Update on Warranty Repair

Asus VK278Q Black 27" 1920x1080 Full HD HDMI LED BackLight LCD Monitor w/Webcam 300 cd/m2 10,000,000 :1 (ASCR)
Asus VK278Q Black 27" 1920x1080 Full HD HDMI LED BackLight LCD Monitor w/Webcam 300 cd/m2 10,000,000 :1 (ASCR)

Pros: This is an update of a previous review. HDMI display port went out on my a few weeks ago after less than a year of ownership. Asus website "live" chat person issued RMA in first session with them. Mailing back and forth was simple via FedEx. Problem was fixed by replacing bad part. Their packing back to me was better than what I sent it to them in.

Cons: Shipping took almost a week in travel each way, and a week at repair center. FedEx tried to deliver while I was away from home, and it was a little convoluted figuring out where they were holding my monitor, but that was straightened out after a couple of days. Fortunately I had my (smaller) old monitor as a backup.

Overall Review: Definitely like the monitor performance. Disappointed about the hardware failure, but Asus service did the repair to my satisfaction.

Great product so far

SAMSUNG 860 EVO Series 2.5" 1TB SATA III V-NAND 3-bit MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) MZ-76E1T0B/AM
SAMSUNG 860 EVO Series 2.5" 1TB SATA III V-NAND 3-bit MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) MZ-76E1T0B/AM

Pros: Performs as expected, fast and silent.

Cons: Setup was more involved than I thought going into this upgrade.

Overall Review: I used this drive, along with a clean Windows install, to refresh my 2013 gaming computer that was running slow. It has cut minutes off my boot time and noticeably improved performance where data is read/written. Cloning my HDD with Samsung software was easy. Unfortunately my computer didn't recognize the drive. Digging into my BIOS and chatting with A**S tech support (which was very good) I determined that the clone wasn't going to work. I then had to reformat the drive and delete all the partitions to do a clean install of Windows 10 Home on to the SSD. Had to research a bit to figure out how to reconfigure my BIOS to recognize the drive. It now recognizes both drives as boot options, so I can probably do some cleanup on my HDD now. This path gave me a clean Windows install, which I wanted, but now I manually have to reinstall programs and copy data files over to the SDD (which I didn't want). Overall I'm very satisfied with the drive and performance; not its fault the install wasn't a simple path.

Sturdy but Maybe Tight

Swissgear LEGACY 16" WA-7652-14F00 Double Gusset Computer case
Swissgear LEGACY 16" WA-7652-14F00 Double Gusset Computer case

Pros: Sturdy, well organized, good padding for laptop, but still lightweight. Shoulder strap is comfortable even when loaded with laptop, charger, and several fat file folders. Double zippers on all compartments are handy. Appears to be well constructed with heavy-duty materials and attention to details.

Cons: File space in middle of case gives you about 2" to carry files or books, so depending on your needs that may not be enough. Biggest drawback is width of laptop compartment. My laptop measures 15" which *barely" fits into the case without rubbing the zippers. Add a USB receiver for wireless mouse or pointer, and you need to stretch the case a little to avoid scratching.

Overall Review: I have had other Wenger products that have lasted very well. Except for the tight fit of my laptop, I'm very satisfied with this purchase.

Fantastic

EVGA SuperClocked 01G-P3-1563-AR GeForce GTX 560 Ti (Fermi) 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card
EVGA SuperClocked 01G-P3-1563-AR GeForce GTX 560 Ti (Fermi) 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card

Pros: Fast enough for anything I throw at it.

Cons: Doesn't give me any excuses to buy a new, faster card!

Overall Review: Running dual core Intel 8400, this handles high detail and gets fine frame rates for everything I am playing. Sadly, no logical need to upgrade.

Excellent

Linksys WRT54GL 802.11b/g Wireless Broadband Router up to 54 Mbps/ Compatible with Open Source DD-WRT (not pre-load)
Linksys WRT54GL 802.11b/g Wireless Broadband Router up to 54 Mbps/ Compatible with Open Source DD-WRT (not pre-load)

Pros: Stays connected. Previous wireless router got to where it needed rebooting every 2-3 days. This model plugged in and runs flawlessly in the background. Haven't done any speed tests.

Cons: None.

Excellent

TP-LINK TL-WN722N Wireless N150 High Gain USB Adapter, 150Mbps, w/4 dBi High Gain Detachable Antenna, IEEE 802.11b/g/n, WEP, WPA/WPA2
TP-LINK TL-WN722N Wireless N150 High Gain USB Adapter, 150Mbps, w/4 dBi High Gain Detachable Antenna, IEEE 802.11b/g/n, WEP, WPA/WPA2

Pros: I have an internal wireless card that barely picks up my wireless router from the adjacent room. Plugged in my new TP-LINK and it picked up the same wireless router with an EXCELLENT signal strength, compared to my internal card that said poor. Over 7 MB/s on speed test, so no problems there. Plug and Play with Win7--didn't even need the included driver disk.

Cons: None so far. White, and my computer case is black. Nicely designed--looks like it could be an Apple product.

Overall Review: White, and my computer case is black. Nicely designed--looks like it could be an Apple product.
