Big, great drive

Seagate Momentus 5400.6 ST9500325AS 500GB 5400 RPM 8MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 2.5" Internal Notebook Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: Trouble-free upgrade for my 3-year old white MacBook. Follow instructions from Apple's support website. Big laptop drive for $80 bucks with no shipping fee.

Cons: Not much.

Overall Review: Worth the money to upgrade. Hope this expanded capacity can make my MacBook last another 2 more years.

Problems with this

D-Link Xtreme-N Duo Wireless Bridge/Access Point (DAP-1522) Wireless N300, Dual-Band, Fast Ethernet
D-Link Xtreme-N Duo Wireless Bridge/Access Point (DAP-1522) Wireless N300, Dual-Band, Fast Ethernet

Pros: Simple to install. Hardware switch between AP, bridge, and auto is easy for novice users.

Cons: Firmware has bugs. Some options can't be changed. No new firmware is available from D-Link as I just checked. Incompatible with MacBook Pro. All my laptops can download at high speed but MacBook Pro downloads at 128K/s...MacBook Pro works fine with other routers and access points so the machine is not an issue.

Overall Review: The range and speed are not impressive at all. You may get the maximum N speed if your client is right next to the access point. I am returning it.

Stable and long range

Ubiquiti UniFi Enterprise Wi-Fi System Wireless AP long Range (UAP-LR-US)
Ubiquiti UniFi Enterprise Wi-Fi System Wireless AP long Range (UAP-LR-US)

Pros: Very stable. Very long range, even inside house with two to three stories. Controller software easy to use. Once settings are done, you don't need the controller software on with the PC. The device selling point is stablility plus long range. There is no bells and whistle here. Just reliable and stable.

Cons: More expensive than other consumer grade access points.

Solid router

Linksys E2500-RM Advanced Simultaneous Dual-Band Wireless-N Router IEEE 802.3/3u, IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n
Linksys E2500-RM Advanced Simultaneous Dual-Band Wireless-N Router IEEE 802.3/3u, IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n

Pros: Solid routers for 2 weeks now. Very inexpensive for dual bands as refurbished units. Packing and unit conditions look just like new. Very responsive units.

Cons: All are fine except guest network. You can't modify the guest network SSID. It is basically your own SSID addded with "-guest" automatically to be come the guest ID. This is a minor issue. But for a router at $30 or so, this is an acceptable inconvenience.

Solid

Netgear WNR3500L-100NAR Wireless-N Router RangeMax Opensource with USB

Pros: Solid

Cons: None

Overall Review: Worth it

Solid. Very good product.

NETGEAR WNDR3700-100NAR N600 Dual Band Wireless Gigabit Router IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n, IEEE 802.3/3u/3ab Manufacturer Recertified
NETGEAR WNDR3700-100NAR N600 Dual Band Wireless Gigabit Router IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n, IEEE 802.3/3u/3ab Manufacturer Recertified

Pros: Solid performance. Streaming hidef video without any issue. No interference surrounded by 40 other neighbor routers. Stock firmware is feature rich and has been stable without rebooting for 12 days now. Do not see a need to upgrade to open source.

Cons: None

Overall Review: To pay full price is too expensive for most household. Refurbished is a good way to get this router at a more reasonable price.
