NewEgg/TrippLite won't pay for shipping on DOA

Tripp Lite AVR900U AVR Series 900 VA 480 Watts 12 Outlets Line Interactive UPS for PCs
Tripp Lite AVR900U AVR Series 900 VA 480 Watts 12 Outlets Line Interactive UPS for PCs

Pros: Decent price, decent UPS

Cons: TrippLite ships a lot of defective UPS's overall, and makes you pay for the (very high) shipping costs to replace them. NewEgg now does this with all their products. NewEgg should not be selling products from manufacturers who won't stand behind them.

Complete junk

Tripp Lite SNMP/Web Management Accessory Card, Remote Monitoring & Control of SmartPro or SmartOnline UPS Systems (SNMPWEBCARD)
Tripp Lite SNMP/Web Management Accessory Card, Remote Monitoring & Control of SmartPro or SmartOnline UPS Systems (SNMPWEBCARD)

Pros: Sometimes it works, especially the newer hardware revisions have actually gotten a bit better. I've owned 4 of these SNMP cards throughout the last 4 years, one of them was replaced under warranty twice, so I believe I've gotten to try almost every hardware revision and firmware.

Cons: This card, like all TrippLite hardware and software I've used, is beyond sub-standard. Yes, it works in some cases for some people/situations, but their support is lackluster, their engineering is lackluster, their software is terrible, and their products are lackluster. This item is no exception. Take, for example, the fact that you can't upgrade to the newer firmware versions on multiple older hardware revisions of this SNMP card - obviously they have to keep redesigning the hardware and they have failed to do so properly - multiple times. Their support team will also hassle you about replacing the card after dragging you through countless hours of support - just enough time for the warranty to expire so they don't have to replace the card. I would avoid this company at all costs! The only reason I still have to deal with them at all is the cost of replacing an expensive infrastructure of their products that we've unfortunately already invested in. And, their main competitor, APC, is not a heck of a lot better. I'd suggest a company like CyberPower or another one of the newer competitors, they almost can't be worse.
