Quirky drive but works well.

TOSHIBA 1TB USB 2.0 / eSATA 3.5" External Hard Drive PH3100U-1EXB Black
TOSHIBA 1TB USB 2.0 / eSATA 3.5" External Hard Drive PH3100U-1EXB Black

Pros: By far the smallest 1 TB external HDD.

Cons: Quirky power-saving option

Overall Review: I bought this drive as a strict back-up for my media files as I do a good bit of HD editing. It's true that it doesn't have a full TB of free space, because it has a non-removable virtual CD drive that it uses for back-up software. But ultimately it doesn't matter much. It does automatically shut off after 5 mins of inactivity, and will need to be restarted with its power button rather than simply double-clicking on it in Windows. But since I use it strictly for back-up purposes, it doesn't matter much either. But no, it doesn't just shut off on its own while you're trying to access a file.

Functional but barebones

Acer 21.5" 60 Hz TN LCD Monitor 5 ms D-Sub, DVI G6 Series G226HQLBbd (UM.WG6AA.B01)
Acer 21.5" 60 Hz TN LCD Monitor 5 ms D-Sub, DVI G6 Series G226HQLBbd (UM.WG6AA.B01)

Pros: Decent color accuracy. Cheap. Light. Low power consumption. Comes with DVI and VGA cables. Short warm-up time (especially compared to some Gateways). Full HD.

Cons: Default brightness and gamma makes everything washed out. Cannot tilt screen, cannot swivel screen, cannot rotate to portrait view.

Overall Review: For the price, it's very decent as a second monitor. It's a shame about the inability to do portrait view though... I might have to rig it up somehow.

Works relatively well

Comments: Disclaimer: Newegg's service was great as always, absolutely no complaints from me. This product should put up a warning that desktop replacement laptops need not apply, because it is entirely way too small. The rubber tips do an adequate job of supporting my Inspiron 9300, but the fan placement is different from where the hottest spots are, which ultimately limits effectiveness. The fan itself is ultra-silent - only on lowest settings. As you put the fan speed on higher, the fan noise becomes noticeably louder, though this is expected. The four USB ports are useful for most laptops, as they tend to come with only 2 to 4 ports. The packaging itself is no frills, minimal instruction. The device itself is easy to hook up and relatively intuitive to use. All in all, the fan cooled my laptop overall by 2 degrees celsius. I haven't yet tested it out during gaming, but it should be more effective as the laptop internal heat builds up due to the GeForce Go 6800 in it. Not a bad product, still a bit pricey at xx for its effectiveness.
