Crucial 4GB 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3L 1600 (PC3L 12800) Laptop Memory Model CT51264BF160BJ

Pros: Works like a champ in my Mac Mini 2012.

Cons: None

Overall Review: The Mac Mini 2012 is one of the few Apple products that is user friendly for upgrades. Replaced one of the memory modules in just a minute.

Most Critical Review

Monitor died after 2 months

Wasabi Mango QHD275 SUPREME 27" Monitor - 2560x1440 LG S-IPS QHD DVI HDMI Display Port
Wasabi Mango QHD275 SUPREME 27" Monitor - 2560x1440 LG S-IPS QHD DVI HDMI Display Port

Pros: The image quality is quite good, decent color rendition, and it was relatively inexpensive.

Cons: As others have mentioned, the stand and bezel are made of cheap plastic which actually doesn't bother me much. The screen is matte finish, not glossy which is what I thought this model was. The control buttons are kinda cheap. The vga connector is placed right above the neck of the stand, making for a difficult connection.

Overall Review: The monitor from day one did not act properly to sleep or to button presses all that well. When my computer went to sleep, the backlight remained on, using the DisplayPort. The monitor just locked up and died yesterday. The power brick light was on but did not react to the computer's wake up. I pressed the power button a few times, long, short, no matter. The blue/red light did not light up. I unplugged/plugged the supply, no difference. I realize the switching power supply in these are simple designs to keep costs down but apparently not robust. I recall after a month of use, that the backlight supply would make weird sounds, then it went away. I didn't think anything of it. A month later, just did not power back up. The other thing: I bought this model thinking it was a glossy screen. I looked on the Korean website and it said 'Glossy' but after reviewing the page, I think they are referring to the frame/bezel. Very misleading, why would anyone care that the outer bezel is matte vs glossy. And if you are shipping to the North American market, why can't they simply put the proper AC cord in the box. It's not that hard.

Works great! UPDATE(2016/Jan): Drive just died, click click click

WD My Passport Edge for Mac 500GB 2.5" USB 3.0 Portable Hard Drive Model WDBJBH5000ABK
WD My Passport Edge for Mac 500GB 2.5" USB 3.0 Portable Hard Drive Model WDBJBH5000ABK

Pros: Silent, low power, reliable (so far). The small form factor and self-powered aspects are pluses as well.

Cons: None. Update(2016/Jan): I used it a few times (maybe 4) and had it unplugged sitting on my desk. I used it just now for another Time Machine backup and it started to act weird. It would unmount spontaneously. Then after unplugging and plugging back in the USB port to power cycle, it just clicks now and no longer mounts!! This is unbelievable.

Overall Review: I use this drive to provide Time Machine backups for the 3 Macs in the house. Two of my Macs have USB2 ports, so these ports dominate the write speeds to the disk. Even though the TM backups took 20 or 30 min each, these were the first time backups which amounted to 60-90GB. Incremental backups will be much quicker. Pretty good drive, prefer WD over Seagate. And the price was right. :o) Update(2016/Jan) As I stated in the cons section, it started to act up when running TM. TM first calculated a backup size of 10GB, then after it auto-unmounted and plugging back in, the second time TM calculated 110GB for the backup. Strange. Then unmounted and clicking proceeded. This is the 2nd Western Digital HD that has failed on me, and I dont even use them very much. Ridiculous.
