Pros: Works fine, does what I need and it's cheap. Vista recognized it and loaded drivers and it reads and writes like a champ. It's a lot better than my picky old Sony burner that had to be flashed twice and could only use certain drivers and certain media yet still seemed to ruin every third disc or so.
This drive is simple and efficient, just plug it in and go.
Cons: Noisy, tray feels loose and flimsy when ejected.
Barely any packing material was used, it was just tossed into a big box loosely with the rest of my order and left to rattle around. I realize it's OEM but can't you at least spare some newspaper or something?
Overall Review: Aside from the poor packaging job I'm happy with it.
Pros: Thanks to the posters below for mentioning that this is intended for a RAID setup. I had intended to use it by itself, but it was easy enough to turn TLER off and it is working fine so far. I installed Vista with no problems, and I'm in the process of loading it with data and it's doing fine. There were no bad sectors, it has a fast read/write speed and it's fairly quiet.
Time will be the real judge of the quality but so far I am very pleased with it, for being one of the cheapest drives on sale it is performing nicely.
Cons: None really... It's a little noisy, but still quieter than my old 1.5 Gbit/s WD drive.
No cables/documentation/jumper/etc., but I was aware of this beforehand, not a problem.
Overall Review: Assuming this drive will last for a while, I would definitely buy it again.
Pros: This thing is almost silent, much quieter than my old Antec Smartpower 2.0 500w, and runs a lot cooler as well. Plenty of power for my 4870 x2 gpu and all my drives, etc. Probably overkill for my system, but at this price plus the rebate, it's a smokin' deal I couldn't pass up.
Cons: I rated it only 4/5 because there was something loose and rattling around inside, a small plastic shield that had come unglued. I managed to remove it through the vent with tweezers... the psu works fine without it and I really didn't want to wait to RMA it, just frustrating when parts fall out of a brand new purchase.
Overall Review: So many wires... I was aware of this before ordering but it still surprised me just how many there were, way more leads than I needed. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but I kind of wish I had spent a little more for a modular psu.
Pros: Hi-def widescreen with good picture quality at a fantastic price. No dead pixels, colors and contrast look great, this is a nice improvement over my old 17" Sony LCD which cost over $400 and wasn't even hi-def.
Cons: Like others have mentioned, mine bleeds a little bit of light around the edges. It's only noticeable when the screen is dark, it's really not a big deal. The speakers suck but I didn't plan on using them anyway. A swivel would've been nice, the rubber feet sick to my desk making it hard to pivot, but for the awesome price this is really just nitpicking.
Overall Review: I have limited experience with Asus, I bought a M3a78-t mobo and this monitor, but both seem to be very high quality products and I feel like I stole them at these prices... I will definitely be buying this brand again.
Pros: Everything worked out of the box. It recognized Phenom II 940 BE and 8 GB Crucial Ballistix pc2 6400 memory right off the bat. BIOS update utility worked like a charm, updated via cd-rom from within the BIOS without a hitch.
Seems to be plenty of overclocking options for the CPU, chipset and memory, plenty for an amateur like me to play with, anyway.
Cons: None so far.
Overall Review: Would liked to have gotten a 790 FX chipset model but this was in a killer combo deal with the processor and a 4870 x2, I would happily trade the savings on the mobo toward a better gpu. This board has all I need and more at a great price, I would definitely recommend it.
Pros: Bought this for my first ground-up pc build and it sure made life easy. Slide-out mobo tray is cool, psu installs from the back, thumbscrews everywhere, the brushed finish looks killer, it's a solid, well-designed case. I did not expect such high quality at such a low price.
Cons: The side panels rattled a little bit until I added some rubber pads to the sides of my dvd drives. Easy fix, but better-fitting side panels or vibration dampeners in the drive bays would be nice.
Case runs a little warmer than I'd like inside, but I'm using a hotter-than-average graphics card and haven't made any fan speed adjustments yet.
Overall Review: Just FYI: PCP&C 750 watt psu barely fit in this case, at 7" long it's touching the top fan but it works. Also a Sapphire 4870 X2 was a tight squeeze, at 10 5/8" it's less than 1/8" from touching the internal HDD bay. For longer cards you'd have to remove the bay and use the external slots.
