products arrive DOA?? It's not just Crucial.. I bought 110 pc of 1gb Kingston SODIMM's last week. 11 bad... brand new, sealed, and DOA...
Overall Review: perhaps we the consumers are the new Product Quality Assurance Division???
Incredible speed boost

Pros: An exceptional speed boost for the average user. The drive "learns" what you access most, and caches it to the NAND flash. So performance gets a massive boost with this technology. We use these for HUNDREDS of repairs for clients, and have been very pleased with them.
Cons: the 5400rpm speed is the biggest bottle-neck in terms of performance.. While the unit is GREAT for certain 'instant" processes (like booting or opening an app, it takes A LONG LONG time to copy large data files to/from this drive.
Overall Review: To get the most out of this drive, install it, then do a fresh OS on your system (even if you're on a Mac, trust me and do a fresh OS). Then defrag your new drive. THEN reboot your machine, repeatedly.. 4 or 5 times. Believe me, it'll make a difference.. the drive has to learn what you're doing most, then it'll cache the correct stuff.. We use these drives so much we buy in bulk. they're great.. Not perfect, but good.. Personally, I use a straight SSD for my laptop, but have an SSHD (the 3.5" version of this drive) in my desktop.. a touch slower than my laptop, but it's bearable...
speed demon

Pros: fast. very fast thin Did I mention it's fast?
Cons: it's not free...
Overall Review: This thing rocks! stupid fast transfers. I've built plenty of fast/powerful laptops.. this is a game changer. I went to it from a SataII SSD 1tb drive (otherworld computing) which was $1100, and only ran at 3gb... At half the price, it offers STUNNING performance improvement. It is a real game-changer for folks who are considering SSD for daily work use. Boot time from power-on until I am able to work is around 10~11 seconds. Apps boot in 1-2 seconds. changes are instant. battery life is better. There is no downside.. If you need a 500gb+ laptop drive, there is no other choice.. THIS is it. I've installed and set up thousands of laptops for my business. I can't think of a drive I'd better recommend.
