Good cpu for the price.

AMD Athlon II X2 240 - Athlon II X2 Regor Dual-Core 2.8 GHz Socket AM3 65W Processor - ADX240OCGQBOX

Pros: Fairly fast AM3 DDr3 support 45nm 2MB l2 cache, as apposed to the last generation with 1MB Stock cooler is good enough for this chip

Cons: None for now

Overall Review: Very fast for what you get. Boots vista in less than 20 seconds from power button to desktop. Runs very cool, idles at 22C, 38C max load. Ambient temp 20C. If you are looking for a good budget AM3 chip, this is it. Vista feels much quicker than my old e6750 DDR2 system it replaced. Pioneer CD/DVD Burner 20X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 12X DVD+R DL 20X DVD-R 6X DVD-RW 40X CD-R 32X CD-RW Black IDE Model DVR-117DBK

Pros: For the 12 Discs it burned, it was great. I thought this would be an upgrade from my lite-on drive, it was quieter, thats about it.

Cons: Burned a disc last night, today went to burn another and it failed at 12%. Tried again with another disc. Same problem. Tried with a higher quality disc, same problem. So it cost me about $4 a successful burn and now i have to get another burner.

Overall Review: Dont waste your money. I'm going to reinstall my Lite-on drive. It has worked flawlessly for 2 years, and i will probably get another 2 years out of it.

Good Processor

Intel Celeron G1610 - Celeron Ivy Bridge Dual-Core 2.6 GHz LGA 1155 55W Desktop Processor - BX80637G1610

Pros: Cheap processor for a media center PC. IGP is good enough for full 1080 blu-rays. Runs cool, included fan is quiet for the load I put on it.

Cons: None

Overall Review: Bought this for use in an OpenELEC media PC. Playing full bitrate blu rays with no stuttering, CPU usage around 10%. Worth the $50. This CPU H77N-WiFi 4GB DDR3 32GB SSD 300W SFX PSU Silverstone milo ML05-B OpenELEC Boots media center in 5 seconds.

Worth the price of admission

Crucial M4 2.5" 64GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) CT064M4SSD2

Pros: Extremely fast. Power button to desktop is less than 30 seconds. Installing and running programs is insane. My computer waits for me now, I don't have to wait for it. Got it when it was on sale for a killer price. One of the fastest and most reliable SSDs for $1/GB? Sign me up!

Cons: Might be a little small for some people. After optimizing windows and installing all updates I still have 45GB of free space, plenty for any programs I would ever use on this PC.

Overall Review: Purchased this for my ASUS N50Vn to replace the stock slow 320GB 5400RPM Hitachi drive. Plenty of space for my needs. Breathed some new life into my nearly 4 year old laptop. Core 2 Duo p8600 4GB ram Crucial m4 64GB 9650MGT WEI for this drive is 7.7, on a SATA2 interface. I have the 128GB model in my desktop, it gets a 7.9 because my motherboard has native SATA3. This drive goes on sale all the time, keep an eye out on it. Check everyday.

Good Choice

GIGABYTE GA-990XA-UD3 AM3+ AMD 990X + SB950 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard

Pros: SLI and Crossfire support on an AMD chipset Bulldozer support Affordable Decent slot layout on/off charge is great, I can charge my phone/ipod without the PC being on I cant comment on the onboard LAN and audio as I use dedicated cards. If you want a cheap and effective network upgrade, get an intel nic for around $30. Lowered my ping by 15ms and reduced my jitter to nothing.

Cons: None right now, new bios already out, so dont forget to update that when you buy this.

Overall Review: CPU-Z reports the Southbridge as the SB850, from last year. It may be a bug in the software since this is a very new board. Will wait for an updated program before I get upset about false advertising. AMD 955 8GB corsair Vengeance 4870 128GB Crucial M4 SSD

AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition - Phenom II X4 Deneb Quad-Core 3.2 GHz Socket AM3 125W Processor - HDZ955FBGMBOX

Pros: Fast enough for what I did Got it for $104 after a promo code Plays all my games with ease

Cons: Stock cooler is loud even at idle I can hear it over my case fans, going to invest in a Corsair H60 No other real cons

Overall Review: After using my intel 775 rig for 4 years now I decided to switch to AMD Many reasons, but Ill list a few 1)My 775 motherboard is now dead and I couldn't get a good replacement at an acceptable price 2)Intel performance in my games was pretty varied, I get a much more consistent framerate with this CPU than I did with my Core 2 Quad at 3.0GHz, with the same video card 3)AMD actually offers an upgrade path 4)This CPU was so cheap its pretty much a place holder til bulldozer is released, but its performing great so far This CPU Gigabyte 990xA-UD3 8GB Corsair vengeance DDR3 1600 4870 128GB Crucial M4 SSD
