Most Favorable Review

Nice, powerful laptop.

ASUS Laptop G53SX-NH71 Intel Core i7 2nd Gen 2670QM (2.20GHz) 8GB Memory 500GB HDD NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560M 15.6" Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit
ASUS Laptop G53SX-NH71 Intel Core i7 2nd Gen 2670QM (2.20GHz) 8GB Memory 500GB HDD NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560M 15.6" Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit

Pros: Pros: *screen size, resolution (1920x1080), brightness *back-lit keys (that you can adjust the brightness of or turn off completely!) *soft hand rest (rubberized), keyboard isn't too "chicky" feeling or sounding *fast for games with the 560GTX 2gb vram (Skyrim, Starcraft 2, Bad Company 2 all run 45+ FPS on High settings) *nice touchpad (though I don't use it much) *good ram amount and hard drive space *CPU speed chews through anything I throw at it *Good wireless speeds and connectivity (connect to a Cisco E4200)

Cons: Cons: keyboard seems to need a little more pressure to register a keypress than I'm used to. It's no big deal and I am not having much issue with it after using it for a couple of days. I guess they figure gamers will bang the keyboard, but I don't beat my keyboard too much. I don't like the position of the USB ports on this model. They are forward on the left and right sides. If you plug something in the right side, it can possibly get in the way of mouse use. Honestly though I haven't really had this issue. As I write this, I have 3 things going out the right side, and none are interfering with my mousepad/mouse placement (I'm using a larger mouse too, the Razer DeathAdder BE). These cons are minor, with the keyboard (lack of) sensitivity being the most annoying con. None of them are deal-breakers to me though.

Overall Review: I got this to replace my desktop that had a 4 core AMD chip, 4gb RAM, and a 460GTX with 768 vRAM. I game, so I needed a powerful replacement. So far I'm really happy with the replacement. I have all I need and more in a smaller portable package. The 15" screen combined with the 1920x1080 resolution really makes up for it's size. I have more 'room' on this 15" screen than I did my 22" desktop screen simply because the resolution is so high. Also since I sit close to it (since it's a laptop) the 15" screen is not an issue. I thought it would be and almost got a 17" model. I'm happy with the 15". If you don't like smaller font though, you might want to look into the 17" model. I looked at a lot of reviews on this laptop an eventually decided on it. I checked out a lot of other brands too, read reviews, etc. As long as it holds up reliably, I'll keep being very happy with it and feel I made the right choice for the money.

Most Critical Review

Good drive while it lasted.

Patriot Xporter XT Boost 8GB Flash Drive (USB 2.0 Portable) Model PEF8GUSB
Patriot Xporter XT Boost 8GB Flash Drive (USB 2.0 Portable) Model PEF8GUSB

Pros: Nice drive. Well protected with a rubber coating. Low price, 8gb. Not bad. Copy speed was fairly quick.

Cons: Died after about 2-3 years of use. I didn't abuse it, wash it accidentally in a pocket, or anything like that. Pretty much sits on my desk and I pop it in when I need to use it (which wasn't that much really). Now Windows won't recognize it and says it needs to be formatted. When I try to format it, it can't be formatted because of some error. Drive is basically dead, no PC will recognize the device.

Overall Review: Good drive while it lasted. Was my favorite until it died. Hard to purchase a Patriot drive again as a replacement, but mine was most likely just a fluke. Odd that it worked for so long and then just quit without any warnings. Scary, because I was backing up some stuff on there and it was just toast with the drive when it quit.

Awesome HOTAS!

Saitek X52 Flight Control System
Saitek X52 Flight Control System

Pros: Super nice quality HOTAS setup. I am really surprised, and I love it so far. I use it with Elite Dangerous and Star Citizen. Right out of the box it has a great, intuitive profile for Elite Dangerous. The stick is really smooth with quality buttons, and so is the throttle. I am super happy with this HOTAS. I would highly recommend this HOTAS to my friends. The quality is much higher than I expected. I like it more than the x55 Rhino, plus it is $50 - $75 cheaper!

Cons: The only "con" I can think of is that it is light, so it is possible to scoot it if you really turn it hard. But if you're turning it hard, you're doing it wrong. Plus they include suction cups to keep it on the table. I don't need them though after just a few short sessions of use, even for the throttle (which feels awesome!).

Overall Review: This thing is great. I don't know how it has the bad reviews that it does. I really like it a lot! I had an x55, and it had a couple issues so I returned it. I was unsure if this joystick, being the same brand, would work for me. Turns out, it is really awesome and I'm really happy with the purchase! One reason I got the x55 was because of some of the bad reviews on this HOTAS setup. I'm sorry I listened to those and am really happy with this thing!

Re-review, new model

CM Storm QuickFire Rapid - Compact Mechanical Gaming Keyboard with CHERRY MX Brown Switches
CM Storm QuickFire Rapid - Compact Mechanical Gaming Keyboard with CHERRY MX Brown Switches

Pros: *Small, compact *All black look is cool *Comes with key puller *Comes with red keys to replace WASD which look pretty cool *Board feels heavy and solid

Cons: *Keys don't feel solid (the board itself does, though) *Keys are loud *Newer model (replaced my other one) doesn't feel like it is built with the same quality

Overall Review: I had a bad "p" key on my previous model. The manufacturer returned it with no issues and replacement was fairly quick. However the board I got back was the "newer" model of the one I had. I doesn't seem as well built, and the keys are more noisy and loud compared to the previous one. Overall it doesn't feel as solid. Comparing it to another brown switch board I have, it just doesn't feel as nice. The main thing though is that the new replacement I was sent isn't really the same board, as it is also black board/black keys, where my other one was kind of a silver board/black keys. The switches on this board all seem more loose compared to the other one. I've had another one of these with blue switches (previous model) and it felt really nice too, so it seems these newer models are the ones not feeling/sounding/looking the same. Not an overall bad keyboard, but it doesn't feel the same as what it replaced, unfortunately. I was happier with the other ones, except for the "p" key failing.

Not very powerful

Cooler Master Extreme Power Plus - 500W Power Supply
Cooler Master Extreme Power Plus - 500W Power Supply

Pros: Looks nice, has plenty of plugs.

Cons: Sporadic power downs. Doesn't have enough power to run an i5-2500k at stock speeds, 1 7200rpm hard drive, and a Nvidia 650 Ti video card. Either I have a bad unit or it's just not enough power. Really only runs about 360 watts of power, not 500. Would not recommend for a gaming system, which is what I purchased it for (budget gaming system).

Overall Review: Don't buy for a gaming system and don't get it if you need more than 360 watt system power.

Good Quality Keyboard

CM Storm QuickFire Rapid - Compact Mechanical Gaming Keyboard with CHERRY MX Red Switches
CM Storm QuickFire Rapid - Compact Mechanical Gaming Keyboard with CHERRY MX Red Switches

Pros: *Well built. *Feels good. *Looks nice, no branding on the front/top at all. *More low-key (visually) than their other boards.

Cons: *Personal - not a fan of red switches. The board itself really doesn't have any cons.

Overall Review: Good board, I just don't like red switches. Coming from blues/browns, I don't like their feel. The red felt harder to press down than the brown Rapid to me (I have both).
