Great for use with Multiple Monitors!6/8/2016 5:04:27 AM

Pros: We needed to set up an operator station with 5 Monitors for a control system in our plant. The monitors were a mix of VGA, DVI, and HDMI type video connections so we used the pluggable USB 3.0 converters and multi-screen driver software to extend the desktop to all five monitors. This was being drive through one USB 3.0 Port on the small fanless PC and into the Pluggable 7 port USB 3.0 hub. The hub and the Pluggable USB 3.0 video adapters worked flawlessly! We are very happy with this equipment.

Cons: The only con that I can think of is not really a problem with the equipment, but is a configuration issue. I found that on my particular computer, I need to set up the "Base" monitor (the one that natively appears on a computer boot-up) to be plugged into the actual native video port on the computer, and then all of the other "Extended" monitors can be on the USB ports. This gives the computer a monitor to show the boot up process or other information until the USB drivers and Pluggable software drivers get loaded and can start distributing the video signals through the USB ports.

Overall Review: We are now using the Pugable USB 3.0 adapters as standard multi-monitor configuration equipment in our plant. We keep several USB 3.0 to VGA / DVI / HDMI Video Graphics Adapters on hand along with the USB hub, so that we have a "Swiss-Army-Knife" for any possible video/monitor combination that we may need.

Works in an acid plant2/23/2015 4:31:25 AM

Pros: We had this installed in an acid plant sub-station to convert single-mode long range ethernet fiber to Multimode. We are running interlocked control systems over these fibers and the converters must be up 100% of the time. We had a lightning strike in the area and the converter stopped working and we thought that it fried the converter, but when we replaced the little 12vdc power adapter plug, the converter came back online with no troubles. Nice hardy little converter that survived acid fumes and lightning strikes. We are buying more of these for spares.

Cons: You need to protect the little 12vdc power adapter from surges.
