The only mechanical keyboard for me

RAZER BlackWidow Ultimate Battlefield 3 Edition Black USB Wired Gaming Keyboard
RAZER BlackWidow Ultimate Battlefield 3 Edition Black USB Wired Gaming Keyboard

Pros: Amber backlit keys Cherry MX Blue switches Audio/USB side ports Full-size layout OPEN BOX purchase for $80.

Cons: Macro keys too close to Tab/Caps lock/Shift keys. Surface angled even when laid flat. Plastic casing seems on the fragile side. Price. $140---really?

Overall Review: I really like this keyboard after breaking it in for a couple weeks. Blue switches are more comfortable for typing long periods than black switches. My favorite feature is the Amber/Red lights rather than the common Blue leds. Blue basically blinds me. Amber lights allow you to see the keys when you need to, but do not distract my eyes from the screen like blue and green. A prefer a flat keyboard, and the one knock I have on this one is the fact that the keyboard actually has an angled surface even without the feet extended. I'll live, but it is worth noting. It is similar to a laptop keyboard with feet up from my experience. I cannot recommend it for full price, because no keyboard needs to cost that much unless it is military grade or performs some special function. If you can luck up on a sale or an open box like me, then grab it. I don't think you will be disappointed.

Great Performance at Great Price

CM Storm Spawn - 3500 DPI Optical Gaming Mouse with Durable Omron Microswitches
CM Storm Spawn - 3500 DPI Optical Gaming Mouse with Durable Omron Microswitches

Pros: Quality construction Rubber Buttons and Scroll Wheel Very Smooth Tracking Attractive Finish Low Price point to comparable mice

Cons: Only works for claw grip. That's the only problem. Normally, I can get away with palming claw grip mice since I have small/medium hands. Replaced MX510 that was bigger than I needed, but comfortable nonetheless. This mouse is absolutely perfect design for a claw grip. I just can't claw grip for long periods. It makes my hand very sore. My problem, not the mouse.

Overall Review: This mouse has such a natural feel when using claw grip. If that's your grip style, then just get this mouse. Seriously. It has a great finish that sort of feels like velour. Hard to describe, but it's much nicer than slick or rubber finish. Cooler Master really did an excellent job with the design. Has one of the best sensors on the market too. I am sad that I can't use it more, but I have to be able to palm grip.

Overall very satisfied

HIS IceQ Radeon HD 6870 1GB GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 CrossFireX Support Video Card H687Q1G2M
HIS IceQ Radeon HD 6870 1GB GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 CrossFireX Support Video Card H687Q1G2M

Pros: I think this is a good quality card overall. It has been running perfectly fine these past two weeks. It overclocks well though I have no need for it right now. I just wanted to test the limits. I achieved 30% overclock with no problem.

Cons: The card is kind of ugly with the plastic housing. The fan is a little louder than I would like even at 40%. It added noticeable noise to my rather quiet case. Not the end of the world. I do realize I was upgrading from a much smaller card that required less cooling (Powercolor 4830). In games, the fan stays 50% or below most of the time. This is a pro to me. Haven't seen temps exceed 70C in BF3 MW3 or SWTOR. The card's cooling seems to be good quality.

Overall Review: I think this is a good card when it is on sale. I got it when the price was $169 with a 20MIR. At $150 out the door, I think it is a good purchse. There are several other brands that are equal or better than this one in it's price bracket. Just get whichever is cheaper. They are all good quality. And until something changes with the 12.XX drivers, just stick with the 8.93 Nov. 18 catalyst drivers. They are still the best performing and stable of the lot. Cheers. Love this board!

ASRock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3 LGA 1155 Intel Z68 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: I already knew this was a great board before purchasing it as the base for my new build. It hasn't disappointed. For the price, I don't think you can beat it for a budget build. What I like about the board specifically: --Z68 chipset support Ivy bridge (some future proofing) --USB port power when PC is shut down for charging Phones, Ipod, etc --Crossfire/SLI ready PCI-E 3.0 support (more future proofing) --USB 3.0 (future proofing) --Excellent OC capability --Stable and easy to use BIOS --7.1 THX onboard sound

Cons: I don't really have any cons yet. If some arise, I will update.

Overall Review: As of now, it has been bliss using this board to OC my i5 2500K to 4.5GHz. It didn't even break a sweat. This mobo paired with my old Corsair 520HX has very little Vdroop, unlike my old Gigabyte P45 board which always bugged me. The spacing between the two PCI-E ports is ample. I will have no problem adding another monster HIS 6870 or similar. They will have plenty of room for cooling. Great board. Just buy it before they realize the price should be higher.

Enough for CPU and GPU

Prolimatech PRO-PK1-1G PK-1 Thermal Compound - 1 Gram
Prolimatech PRO-PK1-1G PK-1 Thermal Compound - 1 Gram

Pros: I only do single builds for myself these days, so I am tired of having to add $12-15 to my order just because most of the brands aren't offered in OEM type packaging like this PK1. 2g is plenty for one or two builds. PK1 is one of the best if not the best thermal compounds out. The performance difference between the top 10 thermal pastes is so negligible these days. Save a few bucks and grab this for a single build. No need to worry.

Cons: Not really a con since this is OEM packaging but.... Be sure to cut the opening with a razor or scissors to keep it nice and small. 1/16"opening is all you need. This way you can apply pressure to get that perfectly thin bead of paste coming out. It will save you from making a mess.

Overall Review: When I read negative reviews about this and similar compounds, it is usually apparent that user error is to blame. This paste is great. If you aren't sure how to apply it to YOUR CPU, take 2 minutes to G O O G L E "your cpu name" + thermal paste application before getting started. It will save you a lot of headache. I am running my i5 at a 1GHz overclock and it idles in the mid 30's and 47-52C under load using PK1. The product is good. Save a few bucks and just but the 2G if you are doing a single build. Add the $10 you save to getting a better Heatsink or something. My setup: i5 2500K Asrock Extreme 3 Gen 3 Z68 Mobo G. Best sound for your dollar

Polk Audio RM6750 Black 5.1 CH Home Theater Speaker System
Polk Audio RM6750 Black 5.1 CH Home Theater Speaker System

Pros: Crisp, rich sound. Very low distortion. Solid construction. Polk Audio has some of the best customer service I have dealt with over the past 15 years. I am by no means an audiophile. I needed good sound on a working man's budget as I have a family. I bought this for the family home theater we use to watch movies together. I expected these speakers to be awesome based on the Egg reviews and you can believe the hype. In an 18X22 living room with 9' ceiling, the RM6750 fills the room with amazing sound. DO NOT BUY ANY OTHER SPEAKER SYSTEM WITHIN $200 of these. I listened to Klipsch, Yamaha, Sony, Onkyo etc.; all the most common speaker systems in the under $500, and then I ordered these sound unheard. The RM6750's sound as good as the Klipsch 500 in my honest opinion. I am running my 6750's on a 500W 5.1 receiver and am very happy with the results.

Cons: There really aren't any cons at this price point. Heck I can spend less than $100 and add 2 satellites for 7.1 down the road. Just buy them....seriously. I can't imagine anyone being disappointed with these for under $220.

Overall Review: Invest in some solid stands and wall mounts for these. The satellites are ported for better midrange and you want articulating wall mounts that can set them off 6" if you have the room for it. It makes a difference. I purchased some mounts that only offset 3" and the reflection was noticeable. I replaced with the Omnimount 10.0 and used the ceiling arm and now the front satellites sound so much better. Amazing what a little extra distance from the wall makes.
